Let’s shake this off a bit --- let’s have a HAPPY MOMENT … since we’re in CHICAGO (and at least 25% of you are local) with a big smile, let’s have a round of applause for the Chicago Cubs.

Okay, so for those of you who don’t know me, I’m Brice Dunwoodie. I’m the founder of the CMSWire publication and of the DX Summit conference.
I’VE BEEN AT THIS A WHILE …. Started CMSWIRE as a HOBBY IN 2003 --- and frankly, I HAD NO IDEA WHAT I WAS DOING
--- LIVING IN PARIS ---- CONSULTING FOR AMERICAN CLIENTS --- DRINKING WINE ---- WANDERING AROUND EUROPE
My background was as AN INTEGRATOR – I WROTE FOR ME --- ABOUT THINGS I WAS WANTED TO KNOW MORE ABOUT
Over time some REVENUE CAME IN --- and I STAYED CLOSE TO MY CLIENTS ---- TO THEIR NEEDS They PULLED me forward.
CMSWIRE became my PRIMARY FOCUS in 2010 …. And eventually we built up the team and funds enough to launch DX SUMMIT in 2015.
It’s YEAR TWO of DX Summit and it’s been quite a journey.
LOT OF WORK – we’ve DOUBLED THE SIZE, ------ DIVERSIFIED content, speakers and sponsors

AND ….. I BELIEVE it’s ----- HIGHLY RELEVANT TO OUR FOCUS ON CUSTOMER EXEPERIENCE
HOW? ….. MY KEY POINT IS THAT MOST OF US WERE SURPRISED BY WHAT HAPPENED.
In the AGE OF BIG DATA ---- MOST GOT IT BIG TIME WRONG.
An article by MICHAEL MORE caught my eye ----- he argued that TRUMP would win, largely because the DEMOCRATS were out of touch with the rest of AMERICA.
He said … QUOTE
And I would say THE BIG RISK in our PROFESSIONAL LIVES is that we are ALL LIVING IN BUBBLES …. OUR TEAM MATES ---- MANAGERS ---- BOOKS WE READ ----
Moore in effect said that the DEMOCRATS LACKED EMPATHY and this CAUSED THEIR BLINDNESS and OVER CONFIDENCE
In short … HE SAID THEY WERE OUT OF TOUCH WITH THEIR CUSTOMERS.
So for any of us feeling shocked by what happened, I believe this is an opportunity ------ REFLECT UPON EMPATHY
And to kick off this conference THE SEED I WANT TO PLANT is this:The key to our success is EMPATHY. It’s our ability to see through our CUSTOMERS’ EYES … and OUR ABILITY to CULTIVATE A CULTURE OF EMPATHY in our organizations.
