My name is George Sirrakos and I am currently employed by the Dresden International School as a
MYP/DP science teacher and the Head of Department for the natural sciences. I have had the
pleasure of knowing Demet for the past two years as her colleague and friend. Two thoughts that
come to mind when recalling Demet as an individual are her diligent work ethic and her ability to

Demet made quite an impression on me during our time together at the Dresden International
School. I consider myself fortunate enough to have worked with an individual that displays a rare
combination of expert science content knowledge, initiative, and all around intelligence in the
classroom. Her lessons are well prepared with clearly defined aims and objectives suitable for the
large mix of students in her classroom. Demet’s students are generally engaged due to her ability to
ask effective and varied questions. In addition, Demet has managed to create a safe and exciting
learning environment while consistently maintaining high academic standards for her students.
Outside the realms of the classroom, Demet has been helpful in the creation and documentation of
both MYP and DP Science curriculums. She is also very supportive of school policies and
decisions once they have been made and is always willing to share her thoughts and engage in
discussions where she feels appropriate. As a colleague, Demet demonstrates the upmost
professionalism, staying open to new ideas and maintaining a positive attitude.
In conclusion, I believe that Demet’s leadership abilities as well as her appreciation of teaching and
