2. • Responsible electricity use and its consequent effect on the economy
and the climate is an issue of utmost importance especially in a country
like Nigeria.
• For many years, Nigeria has been grappling with the issue of providing
reliable power supply to the whole country.
• This article is from a citizen hoping to reach out and engage other
citizens on how our joint efforts can promote the efforts the
government is making to ensure constant power supply to the nation.
• This proposal is in line with the SDG goals number 7, 11, 12 and 13. It
seeks to propose the possibility of involving local electricity
distribution companies in disseminating information to the public as
they are not doing enough at the moment.

matters in Nigeria.
• Discos should fund and support groups promoting responsible
electricity use in Nigeria starting with young pupils.
• If discos are mandated to do the above, it will go a long way in
supporting the government’s effort to bring in dependable power
supply in Nigeria as their efforts will be complemented by the
positive actions of the citizens.
