Examples Of Observation In Preschool
The preschool is located behind the Little Church of the Desert, in the small town of Twentynine Palms, CA. The school has 5 classrooms; as you
walk into the doors, there are two small fenced in playgrounds. The first one has a swing set, a sand area, a movable slide, as well as a few toys lying
round. This playground is used by the children in Room 1, which are 30 months. Next to it, the second playground is a little bigger. It has
absolutely no shaded areas; two swing sets, a playground structure, and a sand toy area, seesaw, as well as, a little basketball hoop. The floors in both
playgrounds are covered in sand. I did not enter in every single classroom, however, the one I did get to observe, was small, and had two tables as you
walked it. The...show more content...
How did the overall condition of the setting make you feel?
I was pleased with the condition of the overall setting. I felt they were taking the necessary precaution to handle properly body fluids, as well as,
preventive health measures for no cross contamination. iii. Would you feel comfortable recommending this setting based on what you observed?
Yes, I would feel comfortable recommending thisschool based on what I observed. They not only had the children used proper preventive
maintenance, but they explained the importance of doing it as well. For example, the teacher explained to the boy why it was important for her to
wear the gloves, and clean his wound before putting on a band aid.
b.Recommendation (1) (Choose something from the checklist that you did not observe here)
The only recommendation I have is that they needed to go see where they boy scrapped his knee for possible contamination of a playground area. He
said he scrapped his knee in when he tripped going up the steps of the playground structure. Perhaps, there were traces of blood left in the structure that
needed to get properly cleaned and disinfected.

Preschool Child Observation
General Observation While observing at the Child of God Preschool in Newark, Ohio, I got to actively engage with several preschool age children,
each in their own stage of development. I specifically interacted with two children, one four year old and one five year old who were both different
developmentally but appropriate for their ages' milestones. Among the twelve children in the preschool class, I noted that the majority of the
children were four years of age and would be attending kindergarten in the fall. Typical Developmental Milestones for the Preschool Age Child The
typical four year old child who has developed competent gross motor skills is able to hop and stand on one foot; for example, a four year old child
without physical delay should be able to play hopscotch. He or she should also be able to cut with scissors and catch a ball that is thrown to them,
both examples of appropriate fine motor skills. Cognitively, the four year old should be able to name colors and numbers, say their first and last name
appropriately, tell stories, begin to understand...show more content...
The nurse can establish a proper meal plan for the child so he or she can meet their nutritional needs, and then educate the family and child about the
importance of a balanced, healthy diet for children. If a child is having cognitive difficulties, the nurse can refer the client to other professionals and a
case manager to ensure that a teaching plan is being reinforced. Papp et al. (2014) states that "the ability to identify a learner's challenges and guide
them in their development must be a focus of more attention for educators in nursing and medicine." The nurse should provide plenty of information
on childhood milestones to the parents so any early indications of developmental delays can be caught and hopefully resolved

My Observation Of My Preschool Observation
The purpose of my "Preschool Observation" is to observe the behavior of a three year old toddler in a head start school setting. The child's name is
Adam Johnson, he is three years old, I do not know the child. I knew that if I did not know the child it would be a better observation. My purpose is
to objectively observe the two year old toddler without bias responses of my observation in full descriptive details. My observation of the three year
old preschool is to explain the domains of development and how these domains intersect with one another as the child grows. There are six
developmental domains in early childhood development; which are physical, language, aesthetic, cognitive, emotional, and social domains.
I chose a group of preschool children that ages range from three to five. I chose a little boy named Adam who is the age of three years old. Adam
attends head start, which he has attended the school since six months of age. The observation takes place in the classroom; which also has a playroom
sectioned off with a half wall for the preschoolers. The colorful room consists of space subdivided into play areas to manipulate, explore, snuggle, and
play with, share, and interest areas for differing purposes such as learning according to the appropriate age. One part of the room is set up for
dramatic play with a doll house, child–sized furniture such as chairs, couches, and block seats arranged on an area rug with bright colors. The
dramatic play area is a cabinet,

Observation Of A Preschool Observation
I was able to observe the oldest preschool classroom we have at the center I currently work at for one hour. The classroom has about 20 children,
ranging from four to five–year–old's. They are the classroom that gets the children Kindergarten ready. There are three teachers that work in the
classroom: Teacher P., Teacher A., and Teacher J. The large group time started after the children went to the bathroom, about mid
–morning. Teacher P.
leads the group time and teachers A. and J. did room prep. Once all the children were seated, Teacher P. started group time with a song called Hello
Neighbor. Teacher P. was the only teacher to sing with the children. The other teachers were busy doing other things around the classroom. They use
the song as a way for the children to know that large group time is starting and with the use of movements with the song it allows the children to get
their "wiggles" out. All but one child participated in the greeting song. That child just sat on the rug and watched the other children. Teacher P. tried
to encourage the child, but without any success. Teacher A. also tried and failed. Neither teacher forced the child to participate. Once the children had
sung their song and sat back down on the rug, Teacher P. started to lead large group time with handing out jobs for the children to do. The jobs
include line leader, door holder, who gets to do calendar/weather, librarian, snack help, and lunch helper. When the calendar/weather helper was ready
the whole class started to count and clap as he pointed to the numbers. They got about to the number five when a little girl shouted, "Fill up Saturday
and Sunday!" Since this was on a Monday they had forgotten to add Saturday and Sunday. Teacher P. laughed and said that they had all of the teachers
had forgotten about and that it was a "great catch" by the little girl. Once they finished counting in English, they counted in Spanish with some
guidance of Teacher P. Teacher P. was sitting in the "teacher" chair and had done very little teacher
–guided instruction. The children seemed to know
what to do on their own. Teacher A. had now joined the group and sat at the back of the group. Teacher J. was still doing things

Classrooms environments are very important at the time of learning. According to our textbook, the environment is viewed as an established
behavioral place that forms how we act and behave (Vukelich & Christie, 2016). The environment in the classroom I visited was adequate for
learning because it has all the things a preschool classroom has to have according to the textbook. The classroom has a bulleting board, a dramatic
play center, a writing center, tables for manipulative and games, whole group meeting area, a computer area and an art area. There was also on a wall
a picture of every single child with his and her names. My visit was from 10:30 to 12:30. When I first arrived, children were in a transition from one
activity to another. The next activity was to watch an ABC phonics video. All the children knew what they have to do. They had to sit nicely and
quiet on the floor. Every single child knew how to sit. They crossed their legs and put their hands in their laps. When the teacher saw that all the
children were sitting properly, she assumed that they were ready to learn. During this activity I observed that Matthew and Jose were not engaged with
this activity because they were looking to other children instead to look to the screen. For the next activity the children had to take a tablet from a
cabinet. I was surprise because every single child knew the number of the tablet they have to take. Later I noticed that it was because in the classroom
every child has a

Preschool Observation PaperJacqueline Larsen Brooklyn College
Abstract
This paper contains observations of a preschool classroom in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. The observation was conducted in a Pre–K classroom with
approximately ten students present. Observations are presented with regard to dramatic play, the presence of gender roles, and themes that emerge
during preschool play. Peer relationships and levels of friendship between students will also be discussed. Relationships with adults in the classroom
with in terms of attachment styles and general interactions involving teachers and parents will be reviewed. Observations are also described in relation
to self–control, self–regulation, aggression,...show more content...
I listened in on the two boys whose play evolved into various themes throughout the play period. In response to the teacher's question on what he was
making, one child responded: "It's a mission cruiser from Paw Patrol." There was dispute among the two on who should be which character. One boy
emphatically stated "I'm not Chase, I'm the little boy!" The other child appeared reluctant to accept this change in roles but gave in rather quickly,
likely to appease his classmate. After the roles were settled, the boys began their play by imitating the apparent motifs of this particular television show,
mostly involving emergency situations in which people or animals were in need of rescue.
After the pair grew tired of this scenario, one of the boys morphed his manipulatives into a weapon shape while saying to the other: "let's shoot you."
The teacher was quick to abort this idea with a calm but firm "no thank you, nothing that hurts other people." Overall, the play between these two boys
did contain largely gender stereotypic themes involving action and adventure and, towards the end, stemmed from potentially violent ideas. Research
suggests that children often prefer playing with toys consistent with those typical for their gender (Goble, Martin & Hanish 2012). However, they will

Preschool Classroom Observation
I observed at St. Eve's Learning Center location in their preschool room. The center has a naturalistic feel to the environment and all of the staff is
friendly and welcoming. The classroom displayed best practices, modern theories and research, and followed expected standards set by their
accreditations.
The classroom that I observed in was arranged in a simple way. In the dramatic play center there was a long coat rack and each hook was labeled
with an image and name of the outfit. This was done so the children know where do place the clothing when they are done with it or cleaning up.
Also in this center was a cash register, puppets, an oven, refrigerator, ironing board, sing, dishwasher, a table set and a comfy chair. Their block

One thing I did note while I was in the room I noticed, in my opinion, a health and safety violation. A girl had an accident duringcircle time; the
teacher walked the girl away from the circle area to the back of the room by the cubbies. The teacher then proceeded to assist the child in removing
her bottoms and getting new clothes on. All during this time the teacher did not have gloves on; there was nothing to protect the floor. Once the child
was changed, and still in the same shoes, went back to the circle as the teacher carried the soiled clothes in her hand. Neither the carpet nor the area
where the teacher changed the child was cleaned or sanitized. The child did not wash her hands yet the teacher did wash her hands.
On the last day I observed I was impressed, it was only the one teacher who was the primary teacher and ten children. She washed down the tables
during cleanup time, even if they might not have been used. She occasionally counted to make sure she had the correct amount of children and she
had almost all of the children engaged during their circle time. During circle time they discussed their long weekend and talked about why their other
teacher was not there because she was sick. The teacher introduced a new community helper by selecting one child and having the rest over their eyes.
The one child then dressed up as the community helper and the children had to guess who it was. One child, who

SETTING
The date of my observation was April 27th, 2010. It was about 9:30 in the morning when I began my study. I went to Grossmont College's Child
Development Center. The first thing I began looking for was if the child–teacher ratio was correct. The child ratio was 2 teachers to about every 8
children. The ratio was good. As I entered there was one large room that almost looked as if it could be two rooms they way it was set up. One half
consisted of a large bookshelf with numerous books on it with a couch in the front of it. The other half of the room was almost like a little kitchen. It
had a table with chairs around it with a sink and cabinets behind it. There were "age appropriate" toys as well as books all over the...show more content...
She is right handed. Right when I saw Addison for the first time she was painting. She was doing everything with her right hand showing the maturation
of the prefrontal cortex. Addison's use of her right hand is evidence lateralization, or sidedness, of the brain. As the corpus callosum connects it allows
the person to coordinate functions performed mainly by one hemisphere or the other (Berger 8th edition connecting the Brain's hemispheres, pg. 226).
According to the text the corpus collasum grows rapidly during early childhood. (Addison, at 5, is within in this norm (Berger 8th edition pg. 226).
Her fine motor skills were being shown off in many ways throughout my observation. Addison used her plastic spoon to carefully add new colors of
paint into her box. She displayed fine motor skills, which involve small body movements (especially those of the hands and fingers) (Berger 8th
edition page 234). She is actually advanced for her age because according to (Berger 8th edition pg. 232 table 8.1) bit says the approximate age is 6
when a child will draw and paint with preferred hand. Addison painted by herself around the other children for almost 10 minutes. Addison showed
signs of Preservation, which refers to the tendency to preserve in, or stick to, one thought or action (Berger 8th edition pg. 228). Once Addison was
done painting she then told the teacher "I'm done", and the teacher advised her to go wash her hands. She walks over to the

Preschool Classroom Observation Essay
I had the pleasure of doing my observations on a preschool classroom. Through my experiences on that day, I could observe how children on three to
five years old communicate with others. Based on what I observed, I noticed that children on these ages communicate by using more words and bigger
sentences, also they speak more clearly. Listening how children communicate in their classroom, I reached to the conclusion that those children in their
three years old communicate different than those who have five years old, because I when I talked with children that have three years sometimes they
don't speak very clearly. When I had the opportunity to asked their names sometimes I could not understand some of the names when the children spoke,

Preschool Child Care Observation
I did my child care observation at The Children's Center here in Asheboro. I observed a classroom that was made up of 2–3 year olds. The classroom
was very spacious and was sectioned off into different centers where the children were able to play. The class had about 12 children and there were 2
teachers in there supervising and guiding the children. Thus showing that the class was in compliance with the teacher/ratio state rule. I actually talked
to the director there and she said that they never reached the maximum group size that was allowed because she wanted every child to get the maximum
attention and care that a teacher could provide the children with. I also did have the opportunity to talk to the teachers and find out more about them.
Both teachers did have their credentials and one had her...show more content...

showed different sexes too. There were pictures hanging up of adults from different cultures, small children playing with friends, a picture with
people from different races, as well as a picture with children dressed up as doctors and such. The classroom itself was made up of many children
with different backgrounds. There were African Americans, Caucasians, as well as Hispanics. All the teachers in the centers were respectful towards
every child at all times and was very loving. Along with all the pictures hanging up, there were also a few books in the reading center that represented
many cultures. The books were mainly picture books that showed many different cultures and religions but, the reading center didn't have any books or

Essay On Preschool Observation
When I went to go observe the preschool lab I saw right around thirteen kids and two teachers that were in the room with them at that time. The
reason why I believe it is important to have more kids than teachers is that it allows the kids to interact with each other which will allow them to
develop better socially with kids their age. Having a few teachers also allows them to have an authority figurehead that they answer to and listen to.
It is important to only have a few though because I feel like if you had a ton of different teachers it would confuse the kids who to listen to because
there are multiple authority figures who may be saying different things. When I was watching I noticed that most of the kids were interacting with the
other children in the room in one way or another. There were a few who would play by themselves for a while but...show more content...
He was a very energetic and very colorful kid which is the main reason why I chose to even observe him. When I first started observing him he was
playing with a string by himself but then some other kids decided to join him and at first he seemed like he didn't want them to play with him but
the teacher told him that he should share with them. He straightway followed the directions from the teacher and shared with the other kids and he
actually had a really good time and loved to play with those other kids. I noticed that he was really hands on with all the different activities that were
there even if they weren't technically "hands on" activities. He was very interactive with all of those in the room whether that be one of the other
kids or with the teachers. He was very talkative and actually made sense for the most part whenever he would talk to those around him. He was pretty
good for the most part in expressing his feelings through words but he did sometimes grunt or yell if he was frustrated with others around

Preschool Observation Report
On November 17th, 2015, I did an observation in the Children Center of California State University, Sacramento through Desired Results
Developmental profile–Preschool (DRDP). I did my observation about my focal child. For the purpose of confidentiality, I will call her Lina. She is a
three–year–old girl. When I walked into the room, most of kid were still taking a nap, only couple of them woke up. There were about sixteen kids
and two teachers. Since the other kids were napping, teachers did not allow them to play themselves. Lina woke up, sat on her napping mat quietly,
and tried to fold her blanket. When she saw other kids left their mats, she stopped playing with her blanket, went close to other kids, and tried to talk to
them. For this...show more content...
Children would like to know others' name, also wanted others to remember their name. From Lina's conversations and behaviors, l noticed that
children wanted to know each other's name before they played together. If some children had activities with familiar adults, the other kids would like
to participate. Children could play positively at any time, but when kids needed to use the materials or space, they would not make a concession to
share with others. Children do not know how to express their empathy, but sometimes, they might laugh instead of helping. Due to the time limitation, I
was not able to observe all the measures from the DRDP, such as the impulse and conflict. For three–year–old children, when they have impulse or
conflict with others, if they could not help themselves, the first idea they might come up is ask teacher for help, but most of time, children can forget
what happened easily. They might cry in the last minute, but smile in the next minute, or play with the same kids happily after the impulse and
conflict. The DRDP is a good tool to observe children on their recognition with own skills and accomplishment, their relationships with peers and adults,
also how they manage their emotions with impulse and conflict

Essay On Early Childhood Observation
Child observation occurred in a large preschool classroom at Southwestern School Corporation's Early Childhood Academy in the morning of
November 30th for one hour. The classroom was divided by a curtain to separate the younger and older class. Tables for the children were located
in the center of the room, facing the teacher's desk and chalkboard, while toys and games (costumes, play kitchen, etc.) were located on the
perimeter of the room. My fellow peer and I sat at a small table in the back corner of the classroom to observe the older age group, which consisted of
children ranging from 3.5 to 4 years of age. There were approximately nine children, four of which were girls and five were boys. Two adults/teachers
were supervising the children. The child who served as the primary focus of observation seemed to be one of the older boys in the class based on size
and language capabilities. For the purpose of this observation, the child will be referred to as Eli. Eli was one of the more outgoing and confident
children in the classroom and seemed to dominate most social situations in which he engaged. He constantly moved throughout the room, interacting
with as many children as possible, and throwing himself in every social situation. Instead of asking if he could play with a group of children, he
asked: "Do you want me to play with you?" His domination of social settings seemed to frustrate some of the other children. He often took toys from
children and took over

teacher was in there at this time. I came into the classroom at 8:00 and left at 9:00. I spoke with the host teacher before and after the observation for
feedback, which I felt was beneficial to both her and me. I observed the children during inside for 20 minutes. I observed the children during outside
play for 40 minutes. C. Kehrer (2015) stated, "Encouragement and praise is not something that I really think about when I am doing it; I just do it."

more things with her right hand than she does with her left hand. When Anna was putting her graham cracker pieces back together, this may have
been deferred imitation (p. 174); having watched other people put puzzles together. When Anna was sharing tools and playing with her friends in

Preschool Child Observation
On May 2, 2018, I went to the Williams College Children's Center to observe a group of children and see how signs of development show up in
everyday life. According to the website, the Center serves a wide age range of children, going from six weeks to preschool, while also caring for
elementary–aged children with after–school care. However, the group I observed when going to the Center were the preschool children that were
roughly 3 to 4 years old. Arriving at 10 AM, the group started the session with show and tell, before moving on to play outside. Within the hour, there
were many examples of physical/motor, perceptual, cognitive, language, and emotional/social development from the children that was very
appropriate to see within their particular age range. Language Development In the beginning of the session, the teacher began with an activity that
consisted of the kids picking a body part and then the class singing along saying, "My _____ is starting to wiggle." Each student got the chance to
pick a body part they would move on to sing about and their answers usually consisted of only 2 word sentences, while pointing at the body part they
chose. This helped the children associate the particular names of their body parts to where it...show more content...

and physical environment through their senses. They realized running with a cup of water would cause it to spill and they could also bump into one of
the tables around the classroom. As a result, it could be seen that this is an important skill to develop as it shows a heightened awareness of everything
that's going on and adapting to handle those

My observation of children took place at a private preschool. The name of this preschool "Music, Art Shostacovish school". As this a summer time,

From this OIR I have learned about the communication and language skills and also literacy skills of toddlers/preschoolers. I have learned that
children's communication skills start developing early on and the more you work with children, talking with them, asking them questions, and engaging
in activities with them, will further help those skills be strengthened. I learned that children can hear the differences of sounds when they are born, and
in some cases it can be more challenging than others. I have also learned that there are more than just verbal communications, I learned from observing
F that many times he watched what was going on first (i.e. giving the ball to B). I will use this information by encouraging them to engage more with

Examples Of Observation In Preschool

  • 1. Examples Of Observation In Preschool The preschool is located behind the Little Church of the Desert, in the small town of Twentynine Palms, CA. The school has 5 classrooms; as you walk into the doors, there are two small fenced in playgrounds. The first one has a swing set, a sand area, a movable slide, as well as a few toys lying round. This playground is used by the children in Room 1, which are 30 months. Next to it, the second playground is a little bigger. It has absolutely no shaded areas; two swing sets, a playground structure, and a sand toy area, seesaw, as well as, a little basketball hoop. The floors in both playgrounds are covered in sand. I did not enter in every single classroom, however, the one I did get to observe, was small, and had two tables as you walked it. The...show more content... How did the overall condition of the setting make you feel? I was pleased with the condition of the overall setting. I felt they were taking the necessary precaution to handle properly body fluids, as well as, preventive health measures for no cross contamination. iii. Would you feel comfortable recommending this setting based on what you observed? Yes, I would feel comfortable recommending thisschool based on what I observed. They not only had the children used proper preventive maintenance, but they explained the importance of doing it as well. For example, the teacher explained to the boy why it was important for her to wear the gloves, and clean his wound before putting on a band aid. b.Recommendation (1) (Choose something from the checklist that you did not observe here) The only recommendation I have is that they needed to go see where they boy scrapped his knee for possible contamination of a playground area. He said he scrapped his knee in when he tripped going up the steps of the playground structure. Perhaps, there were traces of blood left in the structure that needed to get properly cleaned and disinfected. 3.Conditions that Contribute to Unintentional Injury (Table 8–3) a.Summary Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Preschool Child Observation General Observation While observing at the Child of God Preschool in Newark, Ohio, I got to actively engage with several preschool age children, each in their own stage of development. I specifically interacted with two children, one four year old and one five year old who were both different developmentally but appropriate for their ages' milestones. Among the twelve children in the preschool class, I noted that the majority of the children were four years of age and would be attending kindergarten in the fall. Typical Developmental Milestones for the Preschool Age Child The typical four year old child who has developed competent gross motor skills is able to hop and stand on one foot; for example, a four year old child without physical delay should be able to play hopscotch. He or she should also be able to cut with scissors and catch a ball that is thrown to them, both examples of appropriate fine motor skills. Cognitively, the four year old should be able to name colors and numbers, say their first and last name appropriately, tell stories, begin to understand...show more content... The nurse can establish a proper meal plan for the child so he or she can meet their nutritional needs, and then educate the family and child about the importance of a balanced, healthy diet for children. If a child is having cognitive difficulties, the nurse can refer the client to other professionals and a case manager to ensure that a teaching plan is being reinforced. Papp et al. (2014) states that "the ability to identify a learner's challenges and guide them in their development must be a focus of more attention for educators in nursing and medicine." The nurse should provide plenty of information on childhood milestones to the parents so any early indications of developmental delays can be caught and hopefully resolved Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. My Observation Of My Preschool Observation The purpose of my "Preschool Observation" is to observe the behavior of a three year old toddler in a head start school setting. The child's name is Adam Johnson, he is three years old, I do not know the child. I knew that if I did not know the child it would be a better observation. My purpose is to objectively observe the two year old toddler without bias responses of my observation in full descriptive details. My observation of the three year old preschool is to explain the domains of development and how these domains intersect with one another as the child grows. There are six developmental domains in early childhood development; which are physical, language, aesthetic, cognitive, emotional, and social domains. I chose a group of preschool children that ages range from three to five. I chose a little boy named Adam who is the age of three years old. Adam attends head start, which he has attended the school since six months of age. The observation takes place in the classroom; which also has a playroom sectioned off with a half wall for the preschoolers. The colorful room consists of space subdivided into play areas to manipulate, explore, snuggle, and play with, share, and interest areas for differing purposes such as learning according to the appropriate age. One part of the room is set up for dramatic play with a doll house, child–sized furniture such as chairs, couches, and block seats arranged on an area rug with bright colors. The dramatic play area is a cabinet, Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Observation Of A Preschool Observation I was able to observe the oldest preschool classroom we have at the center I currently work at for one hour. The classroom has about 20 children, ranging from four to five–year–old's. They are the classroom that gets the children Kindergarten ready. There are three teachers that work in the classroom: Teacher P., Teacher A., and Teacher J. The large group time started after the children went to the bathroom, about mid –morning. Teacher P. leads the group time and teachers A. and J. did room prep. Once all the children were seated, Teacher P. started group time with a song called Hello Neighbor. Teacher P. was the only teacher to sing with the children. The other teachers were busy doing other things around the classroom. They use the song as a way for the children to know that large group time is starting and with the use of movements with the song it allows the children to get their "wiggles" out. All but one child participated in the greeting song. That child just sat on the rug and watched the other children. Teacher P. tried to encourage the child, but without any success. Teacher A. also tried and failed. Neither teacher forced the child to participate. Once the children had sung their song and sat back down on the rug, Teacher P. started to lead large group time with handing out jobs for the children to do. The jobs include line leader, door holder, who gets to do calendar/weather, librarian, snack help, and lunch helper. When the calendar/weather helper was ready the whole class started to count and clap as he pointed to the numbers. They got about to the number five when a little girl shouted, "Fill up Saturday and Sunday!" Since this was on a Monday they had forgotten to add Saturday and Sunday. Teacher P. laughed and said that they had all of the teachers had forgotten about and that it was a "great catch" by the little girl. Once they finished counting in English, they counted in Spanish with some guidance of Teacher P. Teacher P. was sitting in the "teacher" chair and had done very little teacher –guided instruction. The children seemed to know what to do on their own. Teacher A. had now joined the group and sat at the back of the group. Teacher J. was still doing things Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Classrooms environments are very important at the time of learning. According to our textbook, the environment is viewed as an established behavioral place that forms how we act and behave (Vukelich & Christie, 2016). The environment in the classroom I visited was adequate for learning because it has all the things a preschool classroom has to have according to the textbook. The classroom has a bulleting board, a dramatic play center, a writing center, tables for manipulative and games, whole group meeting area, a computer area and an art area. There was also on a wall a picture of every single child with his and her names. My visit was from 10:30 to 12:30. When I first arrived, children were in a transition from one activity to another. The next activity was to watch an ABC phonics video. All the children knew what they have to do. They had to sit nicely and quiet on the floor. Every single child knew how to sit. They crossed their legs and put their hands in their laps. When the teacher saw that all the children were sitting properly, she assumed that they were ready to learn. During this activity I observed that Matthew and Jose were not engaged with this activity because they were looking to other children instead to look to the screen. For the next activity the children had to take a tablet from a cabinet. I was surprise because every single child knew the number of the tablet they have to take. Later I noticed that it was because in the classroom every child has a Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Observation Paper On Preschool Observation Preschool Observation PaperJacqueline Larsen Brooklyn College Abstract This paper contains observations of a preschool classroom in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. The observation was conducted in a Pre–K classroom with approximately ten students present. Observations are presented with regard to dramatic play, the presence of gender roles, and themes that emerge during preschool play. Peer relationships and levels of friendship between students will also be discussed. Relationships with adults in the classroom with in terms of attachment styles and general interactions involving teachers and parents will be reviewed. Observations are also described in relation to self–control, self–regulation, aggression,...show more content... I listened in on the two boys whose play evolved into various themes throughout the play period. In response to the teacher's question on what he was making, one child responded: "It's a mission cruiser from Paw Patrol." There was dispute among the two on who should be which character. One boy emphatically stated "I'm not Chase, I'm the little boy!" The other child appeared reluctant to accept this change in roles but gave in rather quickly, likely to appease his classmate. After the roles were settled, the boys began their play by imitating the apparent motifs of this particular television show, mostly involving emergency situations in which people or animals were in need of rescue. After the pair grew tired of this scenario, one of the boys morphed his manipulatives into a weapon shape while saying to the other: "let's shoot you." The teacher was quick to abort this idea with a calm but firm "no thank you, nothing that hurts other people." Overall, the play between these two boys did contain largely gender stereotypic themes involving action and adventure and, towards the end, stemmed from potentially violent ideas. Research suggests that children often prefer playing with toys consistent with those typical for their gender (Goble, Martin & Hanish 2012). However, they will adjust the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. Preschool Classroom Observation I observed at St. Eve's Learning Center location in their preschool room. The center has a naturalistic feel to the environment and all of the staff is friendly and welcoming. The classroom displayed best practices, modern theories and research, and followed expected standards set by their accreditations. The classroom that I observed in was arranged in a simple way. In the dramatic play center there was a long coat rack and each hook was labeled with an image and name of the outfit. This was done so the children know where do place the clothing when they are done with it or cleaning up. Also in this center was a cash register, puppets, an oven, refrigerator, ironing board, sing, dishwasher, a table set and a comfy chair. Their block ...show more content... One thing I did note while I was in the room I noticed, in my opinion, a health and safety violation. A girl had an accident duringcircle time; the teacher walked the girl away from the circle area to the back of the room by the cubbies. The teacher then proceeded to assist the child in removing her bottoms and getting new clothes on. All during this time the teacher did not have gloves on; there was nothing to protect the floor. Once the child was changed, and still in the same shoes, went back to the circle as the teacher carried the soiled clothes in her hand. Neither the carpet nor the area where the teacher changed the child was cleaned or sanitized. The child did not wash her hands yet the teacher did wash her hands. On the last day I observed I was impressed, it was only the one teacher who was the primary teacher and ten children. She washed down the tables during cleanup time, even if they might not have been used. She occasionally counted to make sure she had the correct amount of children and she had almost all of the children engaged during their circle time. During circle time they discussed their long weekend and talked about why their other teacher was not there because she was sick. The teacher introduced a new community helper by selecting one child and having the rest over their eyes. The one child then dressed up as the community helper and the children had to guess who it was. One child, who Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. Preschool Observation Paper SETTING The date of my observation was April 27th, 2010. It was about 9:30 in the morning when I began my study. I went to Grossmont College's Child Development Center. The first thing I began looking for was if the child–teacher ratio was correct. The child ratio was 2 teachers to about every 8 children. The ratio was good. As I entered there was one large room that almost looked as if it could be two rooms they way it was set up. One half consisted of a large bookshelf with numerous books on it with a couch in the front of it. The other half of the room was almost like a little kitchen. It had a table with chairs around it with a sink and cabinets behind it. There were "age appropriate" toys as well as books all over the...show more content... She is right handed. Addison's use of her right hand is evidence lateralization, or sidedness, of the brain. As the corpus callosum connects it allows the person to coordinate functions performed mainly by one hemisphere or the other (Berger 8th edition connecting the Brain's hemispheres, pg. 226). According to the text the corpus collasum grows rapidly during early childhood. (Addison, at 5, is within in this norm (Berger 8th edition pg. 226). Her fine motor skills were being shown off in many ways throughout my observation. Addison used her plastic spoon to carefully add new colors of paint into her box. She displayed fine motor skills, which involve small body movements (especially those of the hands and fingers) (Berger 8th edition page 234). She is actually advanced for her age because according to (Berger 8th edition pg. 232 table 8.1) bit says the approximate age is 6 when a child will draw and paint with preferred hand. Addison painted by herself around the other children for almost 10 minutes. Addison showed signs of Preservation, which refers to the tendency to preserve in, or stick to, one thought or action (Berger 8th edition pg. 228). Once Addison was done painting she then told the teacher "I'm done", and the teacher advised her to go wash her hands. She walks over to the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. Preschool Classroom Observation Essay I had the pleasure of doing my observations on a preschool classroom. Through my experiences on that day, I could observe how children on three to five years old communicate with others. Based on what I observed, I noticed that children on these ages communicate by using more words and bigger sentences, also they speak more clearly. Listening how children communicate in their classroom, I reached to the conclusion that those children in their three years old communicate different than those who have five years old, because I when I talked with children that have three years sometimes they don't speak very clearly. When I had the opportunity to asked their names sometimes I could not understand some of the names when the children spoke, Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. Preschool Child Care Observation I did my child care observation at The Children's Center here in Asheboro. I observed a classroom that was made up of 2–3 year olds. The classroom was very spacious and was sectioned off into different centers where the children were able to play. The class had about 12 children and there were 2 teachers in there supervising and guiding the children. Thus showing that the class was in compliance with the teacher/ratio state rule. I actually talked to the director there and she said that they never reached the maximum group size that was allowed because she wanted every child to get the maximum attention and care that a teacher could provide the children with. I also did have the opportunity to talk to the teachers and find out more about them. Both teachers did have their credentials and one had her...show more content... • 11. Essay On Preschool Observation When I went to go observe the preschool lab I saw right around thirteen kids and two teachers that were in the room with them at that time. The reason why I believe it is important to have more kids than teachers is that it allows the kids to interact with each other which will allow them to develop better socially with kids their age. Having a few teachers also allows them to have an authority figurehead that they answer to and listen to. It is important to only have a few though because I feel like if you had a ton of different teachers it would confuse the kids who to listen to because there are multiple authority figures who may be saying different things. When I was watching I noticed that most of the kids were interacting with the other children in the room in one way or another. There were a few who would play by themselves for a while but...show more content... He was a very energetic and very colorful kid which is the main reason why I chose to even observe him. When I first started observing him he was playing with a string by himself but then some other kids decided to join him and at first he seemed like he didn't want them to play with him but the teacher told him that he should share with them. He straightway followed the directions from the teacher and shared with the other kids and he actually had a really good time and loved to play with those other kids. I noticed that he was really hands on with all the different activities that were there even if they weren't technically "hands on" activities. He was very interactive with all of those in the room whether that be one of the other kids or with the teachers. He was very talkative and actually made sense for the most part whenever he would talk to those around him. He was pretty good for the most part in expressing his feelings through words but he did sometimes grunt or yell if he was frustrated with others around Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 12. Preschool Observation Report On November 17th, 2015, I did an observation in the Children Center of California State University, Sacramento through Desired Results Developmental profile–Preschool (DRDP). I did my observation about my focal child. For the purpose of confidentiality, I will call her Lina. She is a three–year–old girl. When I walked into the room, most of kid were still taking a nap, only couple of them woke up. There were about sixteen kids and two teachers. Since the other kids were napping, teachers did not allow them to play themselves. Lina woke up, sat on her napping mat quietly, and tried to fold her blanket. When she saw other kids left their mats, she stopped playing with her blanket, went close to other kids, and tried to talk to them. For this...show more content... Children would like to know others' name, also wanted others to remember their name. From Lina's conversations and behaviors, l noticed that children wanted to know each other's name before they played together. If some children had activities with familiar adults, the other kids would like to participate. Children could play positively at any time, but when kids needed to use the materials or space, they would not make a concession to share with others. Children do not know how to express their empathy, but sometimes, they might laugh instead of helping. Due to the time limitation, I was not able to observe all the measures from the DRDP, such as the impulse and conflict. For three–year–old children, when they have impulse or conflict with others, if they could not help themselves, the first idea they might come up is ask teacher for help, but most of time, children can forget what happened easily. They might cry in the last minute, but smile in the next minute, or play with the same kids happily after the impulse and conflict. The DRDP is a good tool to observe children on their recognition with own skills and accomplishment, their relationships with peers and adults, also how they manage their emotions with impulse and conflict Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 13. Essay On Early Childhood Observation Child observation occurred in a large preschool classroom at Southwestern School Corporation's Early Childhood Academy in the morning of November 30th for one hour. The classroom was divided by a curtain to separate the younger and older class. Tables for the children were located in the center of the room, facing the teacher's desk and chalkboard, while toys and games (costumes, play kitchen, etc.) were located on the perimeter of the room. My fellow peer and I sat at a small table in the back corner of the classroom to observe the older age group, which consisted of children ranging from 3.5 to 4 years of age. There were approximately nine children, four of which were girls and five were boys. Two adults/teachers were supervising the children. The child who served as the primary focus of observation seemed to be one of the older boys in the class based on size and language capabilities. For the purpose of this observation, the child will be referred to as Eli. Eli was one of the more outgoing and confident children in the classroom and seemed to dominate most social situations in which he engaged. He constantly moved throughout the room, interacting with as many children as possible, and throwing himself in every social situation. Instead of asking if he could play with a group of children, he asked: "Do you want me to play with you?" His domination of social settings seemed to frustrate some of the other children. He often took toys from children and took over Get more content on HelpWriting.net

This is a new facility and just the host teacher was in there at this time. I came into the classroom at 8:00 and left at 9:00. I spoke with the host teacher before and after the observation for feedback, which I felt was beneficial to both her and me. I observed the children during inside for 20 minutes. I observed the children during outside play for 40 minutes. C. Kehrer (2015) stated, "Encouragement and praise is not something that I really think about when I am doing it; I just do it." Therefore, when I asked how she offered praise and encouragement, it took a minute for her to think about it. She finally responded stating...show more content... Most of the time, the children were responsive and followed the rules after the teachers offered feedback. Several children did not respond the same, but after a few attempts, it was effective. The difference in certain children, from what I have observed is how the teachers approached the child. Therefore, the different approaches of how the teachers came to the child made a huge impact on how those children responded. They all were appreciative of the praise and encouragement they were Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 15. Preschool Observation Preschool Observation Setting: I observed Anna, age four years and five months, on March 24, 2006, at St. Andrew's Lutheran Church Preschool. I observed for two and one–half hours from 9:15 am to 11:45 am. The preschool has three teachers and a full enrollment of 24 children, ages four and five, on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. They also have 24 children, age three, on Tuesday and Thursday. On the Friday that I visited, there were 21 children in attendance. There is a large enclosed play area outside. There is a large covered sandbox area with several toys including large plastic scoops, a large metal spoon, plastic bowls, shovels and buckets, a large play structure with a slide and climbing apparatus, a log cabin play house with ...show more content... 246). Her fine motor skills are developing after the gross motor skills, following the proximodistal progression, control of the arms, then hands, then the fingers for fine motor skills (Chapter Five outline). As is common for this age, Anna may not have a dominant hand yet, although she does do more things with her right hand than she does with her left hand. When Anna was putting her graham cracker pieces back together, this may have been deferred imitation (p. 174); having watched other people put puzzles together. When Anna was sharing tools and playing with her friends in the play house, she was participating in "Cooperative Play (p. 305); children play together, either jointly creating an elaborate game or structure or taking turns. Social: (Description) From 9:45 am to 10:15 am, Anna was inside with her individual group of six girls and two boys and their teacher for story time, sharing, weather report, and selection of books. Anna listened to the teacher read, "Duck in the truck". The teacher keeps Anna's attention by pointing out different things on the pages. Then the teacher holds up cards with something wrong in each picture. Anna and a friend on either side of her are enjoying figuring out what is wrong with each picture. Anna is friendly and is not aggressive. She relates well to the teacher and answers questions. Earlier, when Anna was outside in the sandbox, she gave scoops to two other girls to play with while she played with the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 16. Examples Of Preschool Observation The preschool that I observed is the Twelfth Baptist Church. The school has an outdoor playground surrounded by fence and has a gate. The playground is a grass floor and there are two plays' equipment with thick outdoor rubber flooring. The teacher went with children and they took a back bag with them, I asked her why she took this bag and what is inside it? She told me this is like an emergency bag it has tissue, plastics bandage and first aid materials for the kids and we cannot go out to outdoor playground without it. The teacher divided the children to three groups, kindergarteners 2 and some from kindergarteners 1 to play some race and running games and the rest of the children can play on the games then they will change. • 17. Preschool Child Observation On May 2, 2018, I went to the Williams College Children's Center to observe a group of children and see how signs of development show up in everyday life. According to the website, the Center serves a wide age range of children, going from six weeks to preschool, while also caring for elementary–aged children with after–school care. However, the group I observed when going to the Center were the preschool children that were roughly 3 to 4 years old. Arriving at 10 AM, the group started the session with show and tell, before moving on to play outside. Within the hour, there were many examples of physical/motor, perceptual, cognitive, language, and emotional/social development from the children that was very appropriate to see within their particular age range. Language Development In the beginning of the session, the teacher began with an activity that consisted of the kids picking a body part and then the class singing along saying, "My _____ is starting to wiggle." Each student got the chance to pick a body part they would move on to sing about and their answers usually consisted of only 2 word sentences, while pointing at the body part they chose. This helped the children associate the particular names of their body parts to where it...show more content... They got a cup from their cubby and asked one of the teachers for water. Then as they were walking with the cup filled with water, they began to walk slower than they did when the cup was empty. This shows a strong example of perceptual development as they are becoming aware of the social and physical environment through their senses. They realized running with a cup of water would cause it to spill and they could also bump into one of the tables around the classroom. As a result, it could be seen that this is an important skill to develop as it shows a heightened awareness of everything that's going on and adapting to handle those Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 18. Examples Of Preschool Observation My observation of children took place at a private preschool. The name of this preschool "Music, Art Shostacovish school". As this a summer time, there were only 3 small groups of children. First group has children from 2–3 years old, second 3–4 and third 4–5, and each group has only one teacher. I observed second group. There were about 7 children that day, 5 girls and 2 boys. But as per teacher, Miss Alena, this group has 9 kids. This group was pretty diverse. One boy was from Kazakstan and didn't speak English, another girl from Ukraine and also didn't speak English. Other children were half–speaking Russian/English. My observation started at 9:30 am, and kids just finished their breakfast. Then they proceed to the room to play. They were there approximately for 30 min. This room include a lot of books, toys and one piano Casio keyboards. Children played, also I introduced myself to them using the song "Hello, Hello, What's your name?" • 19. Preschoolers Observation From this OIR I have learned about the communication and language skills and also literacy skills of toddlers/preschoolers. I have learned that children's communication skills start developing early on and the more you work with children, talking with them, asking them questions, and engaging in activities with them, will further help those skills be strengthened. I learned that children can hear the differences of sounds when they are born, and in some cases it can be more challenging than others. I have also learned that there are more than just verbal communications, I learned from observing F that many times he watched what was going on first (i.e. giving the ball to B). I will use this information by encouraging them to engage more with Get more content on HelpWriting.net
