Christian education for kindergarten

  1. 1. Christian Education
  2. 2. Republic Act 10157, or “The Kindergarten Education Law” curriculum/kindergarten/
  3. 3. • Made Kindergarten the compulsory and mandatory entry stage to basic education. Section 2 of this Act provides that all five (5)-year old children shall be given equal opportunities for Kindergarten Education to effectively promote their physical, social, emotional and intellectual development, including values formation so they will be ready for school. This was so since the Department of Education (DepEd) believes that Kindergarten is the transition period from informal to formal literacy (Grades 1-12) considering that age five (5) is within the critical years where positive experiences must be nurtured to ascertain school readiness.
  4. 4. Importance Of Pre School Education (Preparatory, Nursery and Kinder)
  5. 5. Preparatory Education Is an education provided at a school for young children usually from three to five years old .
  6. 6. Researches on Pre School education have shown that children taught at an early age usually have improved social skills, fewer behavioral problems and better grades without special and attention. Self confidence gained by learning in a playful manner adds to the personality development of the child.
  7. 7. This is the first exercise in which children are separated from the comfort and secure zone of their parents. • Therefore, it has to be a place which is a second home to the child; a place, which has enough material to attract and make the child feel comfortable and secure.
  8. 8. • A child learns the importance of his own name, things and friends. Every child learns to communicate with his teachers and fellow students in the nursery. This is the first place where the child builds his/her self-esteem.
  9. 9. • It is the right place for the child’s foundation for lifelong progress. The skills and knowledge that the child develops in the nursery have a great impact on the aptitude and attitude of the child later in life. This is the first place where the child builds his/her self-esteem.
  10. 10. What a teacher should expect in teaching Kinder Students?
  11. 11. Some Tricks for teaching Kinder Student
  12. 12. 1.Start at the very beginning. Don’t assume they know how to do anything. Teach them everything. How to knock at the bathroom door, how to close it behind them, how to wash hands, throw away towels … routines, routines, routines.” — Shannon T.
  13. 13. 2. Prepare yourself for kids with a wide range of skills. “Be ready for kids who are readers, kids who have never seen letters, and everything in between. I love my kinders dearly and find so much joy in watching their little light bulbs go on for the first time! They’re a different bunch to be sure, but they’re a blast!” —Maggie V.
  14. 14. 3. Use a washable stuffed animal as a class pet.
  15. 15. Low maintenance (essential for teaching kindergarten), high fun! Kids will love taking turns bringing it home to care for it over the weekend. This is also teaching kids to take responsibility of taking care of something borrowed.
  16. 16. 4. Keep your kids moving all day long! “Plan lessons/activities that last no more than 15 minutes, with some kind of movement activity in between. (Moving from the circle to the table counts, as does clapping a pattern, or head, shoulders, knees, and toes.)” — Anne H.
  17. 17. Take your class on a mini- adventure on the first day.“I teach routines, rules, but I also go on some kind of ‘adventure.’ My adventure is going through the school to find where everything is, the bathrooms, the nurse, the front office, the cafeteria (which we practice going through the line), library, etc. I’ve done fishing where I have fish (or a jungle animal if that was my theme) hanging at each place and they collect them in a bucket as we go around taking turns and collecting through the whole school. They love it.” —Dana H.
