My Classroom Experience
It was very sad to end my time at Adams. I had a really amazing time getting to know the kids and seeing what it was like in a classroom on a daily
basis. The students were also sad to see it come to an end. They were use to having me come into their classroom and be another teacher for them.
In the last two weeks the students started to do another reading assessment. To do this, they would sit down with the teacher and read out loud to
her, pointing at each word as they read. This was to see if they were making the connection of the words that they were saying and the words that
they were reading. The students have been taking home reading books over the last month and she was seeing if the students' reading was
improving. She was also evaluating if students needed to continue at the same level that they are currently on, or if they were ready to move up to
the next level. Over the last few weeks I have been preparing crafts, helping students, and organizing the classroom. The students are going to start
getting reading books from the class library and keeping them for a period of time to read. The kids like to store lots of papers and other things in
their reading bins, so I prepared them (cleaned them out) for them to start using next week. They have been doing a lot of activities relating to the
upcoming holidays. What I have noticed from doing these activities with the students is that it is really important to teach them the meaning behind
what these holidays really

Effective Classroom Management Essay
Classroom management is a key element to establish a successful learning environment in any classroom. An effective classroom management plan
creates a positive learning environment. Classroom management is affected by the characteristics of the students and their behavior. Students' behavior
is influenced by their age, academic abilities, goals, interests, and home backgrounds (Evertson, Emmer, and Worsham, 2006). Teachers need a diverse
array of classroom management skills to facilitate learning. A classroom with a proper management plan will spend less time in disciplining and more
time in learning. Students in effectively managed classrooms know and follow clearly defined rules and routines. A classroom management plan

Frequent communication with families which includes positive information makes school wide discipline effective (T.L.Musy, Personal communication,
October 3rd, 2006). Consistency is an important element in school wide discipline. Rules applied consistently through out the school are easy for
students to learn. An effective teacher learns school rules and procedures before the year begins. This would be helpful for the teacher to set up her/his
own classroom discipline plan (Evertson, Emmer, and Worsham, 2006).
Teachers should have a discipline plan before the school year begins. Effective discipline plan includes various techniques to avoid, support, and correct
inappropriate behavior in the classroom.
Preventive discipline
Preventing misbehavior is widely preferable rather than dealing with it after it has occurred. A Preventive discipline plan involves steps taken in a
classroom to avoid disciplinary problems. Potentially this discipline deals with the distractions in the classroom and how a classroom environment can
be modified so it is more compatible with the learning needs of its children (Edwards, 2004). Preventive discipline plan refers to the strategies that can
be implemented to inhibit inappropriate behaviors from occurring in the first place (T.L.Musy, Personal communication, October 10th, 2006). Kounin's
concepts of withitness and overlapping skills of a teacher help in preventing discipline problems (Evertson, Emmer, and Worsham,

Essay about The Future Classroom
When we look at our society today, there is no doubt that our education system is undergoing another revolution. Technology has advanced to the point
where it has made information widely accessible, and its convenience has established new means of independent learning. Students are able to learn
from a seamlessly infinite resource, and now schools face a competitor in the distribution of knowledge. Now as schools attempt to integrate technology
into the school environment, there are challenges in defining the next generation of classrooms. Through our Alternate Worlds class, we have
attempted to integrate technology into the class with both success and disappointment. However, though technology provides a great resource for
education,...show more content...
Like a future classroom our class embraces technology as a tool for education. Through websites, blogs, and streaming online media, our class takes all
forms except the traditional lecture style. Another way in which this class is an example of a future classroom is in the way we communicate. Through
forums, chat boxes and emails, our class communicates through instant mediums instead of face–to–face contact. One final way in which this class is a
model for future classrooms is in the responsibility that students have for their own education. Students in our class make their own schedule to keep
up in class and are bounded by a loose schedule. Students are given flexibility in where and when they want to work, which is different from traditional
classrooms that meet on strict schedules.
Though our online class exemplifies many characteristics of a future classroom, our class stays traditional in several ways. One similarity between
our classroom and a traditional classroom is that students still hold the responsibility for submitting in work to be graded. Students still need to be
assessed on whether or not they are keeping on task with readings, and so assignments and projects are still used like in traditional education settings.
Our class is also similar to traditional classes in which there is a professor who takes part in ensuring that we stay actively on schedule

My Thoughts On The Classroom
Honestly, when I walked into the classroom on the first day, I didn't know what to expect. I had signed up for the course just as a way to get credit
for an IDS requirement, and did not think too much about this class at first. My thoughts were racing as the idea of a circled classroom seemed
kind of strange to me. However, after that first day, I knew that I was going to enjoy the class. We talked about each other before we did anything
else. We formally introduced ourselves and expressed our feelings and beliefs to one another, and showed every person in that room that we all have
our differences, but, we can still share this experience together. This was different than any other class that I had previously taken, last semester, or in
high school. There was so much to this class that I could use in everyday life than probably any other class previously taken. We were taught lessons
that had helped change our lives for the better. We were also introduced to such inspirational characters, whether it be Julia Butterfly Hill,Henry David
Thoreau, or even some people we never got the names. The videos that were shown to us were also very inspiring, and they definitely made me
think of what we are doing as a nation, or better yet, as a species of animal living on this planet. There was so much that I have learned, that I cannot
simply forget in a day's notice, unlike most other classes this semester. The knowledge that I have gathered is truly a gift, that I will be thankful for

Diversity in the Classroom Essay
Diversity in classrooms can open student's minds to all the world has to offer. At times diversity and understanding of culture, deviant experiences and
perspectives can be difficult to fulfill, but with appropriate strategies and resources, it can lead students gaining a high level of respect for those unlike
them, preferably than a judgmental and prejudiced view. Diversity has broad ranges of spectrums. Students from all across the continent; students from
political refugees, indigenous Americans, and immigrants bring their culture and linguistic skills to American classrooms. Students do not only bring
their cultures and linguistic skills, but they bring their ethnics, talents, and skills. In addition, their age and gender are two...show more content...
Every student and teacher has a cultural identity. Their cultural identity is defined by their beliefs, values and behaviors. Their cultures can be different
among others, which creates diversity. Classrooms full of students and teachers with different backgrounds can be beneficial for students and teachers
themselves. By exploring and accepting many differences and cultures of people among them, they are taught to understand cultural differences, they
from a strong sense of their own cultural identity. Once students and teachers are aware of cultural differences, they become aware of racism and can
fight to eradiate it. Through their unbiased understanding of the differences between cultures and races, they are able to come to a point of acceptance
of themselves and others. If you noticed in my previous paragraph, I mentioned the different types of diversity. Diversity emphasizes how different
students and teachers are, but when explored in a classroom, can be used to reveal our similarities. Once students and teachers grasp the concept of
diversity, displayed through everyday interactions with diverse groups of students and teachers, racism begins to disappear. In addition, positive sense
of self can be developed once students and teachers have an understanding of their own uniqueness through experiences and understanding of diversity.

My Classroom / Learning Style
Teaching, both as a teacher and as a student, has changed drastically over the years. Even as a student for the past 16 years of my life, I have found
that even my classroom / learning style has developed as I age. Not only has my learning style changed, but the way that teachers teach has evolved
over time. On another personal note, within my student observation classroom, I spoke with my cooperating teacher about her varying teaching style
and how she incorporates all types of learning across various subject areas. Ms. F mentioned that she has had to change the way she teaches a variety
of times depending on the learning capabilities of her students. Much like the psychologists and theorists of the past, Ms. F has come to base her...show

When the behavioral way of teaching falters, teachers have found that the sociocultural and constructivist ways of teaching can help pick up the slack.
"These theories inform many teachers who believe it is their job to help ALL students develop the intelligence, understanding, and problem solving
skills necessary to fil important roles in a diverse and democratic society" (Oakes, 163). Since the 1960s, researchers have come to find that learning is
actually an active experience. This means that in order to learn, students must interact with others in order to make sense and comprehend the material.
They can take their experiences from the outside world and use them to their advantage, by relating them to things they learn in the classroom.
Theorists Piaget and Vygotsky prided themselves in their understanding of how childhood learning in is in direct correlation with how children develop
cognitively. This was revolutionary Sociocultural and constructivist theories place inclusive principles at the center of their learning. These theories
also encourage a broader view of culture and suggest that teachers have a powerful role in providing all their students with opportunities (Oakes, 167).
Encouraging a broader view comes with advantages and disadvantages. Firstly, there are numerous ways that an educator can incorporate a
sociocultural environment into the classroom. For example, treating differences as assets, setting high

Becoming a teacher can be an exciting and challenging experience for anyone. It can be quite difficult to put four years of knowledge into their
teaching and into a classroom environment. And while it may seem challenging at first it does become easier over time.
A teacher is not only someone who teaches, but they are a symbol of learning.
A teacher is a person who plays the most important role in the development of any student. The future of those students depends on the qualities and the
dedication of that teacher. It is the teacher who creates an interest in students to develop and to progress. It is the teacher who helps the students
achieve whatever aims they set for themselves.
Teachers have a lot to do with motivating...show more content...
The curriculum then becomes more relevant, therefore the motivation for the students to accomplish the tasks increases.
The subject matter not only has to be relevant but it also has to be stimulating to the students' curiosity. If a student is bored with the content, they are
not going to want to learn it.
The classroom also has to be seen as a caring and supportive place with a sense of belonging. Every student must feel respected, valued and heard.
Giving children the support for learning by welcoming their questions and encouraging exploration is very important for teachers to do.
Extrinsic motivators are sometimes used when teachers have a student or class who feels like they have earn't something for their hard work. This
could be things such as stickers or stamps on their homework and tests. Or it could be receiving verbal or written praise. It could be just the thing that
motivates certain students. But not all students need to be extrinsically motivated. Teachers need to find out which type of motivation works best for
which student to help them succeed.
Classroom teaching is more likely to be effective when it is informed by an understanding of how students learn. Constructivism is the current approach
to learning in Australian schools today. Constructivism is how each student goes about constructing his or her own knowledge. This type of

My Vision For My Future Classroom
My Vision
My vision for my future classroom is to create an atmosphere where each individual feels accepted and valued. It is my goal to discover ways to make
learning innovative, enjoyable, creative, and rewarding. I will strive to discover my strengths, then use them to empower my students. Hopefully this
leads to positive outcomes within each student and transforms the way my classroom operates. I would love to teach elementary level students,
preferably grades 1–3, because that is my passion. In this type of classroom, I would teach the basics of every subject for that grade. I believe that I
would excel with the variety that this role has to offer. I am open to teaching anywhere and in any type of school, due to the fact myeducation was both
in public and parochial schools. If possible, I will use technology to enhance my teaching. I would love to incorporate technology into my classroom
because it makes learning more efficient, increases student creativity, and creates endless learning possibilities by giving every student a customizable
learning experience.
Basic Information
Splash Math is an app that helps kids review, improve, and refine their personal math skills. The basic app month trail is free, but if parents and
teachers wish to use the app longer they must pay a monthly or annual rate. Also a teacher or parent account must be created before the child is
allowed to play the app. However, this can be beneficial because adults may create individual profiles

I was excited to start my school but didn't know that I was actually going to face a problem because of my Asian Heritage. I went inside the
classroom and sat down quietly in a corner. I saw students entering in the classroom and every time a student pass by they were making a weird
face. I felt uncomfortable suddenly a student behind me tapped on my shoulder and asked me "Hey man you also drive a taxi?" I gently replied
"No". "You look like one of them" and everyone starts to laugh. At that moment, I knew something was wrong but wasn't sure what was it. Every day I
entered the classroom they were addressing me in different names someday a "taxi driver" someday a "Dunkin Donuts employee". I told my cousin
what was going on in my classroom he told me "don't let them bully you it's a stereotype here". I decided not to worry about what they were
addressing me I will go to school and continue my study in order to finish my TASC and move forward. At the end of the month, I was surprised to
be the only one from my class who was selected by the teachers to go forward and took the TASC exam. Despite being bullied in the classroom I
successfully passed the exam with a 100% attendance. Everything seems to get better and I was preparing myself for college I saw a Billboard about
"US Army National Guard" and on the bottom of the billboard was stating that "You are Needed". Out of my curiosity, I looked up the website and
the very next day I was knocking the door of "Army National

Classroom Culture In The Classroom
Classroom Culture.
In order to create a positive classroom culture, teacher need to promote positive relationships between students and with students by taking an interest
and have respect for each other. It is extremely important for teacher to get to know the students, their families, and their culture. When a student
knows their teacher cares about them, then a relationship of trust will exist between a student and teacher. According to Sayeski and Brown (2011),
"teachers who had positive relationships with their student had 31 % fewer discipline problems and rule violations over the course of the year than
teachers who did not" (p. 12). In order to know more about them, I will send home a poster board where the students can fill it with any information
they would like me and their classmates to know. This constructivist approach gives them the opportunity to be creative and choose what they want to
share. The essentialist approach of sending home a questionnaire for the family to fill out will help collect information important to understanding the
student. This is the only category where I consider myself an essentialist and constructivist due to how information will be gathered about my students,
but this will allow me to build the framework for a positive learning environment for everyone. Having students create a poster will allow their peers to
get to know them as an individual. Another way to create a positive environment is having students work together to keep

My Classroom Experience
As I walked into an American classroom for the first time I was amazed. There were bright posters everywhere. A snack station, napping area, and play
station. Right in the middle, there was a huge round rug with words that were foreign to me. It looked more like a huge play area rather than a
classroom. I was nervous yet excited. When I entered my classroom, my dad said: "Sub Kuch say, Hoga," (everything will be fine) in Urdu. I didn't
have a wide variety of vocabulary in Urdu either, but those four words made me feel safe. As my dad was about to leave me, I began to get a jittery
feeling. Class finally started. "A is for Apple, B is for Boy." As a 4
–year–old with no concept of English those words were foreign to me. Not
understanding what my teacher or anyone around me was saying frightened me. After being confused and having no idea of what was going on
this lady walked into the room with a smile that brightened my day. She started to speak to me in Urdu, and I didn't feel scared anymore. I had
someone who would understand me, and I could understand her. Her name was Ms. Usmani. She took me to a different classroom. It didn't look as
fun as the other classroom. As I walked in there were a few other students, they looked as nervous as me, and truthfully that made me happy. Knowing
that there were students who felt the same way I did comforted me. I remember Ms. Usmani saying how I would spend most of my time in this
classroom. I didn't know what to feel about that. I was

Examples Of Classroom Observation
Classroom Observation:
–Connect Administrator–conducted observation to my reflections of practice
–Focus on progress made in key areas of strength and needed focus
I started this year with a new assignment as a Basic Skills teacher for ELA in grades 1–5. Changing students every 40 minutes and only seeing students
twice a week was quite a challenge for me. As a proponent of differentiated instruction and the Daily 5, I was used to rotating through my students
as needed for a variety of skills because they were available to me all day long. My lessons had to be shorter and couldn't carry over more than one
additional session because students would forget. Having experience with grades 4 & 5, I found this transition much easier perhaps because I was
already familiar with the curriculum and pacing for that age group. Grade 3 required only minor adjustments in my lessons, where I would have to
slow down the pace and choose major targets. However, first and second grade presented more of a struggle for me in timing and content. As a result I
decided to focus on grades 1 and 2 for my SGOs.
My grade 1 SGO focused on A–Z Reading levels, whereas, the SGO for grade 2 focused on a reading passage that was revised into a PARCC–like
assessment. The initial pre–test was scary! Only teaching these students twice a week, I thought I was in over my head. I knew that I could have a
greater impact on their success if I had more time with them; but reality dictated otherwise. The issue of time has been a frustration of mine all year!
Each week I would prepare lessons that included phonics/ spelling, and a reading skill connected to writing. This was difficult because the students
are from different classes and the teachers may be teaching different skills. As a result, I began looking more deeply at their standards using the NJ
Model Curriculum and decided to focus on the major reading and writing skills which were those that spiraled up such as theme, compare and contrast,
and character traits and motivations. All of these skills could easily be connected to PARCC–like writing. So now I had a plan. It was time to implement.
I started with short stories to teach Close Reading and annotations. This was working out well. Students

My Favorite Class Essay
My favorite classes this year were Mrs. Menzel's two english classes. I have learned so much about myself as a reader, student, and an intellectual.
Through both of her classes, we were given endless amounts of opportunity. What I mean by this is, we got to choose our own topics to study,
books to read, and subjects to write about. We were truly treated like adults, which in my eyes, helped prepare us for the "real world". Her
willingness to let us grow as individuals was very inspiring, because she believed that we could do it on our own, with a little push whenever we
needed it. I have gotten the chance to discover that I actually enjoy reading! Specifically, I discovered that Jodi Picoult might be my favorite author
as of now. Also, I realized that writing is one of my favorite things to do, it is a passion of mine and I hope I can continue it somehow with the career
that I choose.
Personally, her two classes have helped me grow as a speaker, writer, and reader. In her CCC class, I was able to write a profile on my dad, which
really strengthened my relationship with him. After printing him a copy, and seeing tears in his eyes made me very grateful for this experience to
share with him how much of a role model he is to me. In her English Lit class, I was able to ask my grandma and mom what books they would
recommend for me. Having these conversations with them made their hearts warm, since I was showing interest in books for once (they are both
book lovers). Her class pushed me to be the best that I can, and it wasn't for the grade that I got. It was for learning about myself, and what I was
capable of. That's when I learned that her classes are actually changing me as a student. For an example, when I was working on a project, I wasn't
basing every single sentence on what the rubric told me to do. I was branching out and working on it because I truly wanted to learn more about the
topic and put my all into it.
Thankfully, I have matured a great amount as a student because of Mrs. Menzel and her life lessons through teaching, and by just being herself. I
truly feel ready for college now because of Mrs. Menzel, and I am grateful for that. This year, I changed my intended major from Business to Education,

Classroom Behavior Essay
Would you be surprised to learn that in today's classroom children sometimes aren't learning due to behavioral issues? Teachers are attempting to teach
classes in which students can be disruptive, disrespectful and defiant. Classrooms are often overcrowded which adds to the frustration of the situation.
Teachers are often tempted to take the easy way out, using antiquated strategies that will usually not help the child to learn. In fact, some types of
punishments can actually cause the child to become even more rebellious. The child can experience a sense of worthlessness after being punished again
and again.
Children do not act out because they are "bad." They act out in the hopes of receiving some kind of response or reward. In the...show more content...
On the other hand, if that child fills the need for attention by getting into trouble at school, they will get into trouble. Skinner tells us that
"non–reinforcement leads to the extinction of a behavior." In other words if teachers figure out what the child is getting from exhibiting a particular
behavior, they can then give that child the exact opposite of the expected response. If our response is consistent the child will eventually give up the
behavior in lieu of another which yields more satisfying results. The reward system is sometimes turned around to reinforce poor behavior. Often,
children who are misbehaving are looking for some sort of a reaction. It is possible that they believe that it is better to not even try than to try and fail.
It could also be true that the only type of attention they receive comes from the instances in which they misbehave. Although as adults it may seem
logical that one would avoid being singled out or chastised, children who have little sense of self worth will "take what they can get." Skinner calls his
strategy for dealing with disruption "non–reinforcement." Skinner's theory claims that "non–reinforcement leads to extinction of behavior." By
ignoring disruptive behavior, a teacher can extinguish it. Eventually, the disruptive student will realize that their behavior will not gain any response
will seek another way to belong to the group.

My Teaching Philosophy Essay
My Teaching Philosophy I believe that education extends far beyond the classroom walls, and involves many more people than students and
teachers. People should be learning wherever they go, and should continue learning long after they've graduated from high school or college.
Education isn't something that can be quantified with tests or report cards, but is instead something that people carry with them. It's a survival pack
for life, and some people are better equipped in certain areas than in others. People with a solid education are prepared for nearly anything, as they
will be able to provide for their own physical, emotional, and aesthetic needs. That being said, I also believe that a crucial part of education does...show

The roles of a teacher are so many and so varied that it is impossible to list them all, but one of the most important is preparing students to learn, not
only in the classroom, but everywhere, and for the rest of their lives. Learning is not a skill that is necessarily instinctual or easy, and therefore
different approaches must be used to make learning easier and more fun for students. Teaching is not a skill that can be memorized or made
repetitive, and so teachers must continue to challenge not only their students, but also themselves. Teachers that become complacent in their jobs are
not good teachers. Those who can find a way to make an old lesson new and exciting will have an energized classroom, and will be reenergized
themselves. Every child is different. That sounds like an obvious statement, but so many ineffective teachers seem to forget this. Each student has his
or her own varying abilities, talents, and levels of competence, and it is the job of a teacher not only to recognize this, but to help each student
recognize this as well. If a child isn't doing well in a particular subject, both the teacher and the student should work towards figuring out why, and the
teacher should accept the challenge of finding a way to make a particular subject more

My Career as a Teacher Essay
As I begin my rewarding career as I teacher, I sit and reflect on what my goals and priorities are in the classroom. I am excited to be engaged in a
future career where I can implement my own beliefs and mold the future into something extremely positive. I believe the most important aspects that I
want to bring to my students are threefold: I want to educate, motivate, and inspire.
In order to have a productive learning environment where I will be able to educate my students, many different factors must take place. First and
foremost, it is important to me that I master exceptional classroom management skills. Effective and efficient learning takes place when expectations in

These learning styles include; auditory, visual, and kinesthetic. By mastering and using as many learning styles as I can, I will make sure each student
is able to get the most out of their learning experience. I understand that every child learns differently and understanding how to use different
approaches in each lesson plan will benefit every student. Not only is it important to use different learning styles but I will also use different teaching
styles during the curriculum. The different methods I would like to use to teach my lessons include but are not limited to; scientific investigation which
uses the scientific method. The scientific method includes first investigating the problem, coming up with a logical hypothesis, performing the
experiment, reading the results, and finally completing an analysis of the results. The next method I would explore is decision making which is the
thought process of selecting a logical choice from the available options. Next is problem solving. When I teach the students to problem solve
accurately they be able to overcome obstacles and find a solution that best resolves the issue. Next, I will help my students think critically which
includes identification and evaluation to problem solving. Finally, I will use the method of cooperative learning which is an approach to organizing
classroom activities into academic and social learning experience. I believe that every one of these method can be valued

My Classroom Assessments
As I reflect back over this semester I am amazed at the breadth and depth we have covered in short amount of time, and the amount of material I have
learned while working full time, coaching, driving back and home from work each week, which is several hours away, and taking care of my son,
who had brain surgery this last year, and my mother in–law who fell on December 20, fracturing her foot in 10 places, and then my surgery on
February 5. I realize the only the material is relevant to this reflection paper, however all have had an impact on my learning, and are reasons why I took
the fall semester off. I truly enjoy learning, challenging myself, setting an example for my two sons and sometimes accepting a lower grade to help
family members.

Bias was another topic, as it rendered assessment invalid. Validity and reliability were difficult topics as I encountered personal challenges. Bias is a

As we were looking at the different types of assessment, we were also given opportunities to practice each of the assessment types. While I thoroughly
enjoy writing objectives and performance–based assessments, I found the multiple–choice questions and the essay questions to be the most difficult. I
have to admit that before we learned that all of the above should never be used in a multiple–choice question, I had used it, and several time too. So I

My Classroom Reflection
The entire chapter of best practices has no shortage of information and ideas for up and coming teachers and gives ideas of how to achieve certain
goals in a classroom. I almost wish I could just list all of the concepts that I want to use in my own classroom for when I start my first year of
teaching. But I get to pick three I want to talk about in greater detail and two concepts which I really want to use in my own classroom. Some of the
concepts that were talked about that I would still like to keep in mind, even if I don't find them to be in my top three are; the layers of classroom
management, setting up different workgroups, leaving comments on student's papers, and different practices to make writing meaningful. This being
said I want to keep these in the back of my mind so they are prepared as I get closer to becoming a teacher. The three main concepts for me are;
having a daily routine, noise and structured chaos, and having pen–pals. No matter what age of a child it is important they understand the value of
having a daily routine put into places, not only for the students but for the teacher as well. The book identifies ways to make sure a daily routine is
up to par in making one an effective teacher. Some example of this, that I would also like to see in my own classroom, are having the next week's
lessons plans ready to go, making sure the first day is about the students getting to know you a little better and knowing their classmates as well, and

Personal Narrative: The Classroom
My substitute teacher, Mrs. Johanson, was awesome. We were My class was lucky that our real teacher, Mrs. Vanderlip, was having a baby. If she

easy. She pushed us to be our best and to have fun doing it. She did get us side tracked just a bit but then she got us caught up by the end of the week,
sometimes we'd even been ahead of the other classes. She was awesome.
It seemed to be a typical Tuesday. We always read the scholastic news at 1:45 on Tuesdays. But that day was different. Yeah, everything that day was

So, the whole project was: Make a persuasive argument for Ms. Werner about getting a buddy bench for ourschool. Mrs. Johanson really wanted us to
succeed. So, she had us include what color it should be and where it should be placed on the playground. (I combined the paragraphs.) And mine
wasn't all that special. After all, I was just a 3rd grader that just learned about persuasive writing.
Pretty much, mine looked like this: (I made the numbered notes like a list instead of in a paragraph.) But for some reason, Mrs. Johanson and Ms.
Werner both thought mine was awesome. So, finally, when Ms. Werner decided she was for it, she told us that we had to convince the PTA. She

part. When I found out that I was writing the speech I was super excited at first. My partner was actually my best friend, Parker. We had a lot of fun
doing it and, it beat being outside in the winter time! It got to be hard once we got to the part where we had to match the people's personalities. But
when I got through all that I reflected and made a conclusion that it was good and I did well. I don't want to get too detailed but, we won the PTA

My Classroom Experience

  • 1. My Classroom Experience It was very sad to end my time at Adams. I had a really amazing time getting to know the kids and seeing what it was like in a classroom on a daily basis. The students were also sad to see it come to an end. They were use to having me come into their classroom and be another teacher for them. In the last two weeks the students started to do another reading assessment. To do this, they would sit down with the teacher and read out loud to her, pointing at each word as they read. This was to see if they were making the connection of the words that they were saying and the words that they were reading. The students have been taking home reading books over the last month and she was seeing if the students' reading was improving. She was also evaluating if students needed to continue at the same level that they are currently on, or if they were ready to move up to the next level. Over the last few weeks I have been preparing crafts, helping students, and organizing the classroom. The students are going to start getting reading books from the class library and keeping them for a period of time to read. The kids like to store lots of papers and other things in their reading bins, so I prepared them (cleaned them out) for them to start using next week. They have been doing a lot of activities relating to the upcoming holidays. What I have noticed from doing these activities with the students is that it is really important to teach them the meaning behind what these holidays really Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Effective Classroom Management Essay Classroom management is a key element to establish a successful learning environment in any classroom. An effective classroom management plan creates a positive learning environment. Classroom management is affected by the characteristics of the students and their behavior. Students' behavior is influenced by their age, academic abilities, goals, interests, and home backgrounds (Evertson, Emmer, and Worsham, 2006). Teachers need a diverse array of classroom management skills to facilitate learning. A classroom with a proper management plan will spend less time in disciplining and more time in learning. Students in effectively managed classrooms know and follow clearly defined rules and routines. A classroom management plan should provide...show more content... Frequent communication with families which includes positive information makes school wide discipline effective (T.L.Musy, Personal communication, October 3rd, 2006). Consistency is an important element in school wide discipline. Rules applied consistently through out the school are easy for students to learn. An effective teacher learns school rules and procedures before the year begins. This would be helpful for the teacher to set up her/his own classroom discipline plan (Evertson, Emmer, and Worsham, 2006). Teachers should have a discipline plan before the school year begins. Effective discipline plan includes various techniques to avoid, support, and correct inappropriate behavior in the classroom. Preventive discipline Preventing misbehavior is widely preferable rather than dealing with it after it has occurred. A Preventive discipline plan involves steps taken in a classroom to avoid disciplinary problems. Potentially this discipline deals with the distractions in the classroom and how a classroom environment can be modified so it is more compatible with the learning needs of its children (Edwards, 2004). Preventive discipline plan refers to the strategies that can be implemented to inhibit inappropriate behaviors from occurring in the first place (T.L.Musy, Personal communication, October 10th, 2006). Kounin's concepts of withitness and overlapping skills of a teacher help in preventing discipline problems (Evertson, Emmer, and Worsham, Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Essay about The Future Classroom When we look at our society today, there is no doubt that our education system is undergoing another revolution. Technology has advanced to the point where it has made information widely accessible, and its convenience has established new means of independent learning. Students are able to learn from a seamlessly infinite resource, and now schools face a competitor in the distribution of knowledge. Now as schools attempt to integrate technology into the school environment, there are challenges in defining the next generation of classrooms. Through our Alternate Worlds class, we have attempted to integrate technology into the class with both success and disappointment. However, though technology provides a great resource for education,...show more content... Like a future classroom our class embraces technology as a tool for education. Through websites, blogs, and streaming online media, our class takes all forms except the traditional lecture style. Another way in which this class is an example of a future classroom is in the way we communicate. Through forums, chat boxes and emails, our class communicates through instant mediums instead of face–to–face contact. One final way in which this class is a model for future classrooms is in the responsibility that students have for their own education. Students in our class make their own schedule to keep up in class and are bounded by a loose schedule. Students are given flexibility in where and when they want to work, which is different from traditional classrooms that meet on strict schedules. Though our online class exemplifies many characteristics of a future classroom, our class stays traditional in several ways. One similarity between our classroom and a traditional classroom is that students still hold the responsibility for submitting in work to be graded. Students still need to be assessed on whether or not they are keeping on task with readings, and so assignments and projects are still used like in traditional education settings. Our class is also similar to traditional classes in which there is a professor who takes part in ensuring that we stay actively on schedule Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. My Thoughts On The Classroom Honestly, when I walked into the classroom on the first day, I didn't know what to expect. I had signed up for the course just as a way to get credit for an IDS requirement, and did not think too much about this class at first. My thoughts were racing as the idea of a circled classroom seemed kind of strange to me. However, after that first day, I knew that I was going to enjoy the class. We talked about each other before we did anything else. We formally introduced ourselves and expressed our feelings and beliefs to one another, and showed every person in that room that we all have our differences, but, we can still share this experience together. This was different than any other class that I had previously taken, last semester, or in high school. There was so much to this class that I could use in everyday life than probably any other class previously taken. We were taught lessons that had helped change our lives for the better. We were also introduced to such inspirational characters, whether it be Julia Butterfly Hill,Henry David Thoreau, or even some people we never got the names. The videos that were shown to us were also very inspiring, and they definitely made me think of what we are doing as a nation, or better yet, as a species of animal living on this planet. There was so much that I have learned, that I cannot simply forget in a day's notice, unlike most other classes this semester. The knowledge that I have gathered is truly a gift, that I will be thankful for Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Diversity in the Classroom Essay Diversity in classrooms can open student's minds to all the world has to offer. At times diversity and understanding of culture, deviant experiences and perspectives can be difficult to fulfill, but with appropriate strategies and resources, it can lead students gaining a high level of respect for those unlike them, preferably than a judgmental and prejudiced view. Diversity has broad ranges of spectrums. Students from all across the continent; students from political refugees, indigenous Americans, and immigrants bring their culture and linguistic skills to American classrooms. Students do not only bring their cultures and linguistic skills, but they bring their ethnics, talents, and skills. In addition, their age and gender are two...show more content... Every student and teacher has a cultural identity. Their cultural identity is defined by their beliefs, values and behaviors. Their cultures can be different among others, which creates diversity. Classrooms full of students and teachers with different backgrounds can be beneficial for students and teachers themselves. By exploring and accepting many differences and cultures of people among them, they are taught to understand cultural differences, they from a strong sense of their own cultural identity. Once students and teachers are aware of cultural differences, they become aware of racism and can fight to eradiate it. Through their unbiased understanding of the differences between cultures and races, they are able to come to a point of acceptance of themselves and others. If you noticed in my previous paragraph, I mentioned the different types of diversity. Diversity emphasizes how different students and teachers are, but when explored in a classroom, can be used to reveal our similarities. Once students and teachers grasp the concept of diversity, displayed through everyday interactions with diverse groups of students and teachers, racism begins to disappear. In addition, positive sense of self can be developed once students and teachers have an understanding of their own uniqueness through experiences and understanding of diversity. • 6. My Classroom / Learning Style Teaching, both as a teacher and as a student, has changed drastically over the years. Even as a student for the past 16 years of my life, I have found that even my classroom / learning style has developed as I age. Not only has my learning style changed, but the way that teachers teach has evolved over time. On another personal note, within my student observation classroom, I spoke with my cooperating teacher about her varying teaching style and how she incorporates all types of learning across various subject areas. Ms. F mentioned that she has had to change the way she teaches a variety of times depending on the learning capabilities of her students. Much like the psychologists and theorists of the past, Ms. F has come to base her...show more content... When the behavioral way of teaching falters, teachers have found that the sociocultural and constructivist ways of teaching can help pick up the slack. "These theories inform many teachers who believe it is their job to help ALL students develop the intelligence, understanding, and problem solving skills necessary to fil important roles in a diverse and democratic society" (Oakes, 163). Since the 1960s, researchers have come to find that learning is actually an active experience. This means that in order to learn, students must interact with others in order to make sense and comprehend the material. They can take their experiences from the outside world and use them to their advantage, by relating them to things they learn in the classroom. Theorists Piaget and Vygotsky prided themselves in their understanding of how childhood learning in is in direct correlation with how children develop cognitively. This was revolutionary Sociocultural and constructivist theories place inclusive principles at the center of their learning. These theories also encourage a broader view of culture and suggest that teachers have a powerful role in providing all their students with opportunities (Oakes, 167). Encouraging a broader view comes with advantages and disadvantages. Firstly, there are numerous ways that an educator can incorporate a sociocultural environment into the classroom. For example, treating differences as assets, setting high Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. Becoming a teacher can be an exciting and challenging experience for anyone. It can be quite difficult to put four years of knowledge into their teaching and into a classroom environment. And while it may seem challenging at first it does become easier over time. A teacher is not only someone who teaches, but they are a symbol of learning. A teacher is a person who plays the most important role in the development of any student. The future of those students depends on the qualities and the dedication of that teacher. It is the teacher who creates an interest in students to develop and to progress. It is the teacher who helps the students achieve whatever aims they set for themselves. Teachers have a lot to do with motivating...show more content... The curriculum then becomes more relevant, therefore the motivation for the students to accomplish the tasks increases. The subject matter not only has to be relevant but it also has to be stimulating to the students' curiosity. If a student is bored with the content, they are not going to want to learn it. This could be things such as stickers or stamps on their homework and tests. Or it could be receiving verbal or written praise. It could be just the thing that motivates certain students. But not all students need to be extrinsically motivated. Teachers need to find out which type of motivation works best for which student to help them succeed. Classroom teaching is more likely to be effective when it is informed by an understanding of how students learn. Constructivism is the current approach to learning in Australian schools today. Constructivism is how each student goes about constructing his or her own knowledge. This type of Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. My Vision For My Future Classroom My Vision My vision for my future classroom is to create an atmosphere where each individual feels accepted and valued. It is my goal to discover ways to make learning innovative, enjoyable, creative, and rewarding. I will strive to discover my strengths, then use them to empower my students. Hopefully this leads to positive outcomes within each student and transforms the way my classroom operates. I would love to teach elementary level students, preferably grades 1–3, because that is my passion. In this type of classroom, I would teach the basics of every subject for that grade. I believe that I would excel with the variety that this role has to offer. I am open to teaching anywhere and in any type of school, due to the fact myeducation was both in public and parochial schools. If possible, I will use technology to enhance my teaching. I would love to incorporate technology into my classroom because it makes learning more efficient, increases student creativity, and creates endless learning possibilities by giving every student a customizable learning experience. Basic Information Splash Math is an app that helps kids review, improve, and refine their personal math skills. The basic app month trail is free, but if parents and teachers wish to use the app longer they must pay a monthly or annual rate. Also a teacher or parent account must be created before the child is allowed to play the app. However, this can be beneficial because adults may create individual profiles Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. I was excited to start my school but didn't know that I was actually going to face a problem because of my Asian Heritage. I went inside the classroom and sat down quietly in a corner. I saw students entering in the classroom and every time a student pass by they were making a weird face. I felt uncomfortable suddenly a student behind me tapped on my shoulder and asked me "Hey man you also drive a taxi?" I gently replied "No". "You look like one of them" and everyone starts to laugh. At that moment, I knew something was wrong but wasn't sure what was it. Every day I entered the classroom they were addressing me in different names someday a "taxi driver" someday a "Dunkin Donuts employee". I told my cousin what was going on in my classroom he told me "don't let them bully you it's a stereotype here". I decided not to worry about what they were addressing me I will go to school and continue my study in order to finish my TASC and move forward. At the end of the month, I was surprised to be the only one from my class who was selected by the teachers to go forward and took the TASC exam. Despite being bullied in the classroom I successfully passed the exam with a 100% attendance. Everything seems to get better and I was preparing myself for college I saw a Billboard about "US Army National Guard" and on the bottom of the billboard was stating that "You are Needed". • 10. Classroom Culture In The Classroom Classroom Culture. In order to create a positive classroom culture, teacher need to promote positive relationships between students and with students by taking an interest and have respect for each other. It is extremely important for teacher to get to know the students, their families, and their culture. When a student knows their teacher cares about them, then a relationship of trust will exist between a student and teacher. According to Sayeski and Brown (2011), "teachers who had positive relationships with their student had 31 % fewer discipline problems and rule violations over the course of the year than teachers who did not" (p. 12). In order to know more about them, I will send home a poster board where the students can fill it with any information they would like me and their classmates to know. This constructivist approach gives them the opportunity to be creative and choose what they want to share. The essentialist approach of sending home a questionnaire for the family to fill out will help collect information important to understanding the student. This is the only category where I consider myself an essentialist and constructivist due to how information will be gathered about my students, but this will allow me to build the framework for a positive learning environment for everyone. Having students create a poster will allow their peers to get to know them as an individual. Another way to create a positive environment is having students work together to keep Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. My Classroom Experience As I walked into an American classroom for the first time I was amazed. There were bright posters everywhere. A snack station, napping area, and play station. Right in the middle, there was a huge round rug with words that were foreign to me. It looked more like a huge play area rather than a classroom. I was nervous yet excited. When I entered my classroom, my dad said: "Sub Kuch say, Hoga," (everything will be fine) in Urdu. I didn't have a wide variety of vocabulary in Urdu either, but those four words made me feel safe. As my dad was about to leave me, I began to get a jittery feeling. Class finally started. "A is for Apple, B is for Boy." As a 4 –year–old with no concept of English those words were foreign to me. Not understanding what my teacher or anyone around me was saying frightened me. After being confused and having no idea of what was going on this lady walked into the room with a smile that brightened my day. She started to speak to me in Urdu, and I didn't feel scared anymore. I had someone who would understand me, and I could understand her. Her name was Ms. Usmani. She took me to a different classroom. It didn't look as fun as the other classroom. As I walked in there were a few other students, they looked as nervous as me, and truthfully that made me happy. Knowing that there were students who felt the same way I did comforted me. I remember Ms. Usmani saying how I would spend most of my time in this classroom. I didn't know what to feel about that. I was Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 12. Examples Of Classroom Observation Classroom Observation: –Connect Administrator–conducted observation to my reflections of practice –Focus on progress made in key areas of strength and needed focus I started this year with a new assignment as a Basic Skills teacher for ELA in grades 1–5. Changing students every 40 minutes and only seeing students twice a week was quite a challenge for me. As a proponent of differentiated instruction and the Daily 5, I was used to rotating through my students as needed for a variety of skills because they were available to me all day long. My lessons had to be shorter and couldn't carry over more than one additional session because students would forget. Having experience with grades 4 & 5, I found this transition much easier perhaps because I was already familiar with the curriculum and pacing for that age group. Grade 3 required only minor adjustments in my lessons, where I would have to slow down the pace and choose major targets. However, first and second grade presented more of a struggle for me in timing and content. As a result I decided to focus on grades 1 and 2 for my SGOs. My grade 1 SGO focused on A–Z Reading levels, whereas, the SGO for grade 2 focused on a reading passage that was revised into a PARCC–like assessment. The initial pre–test was scary! Only teaching these students twice a week, I thought I was in over my head. I knew that I could have a greater impact on their success if I had more time with them; but reality dictated otherwise. The issue of time has been a frustration of mine all year! Each week I would prepare lessons that included phonics/ spelling, and a reading skill connected to writing. This was difficult because the students are from different classes and the teachers may be teaching different skills. As a result, I began looking more deeply at their standards using the NJ Model Curriculum and decided to focus on the major reading and writing skills which were those that spiraled up such as theme, compare and contrast, and character traits and motivations. All of these skills could easily be connected to PARCC–like writing. So now I had a plan. It was time to implement. I started with short stories to teach Close Reading and annotations. This was working out well. Students Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 13. My Favorite Class Essay My favorite classes this year were Mrs. Menzel's two english classes. I have learned so much about myself as a reader, student, and an intellectual. Through both of her classes, we were given endless amounts of opportunity. What I mean by this is, we got to choose our own topics to study, books to read, and subjects to write about. We were truly treated like adults, which in my eyes, helped prepare us for the "real world". Her willingness to let us grow as individuals was very inspiring, because she believed that we could do it on our own, with a little push whenever we needed it. I have gotten the chance to discover that I actually enjoy reading! Specifically, I discovered that Jodi Picoult might be my favorite author as of now. Also, I realized that writing is one of my favorite things to do, it is a passion of mine and I hope I can continue it somehow with the career that I choose. Personally, her two classes have helped me grow as a speaker, writer, and reader. In her CCC class, I was able to write a profile on my dad, which really strengthened my relationship with him. After printing him a copy, and seeing tears in his eyes made me very grateful for this experience to share with him how much of a role model he is to me. In her English Lit class, I was able to ask my grandma and mom what books they would recommend for me. Having these conversations with them made their hearts warm, since I was showing interest in books for once (they are both book lovers). Her class pushed me to be the best that I can, and it wasn't for the grade that I got. It was for learning about myself, and what I was capable of. That's when I learned that her classes are actually changing me as a student. For an example, when I was working on a project, I wasn't basing every single sentence on what the rubric told me to do. I was branching out and working on it because I truly wanted to learn more about the topic and put my all into it. Thankfully, I have matured a great amount as a student because of Mrs. Menzel and her life lessons through teaching, and by just being herself. I truly feel ready for college now because of Mrs. Menzel, and I am grateful for that. This year, I changed my intended major from Business to Education, Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 14. Classroom Behavior Essay Would you be surprised to learn that in today's classroom children sometimes aren't learning due to behavioral issues? Teachers are attempting to teach classes in which students can be disruptive, disrespectful and defiant. Classrooms are often overcrowded which adds to the frustration of the situation. Teachers are often tempted to take the easy way out, using antiquated strategies that will usually not help the child to learn. In fact, some types of punishments can actually cause the child to become even more rebellious. The child can experience a sense of worthlessness after being punished again and again. Children do not act out because they are "bad." They act out in the hopes of receiving some kind of response or reward. In the...show more content... In other words if teachers figure out what the child is getting from exhibiting a particular behavior, they can then give that child the exact opposite of the expected response. If our response is consistent the child will eventually give up the behavior in lieu of another which yields more satisfying results. The reward system is sometimes turned around to reinforce poor behavior. Often, children who are misbehaving are looking for some sort of a reaction. It is possible that they believe that it is better to not even try than to try and fail. It could also be true that the only type of attention they receive comes from the instances in which they misbehave. Although as adults it may seem logical that one would avoid being singled out or chastised, children who have little sense of self worth will "take what they can get." Skinner calls his strategy for dealing with disruption "non–reinforcement." Skinner's theory claims that "non–reinforcement leads to extinction of behavior." By ignoring disruptive behavior, a teacher can extinguish it. Eventually, the disruptive student will realize that their behavior will not gain any response will seek another way to belong to the group. There are many Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 15. My Teaching Philosophy Essay My Teaching Philosophy I believe that education extends far beyond the classroom walls, and involves many more people than students and teachers. People should be learning wherever they go, and should continue learning long after they've graduated from high school or college. Education isn't something that can be quantified with tests or report cards, but is instead something that people carry with them. It's a survival pack for life, and some people are better equipped in certain areas than in others. People with a solid education are prepared for nearly anything, as they will be able to provide for their own physical, emotional, and aesthetic needs. That being said, I also believe that a crucial part of education does...show more content... The roles of a teacher are so many and so varied that it is impossible to list them all, but one of the most important is preparing students to learn, not only in the classroom, but everywhere, and for the rest of their lives. Learning is not a skill that is necessarily instinctual or easy, and therefore different approaches must be used to make learning easier and more fun for students. Teaching is not a skill that can be memorized or made repetitive, and so teachers must continue to challenge not only their students, but also themselves. Teachers that become complacent in their jobs are not good teachers. Those who can find a way to make an old lesson new and exciting will have an energized classroom, and will be reenergized themselves. Every child is different. That sounds like an obvious statement, but so many ineffective teachers seem to forget this. Each student has his or her own varying abilities, talents, and levels of competence, and it is the job of a teacher not only to recognize this, but to help each student recognize this as well. If a child isn't doing well in a particular subject, both the teacher and the student should work towards figuring out why, and the teacher should accept the challenge of finding a way to make a particular subject more Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 16. My Career as a Teacher Essay As I begin my rewarding career as I teacher, I sit and reflect on what my goals and priorities are in the classroom. I am excited to be engaged in a future career where I can implement my own beliefs and mold the future into something extremely positive. I believe the most important aspects that I want to bring to my students are threefold: I want to educate, motivate, and inspire. In order to have a productive learning environment where I will be able to educate my students, many different factors must take place. First and foremost, it is important to me that I master exceptional classroom management skills. Effective and efficient learning takes place when expectations in the classroom are consistent and clear. Also, discipline in...show more content... These learning styles include; auditory, visual, and kinesthetic. By mastering and using as many learning styles as I can, I will make sure each student is able to get the most out of their learning experience. I understand that every child learns differently and understanding how to use different approaches in each lesson plan will benefit every student. Not only is it important to use different learning styles but I will also use different teaching styles during the curriculum. The different methods I would like to use to teach my lessons include but are not limited to; scientific investigation which uses the scientific method. The scientific method includes first investigating the problem, coming up with a logical hypothesis, performing the experiment, reading the results, and finally completing an analysis of the results. The next method I would explore is decision making which is the thought process of selecting a logical choice from the available options. Next is problem solving. When I teach the students to problem solve accurately they be able to overcome obstacles and find a solution that best resolves the issue. Next, I will help my students think critically which includes identification and evaluation to problem solving. Finally, I will use the method of cooperative learning which is an approach to organizing classroom activities into academic and social learning experience. I believe that every one of these method can be valued Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 17. My Classroom Assessments As I reflect back over this semester I am amazed at the breadth and depth we have covered in short amount of time, and the amount of material I have learned while working full time, coaching, driving back and home from work each week, which is several hours away, and taking care of my son, who had brain surgery this last year, and my mother in–law who fell on December 20, fracturing her foot in 10 places, and then my surgery on February 5. I realize the only the material is relevant to this reflection paper, however all have had an impact on my learning, and are reasons why I took the fall semester off. I truly enjoy learning, challenging myself, setting an example for my two sons and sometimes accepting a lower grade to help family members. Popham's book, Classroom Assessment, was our required reading, and while the title didn't sound exciting, it was much...show more content... Bias was another topic, as it rendered assessment invalid. Validity and reliability were difficult topics as I encountered personal challenges. Bias is a topic that requires careful analysis of our assessments. As we were looking at the different types of assessment, we were also given opportunities to practice each of the assessment types. While I thoroughly enjoy writing objectives and performance–based assessments, I found the multiple–choice questions and the essay questions to be the most difficult. I have to admit that before we learned that all of the above should never be used in a multiple–choice question, I had used it, and several time too. So I immediately went back to all of my multiple–choice questions and when ever I found "all of the above" I changed the question. I have been writing performance–based assessments for several years, and while they were difficult at first, I have come to like them more than any other type of Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 18. My Classroom Reflection The entire chapter of best practices has no shortage of information and ideas for up and coming teachers and gives ideas of how to achieve certain goals in a classroom. I almost wish I could just list all of the concepts that I want to use in my own classroom for when I start my first year of teaching. But I get to pick three I want to talk about in greater detail and two concepts which I really want to use in my own classroom. Some of the concepts that were talked about that I would still like to keep in mind, even if I don't find them to be in my top three are; the layers of classroom management, setting up different workgroups, leaving comments on student's papers, and different practices to make writing meaningful. This being said I want to keep these in the back of my mind so they are prepared as I get closer to becoming a teacher. The three main concepts for me are; having a daily routine, noise and structured chaos, and having pen–pals. No matter what age of a child it is important they understand the value of having a daily routine put into places, not only for the students but for the teacher as well. The book identifies ways to make sure a daily routine is up to par in making one an effective teacher. Some example of this, that I would also like to see in my own classroom, are having the next week's lessons plans ready to go, making sure the first day is about the students getting to know you a little better and knowing their classmates as well, and spending a Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 19. Personal Narrative: The Classroom My substitute teacher, Mrs. Johanson, was awesome. We were My class was lucky that our real teacher, Mrs. Vanderlip, was having a baby. If she didn't we wouldn't have helped our school. Anyway, Mrs. Johanson was cool. She challenged us to the point that we chose the challenge over the easy. She pushed us to be our best and to have fun doing it. She did get us side tracked just a bit but then she got us caught up by the end of the week, sometimes we'd even been ahead of the other classes. She was awesome. It seemed to be a typical Tuesday. We always read the scholastic news at 1:45 on Tuesdays. But that day was different. Yeah, everything that day was just like every other day but it still was different. We read about a boy in elementary...show more content... "Yeah, if we persuade the PTA and Ms. Werner(our principal)," said another. "Maybe we could make a writing project out of it," Mrs. Johanson exclaimed. So, the whole project was: Make a persuasive argument for Ms. Werner about getting a buddy bench for ourschool. Mrs. Johanson really wanted us to succeed. So, she had us include what color it should be and where it should be placed on the playground. (I combined the paragraphs.) And mine wasn't all that special. She nominated 3 speakers to go in front and 2 writers for writing the speech. I being one of the top writers in my class was nominated for the writing part. When I found out that I was writing the speech I was super excited at first. My partner was actually my best friend, Parker. We had a lot of fun doing it and, it beat being outside in the winter time! It got to be hard once we got to the part where we had to match the people's personalities. But when I got through all that I reflected and made a conclusion that it was good and I did well. I don't want to get too detailed but, we won the PTA Get more content on HelpWriting.net
