                     Internet job search

Using the Internet, search again for jobs from all three of the following areas. Do a tally
for the number of roles that you can find for each of the groups.

                                                                                        Number of roles found

Print media (magazines and newspapers) 200

Theatre and dance 56

Graphic and web design 76

Fashion and clothing design 49

 Which group had the most roles available?
Print Media has the most jobs available.

 In a small group, discuss why you think this might be. Consider the nature of the area
you live in, recent developments in technology, the demand for certain products and
the kind of work that is done.

 Write up your findings below, ready to discuss them with your teacher.

Print Media is the section that has the most job roles available. I think this is because this is a huge
sector in which needs lots of different people’s input in order to create a successful
magazine/newspaper. Also before a newspaper or magazine is distributed, it needs to go through
many processes like editing, reviewing the article to see if its good enough to go into it etc.
Newspapers and magazines are read by many and are a kind of demand for the public. Therefore
they need to be distributed often and quickly. So the more hands there are to help, the quicker it
will get done. Not only that but there are many different newspapers and magazines. Ones that
report news, current affairs and even gossip! So we can see it’s a wide sector that has lots of
different departments which contribute to the creation of it.
