1. Location
When considering the locations for our thriller, we were keen to combine external locations
with that of locations which could represent the isolation of a break up. Our locations were
integral to depicting the symbolism we sought to create in regards to the narrative we were
presenting.
With the external locations, there was a spaciousness which allowed us to create feelings of
freedom and also isolation when the break up was in motion. Internally, we wanted to film
in a tight space to represent his emotional struggle and to show his mental torment
surrounding the situation in which he is in.
Sheringham Park
This was an excellent location which will aid the aesthetic and
support the symbolism we are seeking to create. It a luscious
nature park with a lot of life, and this will help us depict the
concept of a relationship with is fully in bloom and which is
blossoming.
The symbolism we were keen to create is one of a relationship
which is full of promise and growth. Furthermore, the potential
for shooting a music video surrounded by nature, gives us an
excellent opportunity to capture a wide array of shots which will
add variation and differentiation into our music video.
However, this is a public space and that could interfere our filming as people could enter
the frame and our video could lack rhythm or consistency if we have to disregard shots due
to unwanted extras. Furthermore, attending the location in autumn/winter could mean
cloud which ruins the view and filming in poor weather.
This must be planned thoroughly in order for Sheringham Park to be a viable option for
filming.
Sheringham Beach
To further extend this idea of beauty and aesthetic surrounding our
music video, we wanted to use external shots to portray this
relationship as one which was naturally beautiful and one which can
provide us with provide us with an abundance of shots we can
integrate to improve our music video.
The beach symbolizes how quickly relationships can turn (like the
tides). Furthermore, it helps us depict this idea of a relationship as couples often attend
beaches on a day out together. It is a romantic and naturalistic setting.
There are potential problems however. Logistically, we will need to research when the
tides are in and out in order to maximize our filming time. Also, the location poses a
multitude of potential risks which include damage of the equipment due to a lack of solid
surfaces to rest the camera upon, which could mean a decrease in the quality of our shots.
To conclude, these locations grant us with two key elements we wish to incorporate into
our video, both aesthetic and symbolism. These elements could significantly enhance the
quality of our music video.
