Colin Hirst, MD joined Tufts Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts as an interventional cardiology fellow in 2018. In addition to his role with the medical center, Colin Hirst, MD spends time as a member of professional societies such as the American College of Cardiology (ACC) The American College of Cardiology has established several educational services and initiatives for members, including the Collaborative Maintenance Pathway (CMP), a streamlined pathway to maintaining licensure and certification. The program has been developed to help medical professionals maintain and improve their academic knowledge yearly while maintaining a busy practice. Individuals enrolled in the program gain access to publications and presentations created by leading experts, as well as countless self-assessment questions to help prepare for exams. The unique design of the CMP program involves breaking down the field of cardiology into five distinct sections, allowing medical professionals to focus on one area while completely re-establishing their knowledge every five years. This is achieved primarily through seven hours of academic engagement and a performance assessment each year, the latter of which satisfies maintenance of certification (MOC) requirements. This can be particularly helpful for professionals who do not have the time to step away from their practice to travel to a board review.
