How many people here manage people and wished they would just do their job without you having to get involved so often?
How many are managed by someone and you wish sometimes they would give you some autonomy and let you get on with the job you're good at.
Well that's a paradox! OK final question.
How many people here are sat next to their boss and wanted put their hand up to the last question but didn't?
The bottom line is business leaders and entrepreneurs we are overworked.
You've spent the last few years of your life building a great business.
Building something amazing. You've sacrificed. Lots. You've poured your heart and soul into something you are proud of
--
Which is an achievement in itself.
Most people never get this far. Most people never get past the idea.
The trouble is the more you grow, the more there is to do. The better you do, the busier you get.
--
Too busy to take a holiday
Too busy keeping everyone happy. Too busy to slow down and take a breath.
Too busy spinning plates. Too busy fire-fighting.
There is way too much stuff that needs your expertise, needs your involvement, needs YOU to make a decision.
--
But, What if we could make it easier? What if every one of your employees went to work excited and energised by what they do. Bringing their 'A' game, solving problems, hitting deadlines, going the extra mile.
--
What if things just happened without needing your attention? What if people just got on and did the job the way you would do it? Even when you're not there. How would that change your organisation? How would that change your role and your time?
--
Well you won't be surprised to hear there is way to make this kind of change. By defining and creating a strong authentic, consistent culture you allow this to happen. By being purposeful and clear about your desired behaviours and attitudes you can create a place where people thrive and build a high performing team.
What I want to do this morning is help you start the process of making that happen.
He pulled down all his signs and locked his front door and took his name out of the phone book,
He "Fired" more than half his customers the one's who caused him hassle.
He sawed up his reception desk and installed a Cappuccino Machine instead!
He introduced a courtesy system into his business, defining what's important and how people should behave, radically changing his culture.
Now bakes fresh dental buns for clients, and serves 30+ varieties of tea and coffee in fine bone china.
Only accepts new clients by referral from a current client
He works 23hrs/wk & earns 2.5 times the income,

Building an authentic, consistent culture in your organisation can have a similar impact.
You could take TIME OFF knowing that your business will be fine and THRIVE even in your absence
You could increase your REVENUE without having to increase the amount of work and effort you put in
You could continue to GROW your business without the stress of additional work and pressure you've had previously
You could reduce your staff turnover and reduce your costs
Firstly we introduced unlimited holiday.
Secondly we made the working day more flexible (essentially allowing people to work when they like).
Culture is derived from the Latin word cultura which means to care for and grow. A culture is simply an environment where things grow. Good things can grow. Weeds can grow. What grows depends on the specific culture, but something will grow.
Three Things
In dozen's of experiments across several different cultures, the children on average built towers that were 26 inches tall (15-20% higher than the next best group which happened to be CEOs, the kids towers were 150% higher than the business students at an averages of 10 inches, and 65% higher than the lawyers managed at an averaged of 15 inches.

Authentic Consistent Culture:
Be explicit about your One Purpose - Create something amazing for your people to be proud of.
Gather your One Team - Find passionate people to journey with.
Speak in One Voice - Talk a good story.
Set yourself One Focus - Act the part.
All four
Takes Months / Years

One Voice part of the framework is used to ensure that what’s being said through marketing, in meetings, over the PR wires, via email etc, again reinforces the purpose.
Through this process businesses start to become authentic and trustworthy. They do what they say and are who they say.

Essentially this looks at everything else in the organisation: Metrics & Rewards; Policies and procedures; Environment etc, to ensure they all reinforce your mission, values and vision.
