1. Welcome to CORRAL
Thank you. Thank you for every-
thing you have done to transform
the lives of 50 young women since
2009. Over the next 5 years, we will
provide a safe haven for 150 more
young ladies to make the same
transformational life change. Your
partnership has made this whole
thing possible. Together we have
done something that is so rare in our
communities these days-- we have
changed the trajectory of someone’s
life… a young woman who was likely
to repeat the same patterns of abuse
with her children that were done to
her. She was on track to drop out of
high-school, get pregnant, and go
from boyfriend to boyfriend through
her children’s lives; or worse, she was
on track to take her own life. Your
partnership changed all that. Now,
she is preparing for the SAT, plan-
ning her honors course load, and
completing financial aid forms to
go to college. Her daughter and her
daughter’s daughter will not only be
fine-- they will thrive.
I wanted to formally invite you to
partner with me to serve this cause
in whatever capacity you feel led
to moving forward. For some this
may mean serving weekly, monthly,
annually or on an ad hoc basis. For
others, this might me giving every
month, year, or five years and still
for others, this might mean serving
the cause outside of CORRAL in your
own neighborhood or even your own
home. Regardless of what you are
called to, please know that we don’t
think of you as a donor or simply a
human ATM that allows us to do the
work of this cause, but instead we
recognize that by making a dona-
tion you are extending your heart
toward the girls who are currently at
our farm and the girls who will and
should be at our farm.
Going forward we will invite you to
participate in several ways on a pe-
riodic basis. You may receive emails
or letters with opportunities to serve
or give again. As you receive these
please consider if these opportunities
are tugging on your heart. We have
opportunities to serve in a regular
and intense manner like teaching rid-
ing lessons, mentoring, or tutoring.
We also have opportunities to serve
on a quarterly, annual, or ad hoc
basis like farm days. We also have op-
portunities to serve on the business
side of CORRAL to help spread the
word. What I’d ask of you is to read
these invitations as simply that—an
invitation. There is no pressure or
desperation from us- we recognize
that everyone’s life and priorities are
different. We simply want to give you
the opportunity to express your heart
towards this cause in an ever increas-
ing, deeper manner as you get to
know us better.
Thank you for walking along side
of me as we watch every one of our
girls blossom and fulfill their pur-
pose despite the circumstance they
face. We look forward to serving the
cause with you. v

2. Changing Lives
Nora came to CORRAL in
sixth grade and says that the
program changed her life. When
she joined, she was dealing
with the loss of her mom, ad-
justing to life with a new family,
and trying to manage school.
“In fifth grade my brother and
I moved in with a new family
who offered to take care of us
while our mom worked through
health issues. One day we came
home after school and our whole family was sitting in the
living room. They told me and my brother that our mom
had taken her own life.”
With maturity and strength that’s rare for her age, she
can now reflect on that time and see the blessings that
came out of it. “Losing her was a hard experience, but
there are things that opened up that I am thankful for.
I’ve gotten to have an amazing family- a mom, and a dad,
and an extra little brother, and it’s been one blessing after
another.”
She said CORRAL is one of those blessings. “CORRAL
became my second home. They helped me control my
emotions. They’re pushing us to make good choices and
to graduate. When you walk in the door you see all these
bright smiles and everyone welcomes you and you know
they are here to help you with anything you need. It’s
work but it’s so much fun.”
Nora comes to CORRAL twice a week and has become
a leader to new girls in the program. She said the way the
horses can mimic you, and be like your twin, can help you
realize what you’re feeling, and spending time with the
other girls can do the same.“My favorite part is making
best friends that I know I’ll have for the rest of my life,
working with the horses, and getting to know the people
here. We’ve all been there through thick and thin togeth-
er.”
Nora has two years left in the program and already
knows she wants to come back as a volunteer after she
graduates. She hopes to study law and justice in college.
“I really want to share my story and my testimony and
help people out that need help. It’s empowering for me
to say where I’ve been and where I am now and I want to
show people that there is a better way and always anoth-
er option. I want to brighten someone’s day ...and be able
to help them like Ms. Joy helps us.”
“My mom now always tells me that God always had a
plan and His plan was to bring us together and it’s been
amazing having people behind me every step of the
way.”v
