2. In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products? Our media product challenges the normal conventions of the gangster genre by using fast cutting speeds and narrative, which helps the audience to focus on the plot and subplots that surround it. It uses a lot of different angles to allow the user to engage both what they are seeing and hearing. It is almost as if the narrator is sat with them watching it. Another main aspect of our title sequence is the way that the actual scene is broken up by the narrative, and the titles, this allows the audience to engage and realise how the genre is being challenged.
3. Cutting between the two Here we can see the different cuts are used, and develop throughout the sequence; The different cuts here help the user know the main characters. Combined with the narrative this results in an easy way to engage the audience in the story and plot of the title sequence before fully viewing it. The idea to do these sharp cuts was from a wide variety of films, but we especially used it as its similar to the small title sequence in snatch.
4. Cutting Speeds The different cutting speeds used in our media product develop a relationship between the two characters. The speed develops throughout it which is good as it builds up the tension to a fairly boring scene. Here is where the cuts start to speed up
5. Narrative Our narrative is used well to further the alternate conventions of our media product. A film this is used in really well is rock n rolla. Here is Johnny quid’s monologue The difference between this narrative and ours is that this one isn’t about what is going on, it’s a completely different scene. Our narrative challenges this convention and helps the audience build a better idea of the story that will take place..
6. Narrative Continued Another film that has a narrative alike ours is snatch. Turkish’s monologue. This is done just like ours, and shows how well it can better the understanding of the characters used.
7. The way the scene is broken up The way that our scenes are broken up by the titles and narrative helps to challenge the ideologies and conventionality of the genre. We challenged the standard text over video format and allowed the scene to literally stop, so that the audience processes the narrative and video that they have just seen. I think this does well to clarify the plot and storylines involved.
