2. Working With Positive and Negative
Integers.
(Rule one) when adding integers with like
signs, just add the numbers and take that
sign. (+7)+(+6)=(+13).
(Rule two)when adding integers with signs
that are not alike, subtract the smaller
number from the larger one then apply the
sign from the larger number to your answer.
(+14)+(-8)=(+6).
3. (Rule Three) When subtracting integers
sprinkle Magic Dust on the subtraction
sign and the sign of the next number. This
will change the Subtraction sign to
addition and the sign of the next number
to it’s opposite sign. Then use Rule One
or Two which ever applies.
Rule 1
(+23)-(-17)=? (+23)+(+17)=+40
Rule 2
(+23)-(+17)=? (+23)+(-17)=+6
4. Working With Decimals
When working addition, division and
subtraction problems that contain decimals
always keep the decimals in vertical
alignment.
12.353 37.24 2.01
+31.44 - 31.17 21 42.21
43.793 6.07 -42

-21
5. When multiplying numbers with
decimals work the problem then count
how many numbers you have to the right
of the decimals in your problem. Then
counting from the right of your answer
insert your decimal in the proper place.
