2. An article published in the New York
Times told the story of a U.S. Marine
who paid tribute to his wife back
home with the kids.
He said that during his two tours in
Afghanistan he still considered his
wife’s job as a mother while she
worried about his safety to be the
more difficult one. Their first baby
was born two days before he deployed
and the second came while he was
abroad. This story gives readers a
glimpse into the lives and sacrifices
made by military members and their
families.
3. The Working Families Flexibility Act
was recently introduced to congress.
This act will allow workers to trade
overtime for time off, which they can
spend with their families.
While the time off is not a
requirement it would be an
additional option offered by
employers. There are certain
conflicts with this new act but it has
the potential to help both mothers
and fathers who want to spend time
with their children.
4. A homeless man was involved
in a hit-and-run and was badly
hurt. Money was donated by
churches, well wishers, a
Georgia state representative
and a community fish fry,
which was used to buy him a
plane ticket to Georgia where
he was able to spend Mother’s
Day with this 87-year-old mom.
Les Rowe is 63 and the event
has helped him see humanity
in a new light as he embarks on
the next chapter of his life.
5. There are many ways to say “I
Love You” and giving
someone flowers is a great
way to send your love in a
beautiful package.
Show your mom how much
you love her this Mother’s
Day with a stunning flower
bouquet.
