To Whom It May Concern:
It is my great pleasure to endorse Chris Jackson for a position in teaching. When Chris Jackson
shared with me his desire to teach at the college level I was honored to write up a letter of
recommendation because he is a true teacher at heart. Chris Jackson has been working with kids
throughout the Oswego area as long as I have known him (5 years). Chris was my daughter’s soccer
and basketball coach. He instructed and demonstrated the skills needed to play the game and be
fundamentally sound. His presentation of the concepts was done in creative ways with fun injected
into it. He has a way of taking the mundane and inserting his sunshine into it. That is one way I
see Chris: a ray of light, shining the way for kids to see themselves at their full potential. There
was a time when my daughter didn’t want to play basketball anymore but Chris reached out to
Stella, encouraging her to keep playing. He could see the potential that she had. Her reply was, “I
will play for Coach Jackson, just him, Mom.” This is one of Chris’ greatest gifting, seeing the
“hidden talents and gifts” inside people and helping them to develop it.
I have observed Chris working with children of various age groups. He knows how to get down
on their level of understanding to unlock concepts and to help bridge the gap in a way that makes
sense to them. He comes up with creative ways to keep their interest, injecting fun into work. This
is key to learning! If something does not have a little bit of “fun” then it is not sustainable. As
parents, we want our kids to have a strong performance yet enjoy the journey we call life. Chris
exudes positivity as he manages his teams and embraces life.
Chris is a dedicated leader who gives freely. He has volunteered for free to work with our kids
because he just loves teaching. It is his passion, and it flows right out of him. His positive attitude
creates an atmosphere of safety where kids can take risks, knowing he is there to encourage them to
try and reach their full potential. He is the kind of leader one hopes your child will get to
experience while growing up. He leads by example in character, attitude, kindness and it is genuine!
After our last basketball season Chris recommended his team for the Character Counts Award
through the City of Oswego. The children were all invited to attend the board meeting to receive
an award and get their picture in the newspaper. My child was thrilled and excited. It is those types
of things that he does over and beyond the call of duty, developing kids into being well-rounded
and thinking outside the box. He looks toward the future, recognizing that the children he is
influencing will one day be the next group of leaders. His leadership and positive attitude will be his
legacy for his future students.
It is without reservation that I recommend Chris Jackson to your attention.
Sincerely,
Kris Hunter
