2. WELCOME
03
Once again, we find great encouragement from significant positive signs
within the UK economy and - whilst it will be a difficult period negotiating
and implementing Brexit alongside any resultant border implications
and trade deals - the UK outlook does seem positive and despite many
conflicting indications the Finlay group maintains a confident outlook
when assessing the short to medium term.
In this issue of The Conveyor we are pleased to announce our appointment
as a licensed hire specialist for England and Wales for the new Kiverco
Compact Range of products. With a world leading range of trommels,
feeders and screens this partnership strengthens our product portfolio
even further You can read more about this fantastic addition to our range
on pages 4-5.
It’s been a busy year already for shows and events and we were pleased
to welcome many of our customers to the JCB Waste Days in May and
the Terex Finlay Open Day event in Edinburgh in June. If you managed to
attend one of these events then I would personally like to thank you for your
support and taking the time out of your schedule to attend. We get a lot of
useful feedback at these events and if you do have any further comments
then the team here would love to hear them. Please enjoy this third issue
of our magazine and, as ever, if you are a customer and would like to be
featured then, as ever, please get in touch. Wishing you all a wonderful,
sunny summer whatever you are doing.

WHAT’S NEWTHE KIVERCO COMPACT WASTE
PROCESSING RANGE
WHAT’SNEW
We’re delighted to announce the
purchase of a number of new units
from the Kiverco range which will
be available through Finlay Hire
in England and Wales. Designed
for the small to medium size waste
processing operator or mobile
contractor the new range includes
a feeder trommel, a picking station
and density separator. Offering
an alternative to traditional ways
of processing waste, modular
components can be selected
- along with a range of options
and configurations - to provide a
bespoke solution for your site and
the best bit is that it can be up and
working in hours.
Offering all the benefits of a high
performance static site, the plant
can be combined to form a complete
recycling system producing up to
150m³ per hour. It is all the more
impressive because of the added
advantage of mobility. For mobile
construction or sites operating on
temporary licenses it is simple to
relocate the compact plant range.
Easy to transport it particularly ideal
for sites where space may be at a
premium or where there is limited
infrastructure and no direct power
supply. The machines are diesel-
electric powered with the option of
mains electric power, which also
eliminates the risk of hydraulic oil
spills during operation.
Compact Picking Station
The compact picking station combines air and magnetic separation with
manual sorting in one complete unit. This allows the recovery of many
materials, including hardcore, wood, metal and solid waste for refuse-
derived fuel. Ranging from two to six bays, the picking stations can
accommodate a wide range of skip sizes beneath the picking cabin.
With the support of our five Finlay Plant operations in the North, Central, Southern, South East and
South West we are well placed to sell and support this excellent new range of Kiverco products.
If you would like a copy of the brochure or would like to talk further to one of our sales team please
email sales@finlay-group.co.uk or visit www.kiverco.com
Compact Density Separator
The compact density separator
uses the latest in air separation
technology. With fast and simple
on-site set-up, it efficiently
separates material into useable
fractions to produce clean products.
The self-contained density
separator reduces the amount of
material that needs to be sent to
landfill; delivering considerable
savings in areas where landfill
taxes and transport costs are high.
Compact Feeder Trommel
The compact feeder trommel carries
out the initial screening of different
sized materials. A key feature of the
machine is that it is fully enclosed
with drum outlet covers, which
minimizes noise and dust. The
feeder trommel has been designed
to be adaptive, with two- or three-
way split configuration, and is
suitable for use across a wide
range of applications.
DENSITY SEPARATOR
The Compact DS 150 Density Separator combines fast and simple on-site set up capability with the already proven
design and build quality to give operators the benefit of long lifespan and rugged reliability, in a wide range of
applications.
The DS 150 has been designed to efficiently separate material into usable fractions, using the latest in
air separation technology. The self-contained DS 150 greatly reduces the amount of material that
needs to be sent to landfill, delivering considerable savings in areas where landfill taxes and
transport costs are high.

BREATHING LIFE
INTO A FORMER QUARRY
An existing customer of APS, Aggregate Industries, called on the company’s knowledge and expertise when they
decided to bring one of their quarries back to life. Located in Little Paxton in Cambridgeshire, the quarry had been
dormant for six years and has now bounced back to productivity with the help of a purpose-built CDE washing system to
wash sand and gravel for concrete aggregates.
The highly-engineered CDE system has been configured to a bespoke layout, bringing together standard modular
relocatable units to create a solution specific to the quarry’s exact requirements. The plant features a S2910 static feed
conveyor, AggMax 252SR Logwasher assembly and a Prograde P2-42 twin deck washing screen, as well as a H1565
transfer conveyor and Evowash 151 triple cyclone sand unit.
Other elements include six C1565 stockpilers, a ProGrade rinsing deck and sizing screen and a Trackstack 8042 TSL
sand stockpiling unit.
Duncan Hayden, assistant site manager at Little Paxton Quarry, is very happy with the solution, which is based on a
‘price per tonne’ contract;
As a company we’ve been working with APS for around ten years and they always
come up with the goods without fail. On this site they specified each of the components
to work in tune with each other to deliver maximum performance for us. The plant
had to be designed to comply with stringent guidelines because of its close proximity
to Paxton Pits Nature Reserve, a site of special scientific interest (SSSI). This included
specific heights and noise restrictions as well as a special ‘Moorlands Green’ colour
coating designed to blend with the environment. Nothing was too much trouble.

APS PROVIDES
ONE STOP SHOP
A LAND RESTORATION business has called in the expertise of Aggregate Processing Solutions (APS) to support
its rapid growth. David Einig Contracting, which has its headquarters in Thame, Oxfordshire, has invested in a new
CDE inert waste washing plant to meet the exact needs of the business. The washing plant – based at the company’s
recycling site in Witney, Oxon – has been purpose-built through APS, which is part of the Finlay Group of companies.
Comprising of specific standard modular relocatable units for one specific solution it features an AggMax 250, an M2500
dry screen, as well as an EvoWash 152 and a GEA CF 8000 centrifuge. Other elements include an A400 AquaCycle,
a 100A Aqua Store water tank and a 100m³ buffer tank. The washing plant is being fed by a new, specially adapted Terex
Finlay 883+ and is processing inert material. The system incorporates a very efficient water management system that
recycles a huge percentage of water in closed circuit and only uses a minimal top up to compensate for moisture leaving
the system within the materials that are produced – this is sourced from an on-site borehole. After the recovery of sands
and aggregates, the centrifuge finally recovers any suspended solids in the effluent overflow, cleans the water and
recycles the material found within it. At a rate of 130 tonnes an hour, the plant is scalping off +80mm, washing and
recovering 80-40mm, 40-20mm, 20-10mm and 10-4mm, as well as a soft and sharp sand. The oversize is fed to the
company’s new Tesab RK623CT - also supplied by Finlay Group - to produce Type 1 sub base.
1110
It’s great to see our plant supporting the
expansion of the business. As licensed
partners to CDE, APS has input on the
design, manufacture and deliver all of the
components. This ensures that the water
treatment works in unison with the washing
plant, something you don’t often see with
other systems. We’re a one stop shop.
“
”
I’m really pleased with the new set up. Material goes to the market
as soon as it’s processed, so it’s really important that we have
plant that we can trust.
“
”
David Einig, Managing Director of David Einig Contracting, said:
David Einig Contracting provides plant hire, agricultural contracting and land
restoration services to Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Berkshire. The plant
is the latest machinery supplied by Finlay Group to David Einig Contracting
in the last 12 months. They include a Terex Finlay 674, two Trackstack 80ft
conveyors and an additional Terex Finlay 883+.

DOUBLE SCREEN ACTION
FOR STEEL WORKS
A busy steel works’ contractor has invested in a pair of high-performance screeners, after they exceeded
all expectations while on hire. Harsco Metals and Minerals initially rented two Terex Finlay 693+ Supertrak
machines to tackle a difficult clay-like product at its site in Scunthorpe, but the company was so impressed
by the performance of the plant that it has now turned the short-term deal into a permanent one.
Stephen East, Operations Manager at Harsco Metals and Minerals, says the machines – supplied by Finlay
Plant Northern – are processing material that other plant has struggled with in the past.
One of the machines screens a difficult clay-like material with an approximate throughput of 2,000 tonnes
during a 12-hour shift. It produces two very high quality products; 1,500 tonnes of a 10-50mm product which
is used in the iron making process and 500 tonnes of -10mm product.
The other plant is fed with steel scrap, produced internally from the steel making process. This machine produces
up to 1,000 tonnes per day of -10mm product for ironmaking, as well as approximately 100 tonnes of a 10-50mm
product. The 693+ Supertraks feature a double deck 20’ x 5’ screen box, which can be hydraulically adjusted to
an angle between 18° and 30° and boast a combination of quick wedge tensioning on the top deck and hydraulic
tensioning on the bottom, guaranteeing that mesh set-up and change-out times are kept to a minimum.
The decks provide highly efficient screening capacities even at small aggregate sizes.
Harsco Metals and Minerals has been a customer of the Finlay Group for more than 20 years and have had
30-plus machines for their operations.
The Terex Finlay 693+ Supertraks performed so well on site during the hire period that the
decision to bring them in permanently was quite easy in the end. Both units are dealing with
very difficult and hard-wearing material - something that our other machines couldn’t do easily.
The products we’re getting from the process are ideal for what our customers need.

11. IN JERSEY QUARRY
NEW FOR OLD
2120
CUSTOMERS
After 12 years of sterling service, Simon Sand and Gravel Ltd’s 12 year old
Terex Finlay 390 Hydrascreen has been replaced with a brand new Terex
Finlay 684 2-Deck Screener. The new unit has been supplied in a white paint
finish to blend in with the surroundings.
The Jersey based, family owned firm - which was established in 1909 and is
now run by the fifth generation of the Simon family – is located on the west
cost of the island in the picturesque St Ouen’s Bay. It is the only producer of
sand on the island and the screener is being used to produce three products
for use solely in the Jersey construction industry.
With two 4.3m x 1.7m inclined screen decks, the 684 screener has an
efficient, large capacity screening area as well as three adjustable discharge
conveyors. The top deck – at 16mm – takes off oversize material, leaving a
5-15mm pipe bedding, whilst the 1.2mm stainless steel piano wired bottom
deck is producing 4mm down building sand as well as plastering sand.
The combination of state of the
art quick wedge tensioning on
the top deck, with conveniently
placed access holes and hydraulic
tensioning on the bottom, ensures
mesh set up and change out
times are kept to an absolute
minimum. The compact unit is
easily transportable and features
hydraulically folding conveyors
which enables rapid set up and
tear down times.
Since the purchase of the Terex Finlay 684 I have noticed that my operation
has run a lot more efficiently. We supply about 250 tonnes of material a day
to the industry and that requires us to run the machine just one day a week
to meet demand. I’ve been working with Finlay Plant Southern since 2004
and we’ve had several screeners and a crusher. I always get the right advice
from purchase through to aftersales and I value the knowledge and help
from Finlay which in turn helps me to achieve my business goals.
Jason is now aiming to move away from static machinery to tracked equipment and is so far impressed with his first
tracked unit. Thanks to the screen box size the company has to spend less time screening and have been able to turn
their focus on to other parts of the business.
”
Supplied by Finlay Plant Southern, the unit only has to run for a single day a week to meet demand. Jason Simon,
owner of Simon Sand and Gravel Ltd, has definitely noticed a difference since the arrival of the new kit;

13. KIVERCOAT JCB WASTE DAYS
The Finlay Group team were very excited to be able to attend the JCB Waste & Recycling Event 2017 in May organised
by JCB at their world HQ in Staffordshire. As Finlay Group has very recently been appointed as a licensed specialist hire
company for England and Wales for the new Kiverco Compact range featuring trommels, picking stations and density
separators which were also being showcased at the event – it was a perfect opportunity to take customers, prospects
and our own sales team to the impressive site to view the new range at close hand. The day consisted of a factory tour,
lunch at JCB’s VIP Visitor Centre and an onsite, real-time working demonstration in JCB’s Kevin Quarry of a wide range
of equipment including JCB’s new Hydradig Wastemaster and Teleksid. A team from Kiverco demonstrated the excellent
processing capabilities of the new compact plant working alongside JCB machinery. With more than 400 guests in total
attending the two-day event it is safe to say this was an excellent platform for us here at Finlay Group to network with
the wider industry, to build a closer relationship with a new supplier and to highlight the new products in the range to our
existing customer base. We extend our thanks to JCB and Kiverco for a fantastic event.

TEREX FINLAY
OPEN DAYOn 15th and 16th June Finlay Group was delighted to participate in the Terex Finlay open days which took place
at Alex Brewster & Sons, Craigpark Quarry in Edinburgh. This was a significant event that attracted several
hundred visitors from the UK and Europe over the 2 days. The attendance from Finlay Group customers was
fantastic with over 60 taking the time to travel to Edinburgh from across the Finlay Plant territories in England
and Wales. We would like to thank each and every one of those customers for joining us and for the subsequent
feedback we received about the event.
It was a busy and intensive programme with customers arriving on site for a series of product demonstrations
on day 1. A total of 21 crushing, screening and conveying models were shown – many of which were working in
quarrying and recycling applications, including 7 brand new models. New machines that were showcased included

recycling materials such as incineration slag, shredder light and heavy fraction, scrap metal, electronic scrap, C&D,
C&I, bulky waste, compost, plastic fractions, biomass, topsoil etc. A static model was also displayed for customers
interested in a closer look.
Following the site visit, evening entertainment was laid on at the magnificent Edinburgh Castle which offered
spectacular views over the city on arrival for welcome drinks and traditional Scottish canapes and on Friday
morning there were further, optional demonstrations and displays for customers wishing to take a more
in-depth inspection of the kit.
Dave Statham, MD for the Finlay Group, was exceptionally pleased with the success of the event;
Terex Finlay hosted a superb two days and we have
had very very good feedback from our customers
and prospects. We’ve got some serious enquiries
as a result of this open day and it’s something that
customers would like us to do more regularly,
so we will keep that in mind for next year.

Martensitic
The martensitic steel blow bar is a good option for the widest variety of applications and suitable where there is
variable feed material. It demonstrates good impact resistance against all but the hardest rocks and shows high
resistance to gouging abrasion. It is supplied at around 500BHN and does not work harden. Martensitic steel blow
bars are less susceptible to damage than chrome so the material feed size is only restricted by the chamber feed size.
Chrome
The high chrome blow bar is the ideal choice for highly abrasive applications where there is no oversize high impact
rocks or recycling debris in the feed. It is not tolerant to tramp metal. It is supplied at around 650BHN and does
not work harden. The material feed size must be limited to prevent damage to the blow bars. For Chrome this is a
maximum of 300mm. High Chrome blowbars have a longer lifetime than then martensitic steels.
Martensitic Ceramic
The martensitic ceramic blow bars are used mainly in the recycling industry. They are designed to provide the
high durability of the martensitic material combined with the excellent abrasive resistance of the ceramic insert.
Martensitic Ceramic blow bars are less susceptible to damage than Chrome so the material feed size is only
restricted by the maximum chamber feed size.
SES offers a complete range of blow bar metallurgies to suit all applications, if you are in any doubt about the choice
of blow bar to be used please contact us directly for more information. A choice of blow bars is available

Whether you have a Jaw, Impactor or Cone crusher SES can help you with parts and service support for your
machine whether Terex Finlay, Tesab or other brand.
Jaw Crushers
A choice of tooth profiles to maximise the performance of your Jaw Crusher across many applications.
Super Tooth
This profile of liner is fitted as standard across the Terex
Finlay jaw crusher range. Supertooth is suitable for all typical
quarrying applications and offers excellent wear life throughout
enhanced profile jaw teeth without compromising strength.
Quarry Tooth
This jaw is for use in hard rock and high abrasion applications.
It has increased wear life due to a deeper and wider tooth
profile. It is also a good jaw plate for river gravel applications.
Multi Tooth
The industry choice for many recycling applications.
The “sharper” profile makes the Multi tooth ideal for most
recycling applications, particularly those involving concrete.
It is also more tolerant when recycling asphalt.
Standard Tooth
Suitable for most quarry and recycling and excels in
applications where high rebar content is a factor.
• Avoids uneven and premature wear
• Maximise energy utilisation
• Avoid peak loads
• 18% manganese is supplied as
standard for concaves and mantles
• Options for 14% and 22% are also
available – these are based on
• Cone liner configurations
are totally dependent
upon the feed
Cone Crushers
In all crushing equipment the choice of wear parts often has a direct impact on the quality of the end product
produced – this is especially true for cone crushers where end product specification and quality is of key importance.
With the correct cone wear parts / chamber configurations customers can:
• application and wear rates
• Material size, its characteristics
and the required product size
