Format: one minute title sequence for movie.
Coming of age family drama- looking into and researching a variety of movie genres and title sequences that accompany them- recurring themes and conventions, use of colours, styles.
Decided to go against conventional genres to avoid copying existing sequences- horrors/comedies.
Juno, Sixteen Candles, Breakfast Club and Napoleon Dynamite-noticed they were quite quirky and funky looking.
Decided to do something that would reflect values of movie.
Initial thinking: centres around set of parents and there children, exploring family life and daily battles- disputes, dating, alcohol, school, chores, priorities, caring, love.
This is what I’m aiming to reflect- representation of everything family life is about.
When I envision my sequence this is what I see- close up shots of objects that reflect home.
Although it’s about coming of age family drama, we all have loving home, that’s what I want sequence to convey.
Objects I’ve chosen to use are what I associate with my own home.
Transitioning between shots will be basic cut edits.
Actual shots either still or short pans.
Lighting from natural sources such as sunlight and bulbs within the house- wholesome feel. Rather than artificial and staged.
Song- ‘Home’ by Gabrielle Aplin.
Purpose it to signal start and set mood, also provides acknowledgement to all involved in production.
Therefore one of most important elements.
Need to be visually stimulating to grab attention whilst setting tone and reflecting theme of movie.
Own home- kitchen, chalk.
Nature of sequence and genre of movie it will be representing.
Demographically- working class people within band C1 to D on the social scale.
This is based on research into TV shows with similar themes- Modern family, The Middles, The Fosters- ABC figures.
These are the sort of people that’ll be able to relate to the themes the sequence is conveying.
Capturing footage with Nikon D3100/tripod.
Upload, sort through it, delete unwanted/useless footage and stabilise if required- adobe after effects.
Editing in Adobe Premiere Pro- placing footage in desired order, trimming down to desire length- rough edit.
Begin to edit properly.
