1. Jealousy, Envy, Arrogance And
Proudness Are Not Acceptable
In Islam
Islam highly commends humbleness and simplicity and includes that as one of the
qualities of a true Muslim. Humility is for one who is important and significant and
he tries to gain respect and become great among people. We cannot say to any
ordinary person to be humble and kind. But we can direct or give guidance to that
person by saying to him that you know the value of yourself, if you really know than
do not put it in the wrong place.
2. A person should be humble with his companions. But when the spirit of envy and
competition is troubled between rivals and companions than a person may feel over and
superior among all of his companions, in actuality this is called jealousy.
3. Humility is about showing humbleness to a person who is below you. If you find someone
who is younger or below than you, or of less important than you than you should not
despise or hate him, because he might have a superior heart than you, or should be less
sinful, or closer to ALLAH than you. Even if you see a sinful or wicked person and you are the
righteous, do not act with haughtiness towards him, and thank ALLAH that He saved you
from the misfortune that He put other person through. Remember that there should be
some Riyaa (showing off) or pride in your righteous deeds that may cause them to be of no
benefit, and that this sinful person may be fearful and regretful concerning his bad acts and
deeds, and this may be the cause of forgiveness of his all sins.
Therefore, do not act in arrogantly and haughty way towards anyone. Even when you see a
sinner, do not express superiority towards him, nor treat him with domination and
arrogance. If you feel that the sinner person may perform some acts and deeds of obedience
which you do not, and that you can also posses some defects and issue which the sinner
may not, then deal gently with him, and kindly give Dua which will hopefully be the cause of
his remembrance and acceptance.
4. Your deeds and acts also should not become too huge in your eyes. If you do any good deed
with proud and with arrogance, or attempt to get closer to ALLAH Almighty through an act
of obedience than your deed still may not be accepted.
ALLAH Says in Holy Quran, verse 5:27
And recite to them the story of Adam’s two sons, in truth, when they both offered a
sacrifice [to ALLAH], and it was accepted from one of them but was not accepted from the
other. Said [the latter], “I will surely kill you.” Said [the former], “Indeed, ALLAH only
accepts from the righteous [who fear Him]
