Jane, a young mother, sees the advertisement The sound of people talking and general

Kate, the woman selling the shoes, sits on the Silence, which is broken by a knock on the
sofa in her immaculate lounge. She reacts door
sharply to the knock on the door and gets up
to answer it, straightening out her clothing as
she does so.
Kate opens the door and smiles an obviously ‘Hi! I’m Kate, please come in come in’
fake, over exaggerated smile. Jane responds
with a slightly shy, uncomfortable smile. Kate ‘Oh, um, hello. Jane’
greets Jane and introduces herself. Jane is
clearly very shy and mumbles a greeting in
return. Kate helps Jane to pull her pushchair
in, beaming falsely at the baby.
