2. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik invited investors and captains of industry to make investment
in Odisha which is fast emerging as the Eastern Gateway of India.
3. Addressing the Captains of Industry at an Investors Meet and a Roadshow planned by the
State Government here to woo investment to State, he said the first edition of the Make in
Odisha Conclave evoked enthusiastic response with announcement of over Rs 2 lakh crore
investment intents.
4. The State Government has demonstrated its commitment to deliver the projects on ground.
About 65 per cent of the projects are at various stages of approval and implementation,” he
told the prospective investors.
5. “The location is historical, being the Gateway of India. I am here as the Chief Minister of
Odisha, to invite all of you to make investment in Odisha, which is fast emerging as the
Eastern Gateway of India,” said Naveen Patnaik adding, “I had visited Mumbai two years
back and had met some of you. I am glad to say that our 2016 road show resulted in
significant investments, which are closely following up.”
6. Mr.Patnaik said Odisha provides a welcoming experience to the investors and expats living
here.
7. “Propelled by continued reforms in public service delivery, enhanced citizen amenities and a
vision for excellence, a recent global survey has ranked Bhubaneswar among the Top 50
Smart City Governments in the world”, the Chief Minister added.
8. Mr.Patnaik said, “Odisha has a vibrant start-up ecosystem. With a few months of our
launching the ‘Start-up Odisha’ initiative, 250 Startups have already registered in the State.
Odisha is poised to be amongst top 3 Startup hubs of India by 2020.”
9. Drawing the attention of the investors to some of the developments and trends that are
happening in Odisha, which are indicative of the State’s growth agenda, the Chief Minister
said that Paradip is one of the largest and fast growing ports of India while Dhamra is fast
emerging to add strength to the port-led manufacturing base.
10. “Apart from these deep-water ports along the East Coast Economic Corridor, we have also
approved the first riverine port project of Odisha to be set up on Mahanadi River in
Kendrapara district with a cargo handling capacity of over 45 million tonnes per annum,” he
said.
11. Moreover, he said the State Government is developing a chain of 12 non-major ports along
our coast to usher in an unprecedented development in the region.
12. “Focussing on the development of human capital, my Government has launched ‘Skilled in
Odisha’ programme which is coming up as a global brand. I am happy to announce that a
World Skill Center with a 18-floor infrastructure is now ready in the capital city of
Bhubaneswar. We are aiming at providing the best physical, digital and intellectual
infrastructure to bring transformative human development through skilling of our youth,” the
Chief Minister added.
13. Later in his statement to media, the Chief Minister said he was immensely pleased to be in
India’s Maximum City.
14. “I have come here to meet the investor community and invite them to explore setting up the
manufacturing facilities in Odisha. I thank all the business leaders for turning out in such
large numbers to attend this Investors’ Meet and encouraging us,” he said.
15. Mr.Patnaik said Odisha is fast emerging as the ‘Manufacturing Hub of Eastern India’. The
State Government will be organizing the second edition of its flagship initiative, the Make in
Odisha Conclave from November 11 to November 15 this year at Bhubaneswar to showcase
the manufacturing prowess of the State and the varied investment opportunities, he said.
