Mise en scène analysis
1. Mise en Scène Analysis
Notice how the man is placed centrally in the
picture. Now science shows that humans eyes
concentrate or find it easier to see either side of
the middle, so I believe that the director of this
shot wants us to look around the man and less on
him.
There are so many props to this setting and from an
audience point of view, it is a lot to take in. But I
think that’s what the director wants, I believe he
wants us to see a busy un-tidy environment, and
also to connote possibly unstableness as the man
connote clean or get rid of his possessions
Little props but
without them
they wouldn’t
make the scene
The man is clearly thinking in this
frame as we see him in a classic pose:
legs crossed eyes glazed over, unaware
of his surroundings.
The man is well dressed which shows he may be wealthy. The
colours of his clothes suggest that the film was set in the
1960s possibly, but from reading an overview, the man may
just be wearing what he thought fashionable when he was
young.
