• World Wide Web or the (web or www)
• It is the largest collection of information available on the
internet.
• WWW contains millions of websites which provide
information in the form of text, animation and pictures etc.,
Thus, you can say the internet is like a library or a location
which contains a large number of books.

pages.
• It helps you to access and surf the internet by viewing web pages.
• Moving from one web site to another is called surfing the internet.
• There are many browsers available, the most commonly used are:
Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox and Netscape
Navigator.

• It is like a page of your book.
• It is also explained as a document on the World Wide Web.
• Web Page can be a full page or a single paragraph, and it’s a
combination of text and graphics.
• It is stored in electronic form on a computer connected to the
internet.
• The first webpage displayed on your browser is called the
HOMEPAGE.
9. • Surfing the internet is made possible by
web browsers.
• Title bar: The blue bar at the top of the web browser window in
both the Fire Fox and Internet Explorer that contains the name of
the web site is called Title Bar.
• Menu Bar: This bar is located underneath the title bar which
contains the commands and options. You can access many
features using this drop down menus.
• Tool Bar: The toolbar and its icons are at the top of your
browser window right underneath the menu bar. This is where you
will see the back button, the Home button, the Refresh button, etc.,
10. • Address Bar: This is the box at the top of your browser
window that displays the entire web site address used for navigating
the web.
11. E-mail (Electronic Mail)
• E-mail is much the same as a letter, only that it is sent in a different
way.
• Email provides a fast and convenient way to send messages to
friends and family, if you know the email address of the person.
• Email can be sent anywhere around the world.
• An e-mail address defines the location of an individual’s mailbox
on the Internet.
• An e-mail address consists of two parts separated by @ symbol.
