The Circus Project offers elite aerial,
acrobatic, and performance training for
children and adults, beginning through
professional levels. We specialize in
modern, Cirque du Soleil style aerial and
acrobatic training, which integrates
elements of circus, theatre, music, and
dance. Circus Project coaches are lead-
ing professionals in their specialty and
accomplished instructors. The Circus
Project offers classes suitable for every age
and ability, appropriate both for those
seeking an alternative workout and those
interested in pursuing a professional track.

offer private instruction and performance
opportunities for students of all ages and

Beginning through advanced aerial classes
utilize trapeze, aerial fabric, and aerial hoop to
provide children with a strong foundation in
movement and creative arts that nourishes their
physical, imaginative, and emotional abilities in a
supportive and playful environment. Classes are
designed to provide a solid foundation in aerial
technique and artistry, develop strength and
flexibility, and encourage positive body image
and self-esteem. With a maximum teacher/stu-
dent ration of 1/5, individual attention encourag-
es the development of each child’s unique gifts.

The Circus Project is thrilled to have on staff,
Austrian National Champion in sports acrobat-
ics, and massage therapist, Stefan Furst. Stefan’s
intimate knowledge of anatomy and physiology,
coupled with his 30 + years of experience as an
acrobatic champion and coach, have enabled
him to develop a unique training methodology
for partner and sports acrobatics. Children’s ac-
robatic classes combine training in handstands,
tumbling, and partner acrobatics for beginning
through professional track students.

Wednesdays 3:30 – 5:30pm, July 6 – Aug 24
Discover how to develop and keep the voice free
while in character on stage. Learn techniques
that draw from the Alexander method and from
body awareness that help singers take theatrical
choreography to the next level while keeping the
breath engaged. Students will learn vocal and

Saturdays 1-3pm, July 9 – Aug 27
Beginning adult aerial classes offer participants
an opportunity to experiment with various
aerial apparatus (static trapeze, aerial fabric, and
aerial hoop) while building a solid foundation in
aerial technique and acquiring basic aerial skills/
tricks. Classes utilize both aerial and floor work to
develop core strength, flexibility, coordination,
and ease of movement, and are appropriate for
all fitness levels. Beginning Aerial is designed for
those looking for an invigorating, new workout as
well as those looking to pursue continued training
opportunities in aerial arts.
Cost: $240 (early bird by June 13), $270 (after
June 13)

Sundays 5-7pm, July 10 – Aug 28
This class is open to professionals and advanced
students who are in the process of developing new
acts or improving old ones. Class size is limited to
3 people and will utilize various forms of improvisa-
tion to craft or augment acts that are both emo-
tionally and physically riveting.
Cost: $340

Fridays 6-8pm & Sundays 3-5pm
Open gym hours provide an opportunity for
intermediate through professional level aerialists
and other circus performers to train independently
outside of class hours and build community among
student and professional Portland circus artists.
Open gym hours are supervised (not coached).

Cost: $10/class package or $15/class drop-in
mental exercises that strengthen technique
while fine tuning their ability to hold an audience
through subtext and character development.
Students may create pieces that incorporate their
other performance interests, such as dance, aerial
or acrobatics with instructor approval.

Tuesdays, 4:30 – 6:30pm, July 5- Aug 23
Being a circus performer means having more than
just skills; it requires the ability to be comfortable,
authentic, and expressive on stage and in charac-
ter. This class will explore using movement, voice,
and the imagination to develop stage presence
and creative engagement. Students will work
together with theatrical games and structures
created to foster a sense of trust, sharing and play.
They will also have the opportunity to create per-
formances for the stage.
