1. THE LOCATION OF THE UNDERGROUND UTILITIES HAVE BEEN OBTAINED BY DILIGENT FIELD CHECKS AND SEARCHES OF
AVAILABLE RECORDS. IT IS BELIEVED THAT THEY ARE ESSENTIALLY CORRECT, HOWEVER ACCURACY AND/OR
COMPLETENESS IS NOT GUARANTEED.
2. THE REMOVAL OF ALL EXISTING PIPE DRAINS WHICH WOULD NORMALLY BE REMOVED IN VARIOUS EXCAVATION ITEMS SHALL
BE INCLUDED FOR PAYMENT IN THE UNIT PRICE BID FOR THE RESPECTIVE EXCAVATION ITEM, UNLESS OTHERWISE ITEMIZED
IN THE PLANS.

TRANSPORTATION'S CONSTRUCTION AND MATERIAL SPECIFICATIONS LATEST EDITION UNLESS OTHERWISE MODIFIED HEREIN.
MOST RESTRICTIVE SHALL APPLY AS DETERMINED BY THE ENGINEER.
4. PLAN & PROFILE ELEVATIONS ARE BASED ON AN IRON SPIKE LOCATED ON THE WEST SIDE OF A LIGHT POLE LYING TO THE
NORTH AND EAST OF THE PROJECT LIMITS. SAID ELEVATIONS = 101.75'.
5. THE FOLLOWING UTILITIES AND OWNERS ARE LOCATED WITHIN THE WORK LIMITS OF THIS PROJECT.

6. IF DURING THE CONSTRUCTION, INTERFERENCE ARISES WITH EXISTING UTILITIES IT SHALL BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE
CONTRACTOR TO NOTIFY THE UTILITY COMPANY INVOLVED. ANY AND ALL WORK REQUIRED FOR PUBLIC OR PRIVATE
UTILITIES WILL BE DONE BY AND AT THE EXPENSE OF THEIR RESPECTIVE OWNERS, UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED ON THESE
PLANS. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL NOTIFY, AT LEAST SEVEN (7) DAYS BEFORE BREAKING GROUND, ALL PUBLIC SERVICE
CORPORATIONS HAVING WIRES, POLES, PIPES, CONDUITS, MANHOLES, OR OTHER STRUCTURES THAT MAY BE AFFECTED BY
THIS CONSTRUCTION. THIS NOTIFICATION WILL EXTEND TO ANY PUBLIC SERVICE CORPORATION; WHETHER SHOWN OR
NOT.
7. ITEM 203 EXCAVATION, AS PER PLAN:
THIS ITEM OF WORK SHALL CONSIST OF THE WORK AS DESCRIBED IN THE OHIO DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION ITEM 203
ROADWAY EXCAVATION AND EMBANKMENT EXCEPT AS HEREIN MODIFIED.
THIS WORK SHALL INCLUDE "PROOF ROLLING" WITH LOADED TANDEM DUMP TRUCK AS DIRECTED BY THE CITY UNTIL NO
DEFLECTION OR TIRE INDENTATION IN THE SUB-GRADE IS PRESENT.
ALL SURFACE MATERIAL, EXCAVATED AND UNSUITABLE MATERIAL AND ALL EXCESS EXCAVATED MATERIAL SHALL BE
DISPOSED OF BY THE CONTRACTOR AT HIS RESPONSIBILITY AND EXPENSE OUTSIDE THE LIMITS OF THE RIGHT-OF-WAY AT A
SITE APPROVED BY THE CITY.
PAYMENT FOR ITEM 203 EXCAVATION, AS PER PLAN, FOR ALL OPERATIONS DESCRIBED ABOVE SHALL BE AT THE CONTRACT
CUBIC YARD BID PRICE AND SHALL INCLUDE ALL LABOR, MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT REQUIRED TO COMPLETE THIS ITEM OF
WORK. THE QUANTITY SHOWN ON THE BID PROPOSAL FOR EXCAVATION CONSTRUCTION IS ESTIMATED FOR BID PURPOSES
ONLY. IT IS THE CONTRACTOR'S RESPONSIBILITY TO VERIFY THIS ESTIMATED QUANTITY AND ADJUST HIS UNIT PRICE BID
ACCORDINGLY. PAYMENT FOR THIS ITEM SHALL BE AS BID REGARDLESS OF THE FINAL ACTUAL QUANTITY.
ALL EMBANKMENT REQUIRED TO CONSTRUCT THESE IMPROVEMENTS SHALL BE CONSIDERED INCIDENTAL. THE COST OF ALL
LABOR, EQUIPMENT, AND MATERIALS NECESSARY TO PERFORM ALL EMBANKMENT CONSTRUCTION SHALL BE INCLUDED IN
THE UNITY PRICE BID FOR ITEM 203, EXCAVATION, AS PER PLAN.
8. ALL AREAS TO BE SEEDED AND MULCHED SHALL RECEIVE A MINIMUM OF 6" OF TOPSOIL. AFTER PLACEMENT OF THE
TOPSOIL, THE AREA SHALL BE RAKED, ROLLED AND DRESSED FOR SEEDING. NO STONES OR CLODS OVER 1" IN DIAMETER
WILL BE PERMITTED.
9. THE COST OF ALL LABOR, EQUIPMENT AND MATERIALS NECESSARY TO FURNISH AND INSTALL ALL TOPSOIL NECESSARY TO
PREPARE AREAS THAT ARE TO BE SEEDED AND MULCHED SHALL BE INCLUDED IN THE UNIT BID PRICE FOR ITEM 659,
SEEDING AND MULCHING, AS PER PLAN.
10. SEEDING AND MULCHING SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH ODOT CMS ITEM 659 WITH THIS EXCEPTION: THE FOLLOWING
SEED MIXTURE SHALL BE USED IN LIEU OF CLASS 1 MIX AS LISTED ON TABLE 659.09-1.

11. RECORD PLANS:
THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR KEEPING NOTES OF THE CONSTRUCTION PROCESS THAT CAN BE PRESENTED TO
THE ENGINEER FOR DEVELOPMENT RECORD PLANS. SUCH NOTES SHALL INCLUDE INFORMATION GATHERED DURING THE
SEQUENCE OF CONSTRUCTION, REGARDING UNDERGROUND UTILITY LOCATIONS, INCLUDING DEPTHS. ESPECIALLY OF INTEREST
SHALL BE ANY UTILITIES NOT SHOWN ON THE PLANS OR DEVIATIONS FROM LOCATIONS SHOWN ON THE PLANS. UNDERGROUND
UTILITIES SHALL INCLUDE STORM DRAINS, GAS LINES, ELECTRIC AND COMMUNICATION CABLES, AS WELL AS EXISTING WATER
LINES AND SANITARY SEWER LINES THAT ARE SCHEDULED TO REMAIN IN SERVICE. ALSO, NEW LATERAL AND SERVICE LINE
LOCATIONS, INCLUDING DEPTHS, SHALL BE RECORDED. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PRESENT THIS INFORMATION TO THE
ENGINEER UPON COMPLETION OF CONSTRUCTION.
12. ITEM 204 - SUBGRADE PREPARATION (UNSUITABLE MATERIAL)
THE CITY SHALL RESERVE THE RIGHT TO DIRECT THE CONTRACTOR TO EXCAVATE ANY UNSUITABLE SUBGRADE AND REPLACE IT
WITH ITEM 304 AGGREGATE BASE (THOROUGHLY COMPACTED). THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE PAID ON A CUBIC YARD BASIS
MEASURED "IN PLACE" AND BY CROSS SECTION. FOR BID PURPOSES, 150 C.Y. ARE INCLUDED ON THE BID PROPOSAL. THE CITY
RESERVES THE RIGHT TO ADD, DEDUCT OR NON-PERFORM THIS WORK, AS NEEDED TO OBTAIN A SUITABLE SUBGRADE.
IN ADDITION TO THE AGGREGATE BASE, THE ENGINEER MAY ALSO DIRECT THE CONTRACTOR TO INSTALL GEOGRID IN THESE
AREAS. FOR BID PURPOSES, 450 S.Y. OF ITEM 204, SUBGRADE STABILIZATION GEOGRID PLACEMENT HAS BEEN ADDED TO THE
BID PROPOSAL. THE CITY RESERVES THE RIGHT TO ADD, DEDUCT OR NON-PERFORM THIS WORK, AS NEEDED TO ATTAIN A
SUITABLE SUBGRADE. GEOGRID INSTALLED AS PART OF THIS ITEM SHALL BE TENSAR TX-1600 OR AN APPROVED EQUAL.
24. SUBCONTRACTOR SUPERVISION
THE CONTRACTOR IS REQUIRED TO HAVE SOMEONE ON-SITE TO SUPERVISE THE SUBCONTRACTOR FOR QUALITY CONTROL PURPOSES AND TO
PROVIDE ANY NECESSARY ASSISTANCE TO THE SUBCONTRACTOR TO ENSURE QUALITY CONTROL.
25. DEWATERING
ANY NECESSARY DEWATERING OR PUMPING NECESSARY FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF ANY ITEMS SHALL BE INCIDENTAL TO THOSE
PARTICULAR CONSTRUCTION ITEMS.
26. MUD
THE TRACKING OR SPILLAGE OF MUD, DIRT, OR DEBRIS UPON THE STREETS IS PROHIBITED AND ANY SUCH OCCURRENCE SHALL BE CLEANED
UP IMMEDIATELY BY THE CONTRACTOR.
27. SAFETY
THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE SOLELY RESPONSIBLE FOR COMPLYING WITH ALL FEDERAL, STATE AND LOCAL SAFETY REQUIREMENTS
TOGETHER WITH EXERCISING PRECAUTIONS AT ALL TIMES FOR THE PROTECTION OF PERSONS (INCLUDING EMPLOYEES) AND PROPERTY. IT
IS ALSO THE SOLE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE CONTRACTOR TO INITIATE, MAINTAIN, AND SUPERVISE ALL SAFETY REQUIREMENTS,
PRECAUTIONS, AND PROGRAMS IN CONNECTION WITH THE WORK.
28. CONCURRENT ACTIVITY WITH UTILITY COMPANIES
THE CONTRACTOR IS HEREBY ADVISED THAT ALL UTILITY COMPANIES AFFECTED BY THIS PROJECT MAY BE WORKING CONCURRENTLY WITHIN
THE PROJECT LIMITS. NO ADDITIONAL COMPENSATION WILL BE MADE TO THE CONTRACTOR. EXISTING POLES WILL BE RELOCATED BY
OTHERS. GAS VALVES SHALL BE ADJUSTED BY OTHERS. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR COORDINATION WITH THE UTILITY
COMPANIES.
29. WATER MAINS SHALL HAVE 4'-6" MINIMUM COVER AND A MINIMUM HORIZONTAL SEPARATION OF 10' FROM SANITARY SEWERS WHEN LAID
PARALLEL TO THEM.
30. WATER LINES CROSSING ANY AND ALL SEWERS SHALL HAVE A MINIMUM VERTICAL SEPARATION OF 18" BETWEEN THE OUTSIDES OF THE
WATER MAIN PIPE AND THE SEWER PIPE. ONE FULL LENGTH OF WATER MAIN PIPE SHALL BE CENTERED AT THE POINT OF CROSSING SUCH
THAT BOTH JOINTS WILL BE EQUIDISTANT AND AS FAR FROM THE SEWER AS POSSIBLE. IF THE WATER LINE CROSSES BELOW THE SANITARY
SEWER, THE SEWER MUST BE CONSTRUCTED OF WATER MAIN MATERIAL FOR A DISTANCE OF 10' EACH SIDE OF THE CROSSING.
31. THE COST OF ALL LABOR, EQUIPMENT AND MATERIALS NECESSARY TO INSTALL ALL CONCRETE COLLARS AND FERNCO COUPLINGS SHALL BE
INCLUDED IN THE UNIT PRICE BID FOR THE PROPOSED CONDUIT ITEM BEING INSTALLED.
32. WATER LINE DISINFECTION
THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR HAVING ALL WATER LINES DISINFECTED AS PER THE LATEST REQUIREMENTS OF AWWA C651
AND ALL REQUIREMENTS AS SHOWN IN THE TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS FOR THIS PROJECT. THE COST OF ALL LABOR, EQUIPMENT AND
MATERIALS NECESSARY TO PERFORM THE DISINFECTION SHALL BE INCLUDED IN THE CONTRACTOR'S UNIT PRICE BID FOR THE WATER LINE
ITEMS. ALL WATER SAMPLES COLLECTED FOR TESTING SHALL BE TAKEN IN THE PRESENCE OF CITY PERSONNEL.
ALL COST ASSOCIATED WITH THE LABORATORY TESTING SHALL BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE CONTRACTOR AND SHALL BE INCLUDED IN
THE CONTRACTOR'S UNIT PRICE BID FOR THE WATER LINE ITEMS.
33. OWNER OR ENGINEER
THE TERMS "OWNER" SHALL APPLY TO THE CITY OF GREENVILLE AND "ENGINEER" SHALL APPLY TO THE REGISTERED ENGINEER.
34. CONSTRUCTION MEANS AND METHODS
THE CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL CONSTRUCTION MEANS AND METHODS. THIS WILL INCLUDE, BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
PROTECTION OF EXISTING UTILITIES
PROTECTION OF THE WORK AND MATERIALS TO BE INCORPORATED INTO THE WORK
CONTROL OF DAMAGE TO EXISTING FEATURES
DEFINITION AND IMPLEMENTATION OF ALL JOB SITE SAFETY REQUIREMENTS
TESTING TO ENSURE QUALITY CONTROL
MAINTENANCE OF UNINTERRUPTED PEDESTRIAN AND VEHICULAR TRAFFIC
SITE CHANGES AND PROPER DISPOSAL OF ALL CONSTRUCTION DEBRIS
35. TRENCH BACKFILL/PIPE BEDDING:
36. CONSTRUCTION NOISE
IN ORDER TO MINIMIZE ANY ADVERSE CONSTRUCTION NOISE IMPACTS, ANY POWER-OPERATED CONSTRUCTION TYPE DEVICE SHALL NOT BE
OPERATED BETWEEN THE HOURS OF 7:00 AM TO 7:00 PM UNLESS AUTHORIZED BY CITY PERSONNEL. IN ADDITION, ANY SUCH DEVICE SHALL
NOT BE OPERATED AT ANY TIME IN SUCH A MANNER THAT THE NOISE CREATED SUBSTANTIALLY EXCEEDS THE NOISE CUSTOMARILY AND
NECESSARILY ATTENDANT TO THE REASONABLE AND EFFICIENT PERFORMANCE OF SUCH EQUIPMENT.
37. OVERNIGHT TRENCH CLOSING
NO TRENCH SHALL BE LEFT OPEN OVERNIGHT EXCEPT FOR A SHORT LENGTH (25 FEET OR LESS) OF A WORK SECTION AT THE END OF THE
TRENCH. THE TRENCH SHALL BE FILLED TO A DEPTH OF NO MORE THAN 5 INCHES BELOW THE EXISTING PAVEMENT BY THE END OF THE
WORK DAY. A METAL PLATE IS TO BE SECURED OVER THE OPEN SECTION. THIS AREA SHALL BE ADEQUATELY MAINTAINED AND PROTECTED
WITH REFLECTIVE DRUMS AND FLASHING LIGHTS TO THE SATISFACTION OF CITY PERSONNEL. IN CASE WORK MUST BE SUSPENDED BECAUSE
OF INCLEMENT WEATHER OR OTHER REASONS, THE TRENCH SHALL BE BACKFILLED AND SECURED AT THE DIRECTION OF THE CITY.
38. CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL WET TAPS AND ALL COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH THEM.
39. CHANGES IN CONTRACT PRICE
ALL WORK THAT REQUIRES AN INCREASE IN THE TOTAL CONTRACT VALUE MUST BE AUTHORIZED BY THE OWNER VIA SIGNATURE ON A
CHANGE ORDER FORM OR A FIELD WORK ORDER FORM. AUTHORIZATION MUST BE OBTAINED BEFORE THE WORK IS PERFORMED OR SUCH
WORK IS PROVIDED AT THE CONTRACTOR'S SOLE EXPENSE.
40. CONSTRUCTION STAKING:
MOTE AND ASSOCIATES, INC. 214 WEST FOURTH STREET GREENVILLE, OHIO (937) 548-7511 WILL PROVIDE CONSTRUCTION STAKING ON
BEHALF OF THE CITY OF GREENVILLE. STAKING WILL BE PROVIDED TO THE CONTRACTOR ON A ONE TIME BASIS. ANY RESTAKING REQUIRED
WILL BE AT THE CONTRACTORS EXPENSE. CONTACT MR. LOUIS BERGMAN, AT THE NUMBER LISTED ABOVE, A MINIMUM OF 72 HOURS PRIOR
TO NEEDING ANY STAKING COMPLETED.
41. EXISTING STREET SIGNS:
13. ITEM 614 - MAINTAINING TRAFFIC
ALL TEMPORARY TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES SHALL BE FURNISHED, ERECTED, MAINTAINED AND REMOVED BY THE
CONTRACTOR IN ACCORDANCE WITH SECTION 614.02(A). OF THE OHIO MANUAL OF UNIFORM TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES
AND THE CITY'S REQUEST.
DRIVEWAY CLOSURES MAY BE NECESSARY TO ENABLE WORK ON OR IN FRONT OF DRIVE. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL GIVE
THE PROPERTY OWNER NOTIFICATION FORTY EIGHT (48) HOURS IN ADVANCE OF CLOSURE.
FORTY EIGHT (48) HOURS PRIOR TO ANY LANE RESTRICTIONS, THE CITY MUST BE CONTACTED AND APPROVE THE
RESTRICTION. THE CITY WILL NOTIFY ALL EMERGENCY PERSONNEL.
THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE, ERECT AND MAINTAIN SIGNS AND SIGN SUPPORTS AND BARRICADES IN ACCORDANCE
WITH THE OHIO MANUAL OF UNIFORM TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE THE CITY WITH THE
NAME AND TELEPHONE NUMBER OF A PERSON/PERSONS WHO CAN BE CONTACTED 24 HOURS A DAY. THIS PERSON SHALL
BE RESPONSIBLE FOR PLACING OR REPLACING NECESSARY TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES AND PAVEMENT REPAIR MATERIALS

14. ITEM 603 - STORM SEWER (O.D.O.T. 707.33)
THIS ITEM OF WORK SHALL CONSIST OF THE WORK AS DESCRIBED IN THE OHIO DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION ITEM
603, PIPE CULVERTS, SEWERS AND DRAINS EXCEPT AS HEREIN MODIFIED.
STORM SEWER CONDUIT SHALL BE CORRUGATED POLYETHYLENE SMOOTH LINED PIPE MEETING THE REQUIREMENTS OF
AASHTO M 294, TYPE S. PIPES SHALL BE JOINED WITH SURE-LOK (BELL AND SPIGOT) JOINTS MEETING THE REQUIREMENTS
OF AASHTO-294 OR EQUAL, APPROVED BY THE ENGINEER. THE BELL AND SPIGOT SHALL INCORPORATE A GASKET MAKING IT
SILT TIGHT.
15. ITEM 304 - AGGREGATE BASE, AS PER PLAN
THIS ITEM SHALL CONSIST OF THE WORK AS DESCRIBED IN THE OHIO DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION ITEM 304
AGGREGATE BASE, EXCEPT AS MODIFIED HEREIN.
THIS WORK SHALL INCLUDE SATURATING THE AGGREGATE BASE WITH WATER DURING PLACEMENT OF EACH LIFT, PRIOR TO
COMPACTION.
THIS WORK SHALL INCLUDE "PROOF ROLLING" WITH A LOADED TANDEM DUMP TRUCK AS DIRECTED BY THE CITY UNTIL NO
DEFLECTION OR TIRE INDENTATION IS PRESENT IN THE AGGREGATE BASE.
PAYMENT FOR THIS ITEM FOR ALL OPERATIONS DESCRIBED ABOVE SHALL BE AT THE CONTRACT CUBIC YARD BID PRICE AND
SHALL INCLUDE ALL LABOR, MATERIAL AND EQUIPMENT REQUIRED TO COMPLETE THIS ITEM OF WORK.
16. UTILITY INTERFERENCE
IF DURING CONSTRUCTION INTERFERENCE ARISES WITH EXISTING UTILITIES IT SHALL BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE
CONTRACTOR TO NOTIFY THE UTILITY COMPANY INVOLVED. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL NOTIFY, AT LEAST SEVEN (7) DAYS
BEFORE BREAKING GROUND, ALL PUBLIC SERVICE CORPORATIONS HAVING WIRES, POLES, PIPES, CONDUITS, MANHOLES, OR
OTHER STRUCTURES THAT MAY BE AFFECTED BY THIS OPERATION. THERE WILL BE NO DELAYS ALLOWED FOR UTILITY
INTERFERENCE.
17. EXISTING TILE HOOKUPS
ALL DRAINAGE TILES REMOVED, REPLACED, AND/OR CONNECTED TO THE PROPOSED STORM SEWER SHALL BE NOTED ON
THE RECORD DRAWINGS AND SHALL BE INSPECTED BY THE CITY PRIOR TO BEING COVERED.
ALL FIELD TILES OR STORM DRAINS WHICH ARE ENCOUNTERED DURING CONSTRUCTION SHALL BE CONNECTED TO THE NEW
STORM SEWER OR PLUGGED, AS APPROVED AND DIRECTED BY REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ENGINEER.
18. PROPERTY POINTS AND SURVEY MONUMENTS
CARE SHALL BE TAKEN BY THE CONTRACTOR TO SAFEGUARD ANY PROPERTY POINTS OR OTHER SURVEY REFERENCE MARKS
ENCOUNTERED DURING CONSTRUCTION OF THIS PROJECT. IT SHALL BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE CONTRACTOR TO
RESET ANY PROPERTY PINS OR SURVEY MONUMENTS WHICH ARE DISTURBED AS A RESULT OF CONSTRUCTION OF THIS
PROJECT. THE PROPERTY PINS AND SURVEY MONUMENTS SHALL BE RESET UNDER THE SUPERVISION OF A REGISTERED
PROFESSIONAL SURVEYOR.
PAYMENT FOR THIS ITEM SHALL BE INCIDENTAL TO THE OTHER ITEMS PAID FOR IN THIS PROJECT.
19. CONSTRUCTION LIMITS
THE CONSTRUCTION LIMITS SHALL BE AREAS LOCATED WITHIN THE EXISTING AND PROPOSED ROAD RIGHT-OF-WAYS.
21. SPECIAL CONDITIONS
ALL CONCRETE WORK MUST BE FINISHED TO THE SATISFACTION OF THE ENGINEER. CONCRETE CURB PLACED BY MACHINE
MUST BE HAND TROWELED PRIOR TO BROOMING. NO WATER MAY BE USED TO ASSIST TROWELING.
22. SAW CUT PAVEMENT JOINTS
SAW CUT PAVEMENT JOINTS SHALL BE INCLUDED IN THE PAYMENT OF ITEM 448, ASPHALT CONCRETE SURFACE COURSE.
MORE THAN ONE SAWCUT MAY BE NECESSARY TO ENSURE A CLEAN CUT.
JUST PRIOR TO ASPHALT PLACEMENT, BITUMINOUS MATERIAL SHALL BE PLACED ON THE VERTICAL FACE OF THE SAW CUT
JOINTS PRIOR TO PAVING AS PER 401.14. IN ADDITION TO THE SAWCUT JOINTS, ALL OTHER VERTICAL FACES (I.E. EXISTING
PAVEMENT, CURB AND GUTTER, MANHOLES, AND OTHER STRUCTURES) SHALL BE COATED WITH BITUMINOUS MATERIAL IN
ACCORDANCE WITH 401.14. AFTER THE ASPHALT WORK IS COMPLETED, THE TRANSVERSE JOINTS SHALL BE SEALED WITH
LIQUID ASPHALT. THE JOINT PREPARATION AND SEALING SHALL BE INCLUDED IN THE PAYMENT FOR ITEM 448, ASPHALT
CONCRETE SURFACE COURSE.
23. DEMOLITION NOTES
THE CONTRACTOR SHALL SAW CUT ALL EXISTING PAVEMENT, SIDEWALK AND CURB AGAINST WHICH ALL IMPROVEMENTS
ARE PROPOSED. PAVEMENT, WALK, AND CURB SHALL BE SAW CUT IN NEAT, STRAIGHT LINES. COST FOR SAW CUTTING
SHALL BE INCLUDED IN THE RELATED REMOVAL ITEM.
ALL WORK ASSOCIATED WITH REMOVING, RELOCATING OR REPLACING ANY EXISTING STREET SIGNS, WITHIN THE PROJECT LIMITS, SHALL

ITEM 204 - SUBGRADE PREPARATION (UNSUITABLE MATERIAL) THE CITY SHALL RESERVE THE RIGHT TO DIRECT THE CONTRACTOR TO EXCAVATE ANY UNSUITABLE SUBGRADE AND REPLACE IT WITH ITEM 304 AGGREGATE BASE (THOROUGHLY COMPACTED). THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE PAID ON A CUBIC YARD BASIS MEASURED "IN PLACE" AND BY CROSS SECTION. FOR BID PURPOSES, 150 C.Y. ARE INCLUDED ON THE BID PROPOSAL. THE CITY RESERVES THE RIGHT TO ADD, DEDUCT OR NON-PERFORM THIS WORK, AS NEEDED TO OBTAIN A SUITABLE SUBGRADE. IN ADDITION TO THE AGGREGATE BASE, THE ENGINEER MAY ALSO DIRECT THE CONTRACTOR TO INSTALL GEOGRID IN THESE AREAS. FOR BID PURPOSES, 450 S.Y. OF ITEM 204, SUBGRADE STABILIZATION GEOGRID PLACEMENT HAS BEEN ADDED TO THE BID PROPOSAL. THE CITY RESERVES THE RIGHT TO ADD, DEDUCT OR NON-PERFORM THIS WORK, AS NEEDED TO ATTAIN A SUITABLE SUBGRADE. GEOGRID INSTALLED AS PART OF THIS ITEM SHALL BE TENSAR TX-1600 OR AN APPROVED EQUAL. 24. SUBCONTRACTOR SUPERVISION THE CONTRACTOR IS REQUIRED TO HAVE SOMEONE ON-SITE TO SUPERVISE THE SUBCONTRACTOR FOR QUALITY CONTROL PURPOSES AND TO PROVIDE ANY NECESSARY ASSISTANCE TO THE SUBCONTRACTOR TO ENSURE QUALITY CONTROL. 25. DEWATERING ANY NECESSARY DEWATERING OR PUMPING NECESSARY FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF ANY ITEMS SHALL BE INCIDENTAL TO THOSE PARTICULAR CONSTRUCTION ITEMS. 26. MUD THE TRACKING OR SPILLAGE OF MUD, DIRT, OR DEBRIS UPON THE STREETS IS PROHIBITED AND ANY SUCH OCCURRENCE SHALL BE CLEANED UP IMMEDIATELY BY THE CONTRACTOR. 27. SAFETY THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE SOLELY RESPONSIBLE FOR COMPLYING WITH ALL FEDERAL, STATE AND LOCAL SAFETY REQUIREMENTS TOGETHER WITH EXERCISING PRECAUTIONS AT ALL TIMES FOR THE PROTECTION OF PERSONS (INCLUDING EMPLOYEES) AND PROPERTY. WATER MAINS SHALL HAVE 4'-6" MINIMUM COVER AND A MINIMUM HORIZONTAL SEPARATION OF 10' FROM SANITARY SEWERS WHEN LAID PARALLEL TO THEM. 30. WATER LINES CROSSING ANY AND ALL SEWERS SHALL HAVE A MINIMUM VERTICAL SEPARATION OF 18" BETWEEN THE OUTSIDES OF THE WATER MAIN PIPE AND THE SEWER PIPE. ONE FULL LENGTH OF WATER MAIN PIPE SHALL BE CENTERED AT THE POINT OF CROSSING SUCH THAT BOTH JOINTS WILL BE EQUIDISTANT AND AS FAR FROM THE SEWER AS POSSIBLE. IF THE WATER LINE CROSSES BELOW THE SANITARY SEWER, THE SEWER MUST BE CONSTRUCTED OF WATER MAIN MATERIAL FOR A DISTANCE OF 10' EACH SIDE OF THE CROSSING. 31.
