scoring criteria
for AWS
Next-gen MSP
Audit?
Amazon Web Services (AWS) Audit Checklist
provides the criteria necessary for an APN Partner to
achieve the MSP designation and describes AWS’
view of the capabilities a “next generation managed
service provider” should have to support customers
through all phases of the customer engagement
lifecycle: plan/design, build/migrate, run, and
optimize.
The requirements that MSPs need to fulfill to earn
the badge of AWS Next-gen MSP are spread across
13 different categories. To assess the capabilities of
an MSP, AWS introduced a scoring system with a
criteria of minimum score that must be fulfilled.
Scoring Criteria
The scoring system is an essential piece of the APN
Partner’s self-assessment and the Full Audit. Scoring
allows an objective and quantifiable means to assess
the APN Partner’s capabilities and provides clarity
and consistency in expectations. The maximum
possible score is 1,000 points, with 900 points or
greater being required to successfully attain MSP
Program validation.

In the Checklist, there are two scoring related
columns:
• The first column has a point value that is either
neutral (zero) or negative. The negative scores will be
subtracted from the overall score for each section.
• The second column has a point value that is either
positive or neutral (zero.) These points will be added
to determine the overall score for each section.

It is highly recommended APN Partners have
completed Self-Assessment before submitting to the
MSP Program team. The purpose of this is to ensure
your AWS team is engaged and working with you to
provide recommendations prior to the audit and to
help ensure a positive audit experience.
