combined in such a way as to produce beauty
form, harmony, and expression of emotion.
11. 3. SOUND RECORDING – Recording of an interview,
meeting or any sound from the environment.
4. SOUND CLIPS/EFFECTS – Any sound artificially
reproduced to create an effect in a dramatic
presentation (ex. sound of a storm, or a door).
12. 5. AUDIO PODCAST – A digital audio or video file or
recording, usually part of a timed series, that can
be downloaded from website to a media player or a
computer.
16. 3. - AN EXTERNAL

20. AUDIO FILE FORMATS
1. - A COMMON
FORMAT FOR CONSUMER AUDIO, AS WELL AS A STANDARD OR
DIGITAL AUDIO COMPRESSION FOR THE TRANSFER AND
PLAYBACK OF MUSIC ON MOST DIGITAL AUDIO PLAYERS.
21. 2.
- AN AUDIO CODING STANDARD FOR LOSSY
DIGITAL AUDIO COMPRESSION. DESIGNED TO BE THE
SUCCESSOR OF THE MP3 FORMAT, AAC GENERALLY
ACHIEVES BETTER SOUND QUALITY THAN MP3 AT
SIMILAR BIT RATE.
22. 3. IS A MICROSOFT AUDIO FILE FORMAT
STANDARD FOR STORING AN AUDIO BIT STREAM ON PCS.
IT HAS BECOME A STANDARD FILE FORMAT FOR GAME
SOUNDS, AMONG OTHERS.
23. 4. WMA (WINDOWS MEDIA AUDIO) – IS AN
AUDIO DATA COMPRESSION TECHNOLOGY
DEVELOPED BY MICROSOFT AND USED WITH
WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER.
43. – HOW YOU GET FROM ONE
SEGMENT OR ELEMENT TO ANOTHER TYPE.
44. TYPES OF TRANSITIONS
– ONE ELEMENT STOPS, THE NEXT BEGINS (“CUT” IN
FILM).
– ONE ELEMENT FADES OUT, THE NEXT FADES
IN, AND THEY OVERLAP ON THE WAY.
45. – FIRST ELEMENT FADES TO INAUDIBLE BEFORE
THE SECOND ELEMENT BEGINS
(VFADE) WITH SOME SILENCE
BETWEEN ELEMENTS EFFECT
49. LISTENING - SOMEHOW IS CONSCIOUSLY
THING TO DO. REQUIRES CONCENTRATION SO
THAT YOUR BRAIN PROCESSES MEANING
FROM WORDS AND SENTENCES. LISTENING
LEADS TO LEARNING.

Editor's Notes
Visual Media – means all the things used in the process of learning-watching, entertaining that can be enjoyed through the eye senses.
“I was more focus on the film without audio” – audio is a channel of communication, it is important to ensure the key message and intention are consistent across the different media you will use
“it was boring”- we are not used to singular media anymore. A good example of convergence of media. Audio is a powerful tool to set the mood and convey emotion that visual cant.

may refer to analog tape cassettes and digital cd's, computer files containing audio, in any number of digital formats
Note: for radio broadcast sample- you may use phone radio to let them hear, or download radio broadcast in mp3juices.cc
live or recorded audio sent through radio waves to reach a wide audience
1. RADIO BROADCAST - is transmission of audio (sometimes with related metadata) by radio waves intended to reach a wide audience. Stations can be linked in radio networks to broadcast a common radio format, either in broadcast syndication or simulcast or both. Signals can be either analog audio or digital audio. Television broadcasting also uses radio frequencies, but includes video signals.
2. MUSIC- Music is an art form and cultural activity whose medium is sound organized in time. General definitions of music include common elements such as pitch (which governs melody and harmony), rhythm (and its associated concepts tempo, meter, and articulation), dynamics (loudness and softness), and the sonic qualities of timbre and texture (which are sometimes termed the "color" of a musical sound). Note: play any trending short clip like BOOM-MomoLand
3. Sound Recording - is the storage of sound so that a person can hear the same sound more than once. It is a process wherein sound waves are captured by a machine. The machine converts the waves into electrical signals or digital data, that are then stored on recording media (such as gramophone records, cassette tapes, compact discs or computer hard drives). The sound can then be played back by reversing the process.
4. SOUND CLIPS/EFFECTS - A file that contains a short audio item, usually an excerpt from a longer recording.
A podcast is an episodic series of digital audio files that a user can download in order to listen. Alternatively, the word "podcast" may refer to the individual component of such a series or to an individual media file
lossy compression or irreversible compression is the class of data encoding methods that uses inexact approximations and partial data discarding to represent the content. These techniques are used to reduce data size for storing, handling, and transmitting content.
bitstream is more narrowly defined as a method of transferring encoded audio signals of specific surround sound formats from a source to a compatible home theater receiver or AV preamp/processor/Power amplifier combination.
The decibel is a unit of measurement used to express the ratio of one value of a power or field quantity to another, on a logarithmic scale, the logarithmic quantity being called the power level or field level, respectively. It can be used to express a change in value or an absolute value.
a unit for measuring the number of cycles that happen every second, used especially in electronics
a unit of loudness that measures the intensity of a sound by the number of decibels it is above a reference tone having a frequency of 1000 hertz
the volume is the perception of loudness from the intensity of a sound wave. The higher the intensity of a sound, the louder it is perceived in our ears, and the higher volume it has.
Tone, in acoustics, sound that can be recognized by its regularity of vibration. A simple tone has only one frequency, although its intensity may vary. A complex tone consists of two or more simple tones, called overtones. The tone of lowest frequency is called the fundamental; the others, overtones.
Pitch is a perceptual property of sounds that allows their ordering on a frequency-related scale, or more commonly, pitch is the quality that makes it possible to judge sounds as "higher" and "lower" in the sense associated with musical melodies.
Loudness refers to how loud or soft a sound seems to a listener. The loudness of sound is determined, in turn, by the intensity, or amount of energy, in sound waves.
Sound design It is employed in a variety of disciplines including filmmaking, television production, theatre, sound recording and reproduction, live performance, sound art, post-production and video game software development.
pace is equivalent to tempo. While a listener may well have a good awareness of absolute tempo, there is a strong subjective element in the perception of the speed at which a musical work is performed.
Audio mixing is the process by which multiple sounds are combined into one or more channels. In the process, a source's volume level, frequency content, dynamics, and panoramic position are manipulated or enhanced. This practical, aesthetic, or otherwise creative treatment is done in order to produce a finished version that is appealing to listeners.
Audio mixing is practiced for music, film, television and live sound. The process is generally carried out by a mixing engineer operating a mixing console or digital audio workstation.
A transition is a passage of music composed to link one section of music to another. Transitions often function as a moment of transformation and may, or may not in themselves, introduce new, musical material.
a segue is smooth transition from one scene or topic to another. A segue allows the director or show host to naturally proceed from one scene or topic to another without jarring the audience.
Crossfading is a phenomenon through which a smooth transition is created between two sounds. This audio effect often finds its applications in audio engineering wherein crossfading is used to blend two or more sounds in the same song smoothly, without doing it abruptly.
To adjust the volume of sound from low to high or high to low at a gradual pace. Fade to black/Fade away (v) — To decrease the volume of a sound until it is inaudible — while still in the clear

Hearing is the act of perceiving sound and receiving sound waves or vibrations through your ear.
Listening is the act of hearing a sound and understanding what you hear.
Listening is receiving language through the ears. Listening involves identifying the sounds of speech and processing them into words and sentences. When we listen, we use our ears to receive individual sounds (letters, stress, rhythm and pauses) and we use our brain to convert these into messages that mean something to us.
