3. Technological Advances in Airports
In the following essay will talk about the great technological avancez that
are emerging in our time, such as the Green Airport which main objective is
to reduce the emission of greenhouse gases and become a neutral facility
in carbon emissions, other equally important issue is the Cascade Project
which seeks a 20% reduction in the energy costs and carbon emissions
through this project.
Well, first we talk about the Green Airport which makes responsible use of
natural resources for its operation, in addition to reducing energy Consumer
goods and makes use of renewable energy to minimize the emición of
greenhouse gases and ordering of good way to waste.
The company Aena (ENAIRE is the public entity in charge of civil air
navigation and civil airports in Spain general interest of the state.) is starting
this project In which will develop several projects in order to reduce energy
and carbon dioxide emissions, Aena is exploring various technological
advances that improve energy efficiency to reduce energy consumption
and promote energy production from renewable sources, after evaluating
these technologies will be impossible to deny that these operations
guarantee operability and airport security.
Improvement actions posed for this Green Airport and thus reduce by 20%
the carbon dioxide emotions can be divided into two: aircraft and
passengers.
Aircraft, is the renewal of mobile ground handling equipment, facilities visual
approach indicators (PAPI) more efficient than allow a saving of between 21
and 48%, reducing the time and distance of aircraft taxiing to and from the
gates using a single engine on those routes for fuel, LED devices facilities in
aeronautical ground lights using its high performance and low cost of
maintenance.
Now, the actions to take on passengers are: efficient climate control and
lighting. With installations of solar panels, wind turbines and geothermal
HVAC systems, using LED luminaires and replacement lamps low
consumption and high efficiency, encouraging the use of spaces that allow
more natural light, Advanced Systems parking management, sensors and
forming signaling lights in order to achieve greater energy savings and
reduced noise and pollution.
4. Now I speak of Cascade project which I think is a great project which much
is expected, this project is being developed by different researchers from
European countries, it is a software or system with sensors that achieves a
reduction of 20 % in energy costs and the carbon emiciones by integrating
detection and fault diagnosis.
This system will allow a saving of up to 6000 megawatts / hour this leads to a
saving of 840,000 euros per year. The system basically consists of
implementing detection and diagnosis of faults, such as malfunctioning fans,
heating and cooling or control errors, this through a computer program that
analyzes data sent by sensors in the case of detect faults, failure to report
maintenance teams to fix the problem.
In conclusion I can say that although they are very different projects, both
are aimed to help the environment and clearly the economy, and I think this
project Cascade fit perfectly in the green airport as I said before both seek
to help the environment ambient.
