2. Partnerships | Carers UK
Why does caring matter to your
business?
At Carers UK, we work for a society which respects,
values and supports carers. To achieve this we need
businesses like yours on board. After all three million
people in the UK are currently juggling working and
caring. One in nine employees in your workplace could
be carers.
Over the next two decades, the number of carers in the
UK is expected to grow to 9 million.
As this happens, organisations will need to adapt to
recognise and support staff who are also carers,
making it possible for them to stay in work.
How will you support your caring workforce?
Hugh - workplace champion
Hugh works for a company which belongs to our Employers for Carers business forum, he set
up a Carers Network in his workplace: “When people first reach out they often think they’re the
only ones going through it, but we’ve all been there, and we know what a difference it makes
when you can talk about it to people who understand.”
My dad’s
illness was
debilitating
(for my career)
Or showing your employees who
are caring the Carers UK Forum, a
supportive community, where talking
to other carers can be a great sense of
support.
Recognising carers in your workforce and asking them to be a Carers
UK Workplace Champion can make life better for all the carers you
employ.
These volunteers can be the vital link between in-work carers and the
information, advice and support we have at Carers UK.
Looking out for your employees who
are caring could mean pointing them in
the right direction of Carers UK’s online
information and our adviceline.
