It is with great pleasure that I write this letter of recommendation on behalf of Candice
Gresham, for her selection as one of your HBCUI Program interns. Ms. Gresham is an
outstanding and dynamic young lady who is currently enrolled here at the Historic
Tuskegee University. "In my role as a USDA: United States Department of Agriculture’s
1890’s Program Liaison, I have had the great fortune of working with Ms. Gresham in my
office as her supervisor. I have had the opportunity to observe her over the past 3 years
and I have watched her grow into a very capable young woman. She possesses the
necessary level of maturity, the “Can Do” attitude, and her willingness to acquire the
knowledge she needs to grow and excel, speaks to her commitment and desire to succeed.
It is my professional opinion that Ms. Gresham has always been very efficient in our
USDA office setting. She possesses strong interpersonal skills, a solid work ethic, has
strong organizational skills, demonstrates that she has good computer and data entry
skills, and she communicates effectively orally and in writing, very well.
This past summer, Ms. Gresham proved herself to be an outstanding candidate and was
selected to be an intern at the Iowa State University’s prestigious GWC- George
Washington Carver Internship Program. There she was involved in research projects that
gave her hands on experiences outdoors, in natural resource and environmental science
fields, as well as inside of research laboratories. It proved to be a great experience for her.
Ms. Gresham is a Natural Resource Management major, and is minoring in history. She is
an honor roll student, very involved in campus organizations, community service projects
and an overall well-rounded college student. She embodies those positive character traits
that have been well cultivated. She exemplifies the confidence to perform well at
whatever task she sets her mind to do. She speaks and writes well and loves people.
I hope that you will give Candice Gresham your most serious consideration. I firmly
believe that she represents a true Tuskegean. I would like to make a strong
recommendation and say that Candice Gresham is an outstanding candidate, In my
opinion Ms. Gresham would definitely make and excellent selection, if chosen as one of
your HBCUI Program interns.
