Long Term Healthcare summary

1. I was consistently recognized as a veteran serving long-term care veterans for 15 years and
providing exceptional customer service within the Veterans Health Administration (VHA). Upon
retiring from VHA after 31years of Federal service, and having California licenses as a
Respiratory Care Practitioner and Vocational Nurse, I returned to California to pursue my
passion in the long-term health care industry as a consultant.
I received my California licenses as a Nursing Home Administrator and Residential Care for the
Elderly Administrator in 2013. In 2015, I completed intensive training in Alzheimer’s disease and
Dementia Care. On December 10, 2015, I became a Certified Dementia Practitioner with the
National Council of Certified Dementia Practitioners.
From my VHA career, I also excelled in the following skills: 1) financial management in long-term
care by assessing the need for healthcare services, performing comparison studies, evaluating
procedures, developing action plans, and projecting expected outcomes; and 2) Improving access
to care through community involvement and establishing community-based outpatient clinics.
To update my financial management skills, I enrolled in a Saturday ten course certificate
program at the West Los Angeles Community College in Medical Insurance Billing & Coding. I
have completed more than half of the courses in the program, which includes courses in ICD 9
& 10. The program will be completed in March 2016.
