7. T H E L A S I K P R O C E D U R E
Many people are surprised when they learn that the LASIK
procedure typically takes less than 15 minutes to perform!
Before your surgery, your eyes will be numbed with anesthetic
drops and you will be given medication to help you relax. Your
surgeon will walk you through each step so there are no
surprises as they safely create a thin corneal flap using the
Ziemer Z4 Femtosecond Laser.
Next, your surgeon will gently reshape your cornea using the
state-of-the-art Alcon WaveLight® EX500 Excimer Laser.
The actual laser time averages around one minute per eye.
After your eyes have been treated, the corneal flap is laid back
into place.

8. Most patients do not need to
take any pain medications after
surgery and can resume their
normal activities the next day.
Your vision will likely fluctuate
for the first few days, and you
may experience dry eyes or
notice a halo around lights.
These side effects are usually
temporary and disappear
within two weeks.
