5. For scaling purposes, the size of the mask is
6 inches along the X-axis and 3.75 inches along the Y-axis.
If you are working with a bed size similar to the one I
was using (6x6 inches) it is important to rotate the
OBJ 45 degrees as seen in the image. This will allow you
to print within the constraints of the bed size.
Frame Print Specifics
Time Estimate: 1 hour 57 minuetes
7. Place weighted objects on
both sides of frame
Weighing down the mask frame on both sides
not only holds it down while applying heat,
but also avoids any unwanted contact on the hand
if you were to hold it down.
8. Apply heat to frame
It will take about 30 - 45 seconds for the
PLA to become maluable. When the mask
begins to flex and move around that is when it is ready.
When ready, it is important to note that the
frame will be warm to the touch.
9. Form the heated frame to face
The heated mask will have the tactile nature of
a wet noodle. Gingerly remove the objects weighing
down the frame. Rest the frame in both palms
and conform the frame to the unique profiles of your
face. To avoid any injury wear a cloth or a mask over your
face during the forming process.
17. APPLY FRAME
The finished mask frame will allow you a more
efficient seal for the generic mask.
The goal of the design is to provide a
safer lifestyle for everyone.
