2. Meet Lieutenant Dan:
He was rescued from Syria
where he was abused and
lost both of his back legs.

3. He is now healthy and living safely
in Canada. Although he has a
problem; when he walks or runs,
his bum drops and hits the ground
so he has developed sores. He
tried a doggie wheelchair but he
didn’t like it.

4. Lt. Dan’s rescuer wanted a way to
protect his bottom so that he
would not get any more sores.
We worked together to come up
with a way to cover up his bottom
so that when he hit the ground,
he was protected. But we still
needed to let him do dog things
like roll in the grass and go to the
bathroom.

5. We took a cast of Lt. Dan’s
back end so that we had the
exact shape of his hips and
lower torso. From that cast we
made a plastic “bucket” with
soft foam inside that he sits in.
There are cut outs for him to
go to the bathroom but the
boney parts that rub on the
ground are protected.

6. Now Lt. Dan can run around
and play with his buddies
without hurting himself.

people, we love to look
after our furry friends too!
