According USDA (United States Department of Agriculture)
Brazil:
- 2008: 3rd
largest exporter of food.
- 2011: 2nd
largest exporter of foods.
- 2022: the world’s largest food exporter, with Soybean being the main
product.
Reasons:
- Soil fertility.
- Abundance of fresh water and regularity of rainfall,
which is monitored by satellite.
- Brazilian factories of modern agricultural equipment.
- Skilled workers.
- The increasing use of fertilizers (of which 90% are and
will continue to be imported.

11. BRAZIL IN 2022 (continuation)
- In 2022, Brazil will be the world’ largest fertilizers
importer, because the country doesn’t have large
sources of raw material to produce fertilizers.
-Brazil has the world’s largest inventory of arable land
(as per map below).

12. FERTILIZERS: A VERY HUGE OPPORTUNITY IN BRAZIL
Brazil is currently the fourth consumer of nutrients for fertilizer formulation (2014
data), representing 7% of world consumption, being preceded by China with 29%,
India 17% and the United States with 12%.
Fertilizer consumption in Brazil is concentrated in four main crops: soybeans,
corn, sugar cane and coffee. In 2014, these crops accounted for approximately
70% of the total fertilizers consumed in the country
By incorporating the available arable land in the country and go progressively
consolidating and taking global leadership in food production, position to be
reached by 2022, fertilizer consumption in Brazil will continue to grow. As
domestic production is insufficient, the need for fertilizer imports also will be
increasing and by 2022 Brazil will be the largest fertilizer consumer and importer
market in the world.
