2. Why the JAS could be useful [1]
• The JAS will be a useful tool for influencing
development of national adaptation frameworks
– National Adaptation Plan (NAP)
– Review of the National Adaptation Programmes of
Action (NAPA)
• The JAS will be a useful tool for influencing
development adaptation related institutional
structures
• National Implementing Entity
3. Why the JAS could be useful [2]
• The JAS will be useful in defining/having a
common understanding on what adaptation
entails in practice
• The JAS will help to guide adaptation action
through stimulating development and
application of replicable tools
4. How CISONECC Developed Inputs into JAS [1]
1st
Step:
• A Regional Workshop for East and Southern Africa on ‘Linking
local experiences with policy processes’ was held for which
some of the outcomes were:
– A brainstorm of potential roles for civil society in relation
to NAPs (15 points)
– Recommendations on what can constitute good climate
policies (10 points)
2nd Step:
• Sensitization of CISONECC members on the design of Phase 3
(focusing on JAS)
– Done in the network’s strategy review workshop
5. 3rd
Step:
• Brainstorming session on ‘standards’
– Drawing from:
• The regional workshop brainstorm; and
• Lessons from a Participatory Scenario Planning Training
Step 4:
• Shared the draft inputs with targeted government
personnel
• Further engagement with government yet to take place
• Participants noted the need to get inputs from government
