IFC launches $2.5 blnrupee-denominated bonds for infra projects in India •The World Bank's private-sector arm on Wednesday launched $2.5 billion, rupee-denominated bonds to fund infrastructure investments in India, the International Finance Corporation (IFC) said in a statement. •Under the programme, IFC will use a combination of rupee- denominated bonds and swaps to raise local-currency financing of up to $2.5 billion, or 150 billion rupees, over the next five years," the statement said. Dena Bank admits fraud at Malabar Hill branch; suspends manager • Dena Bank on Wednesday said it has suspended an “erring branch manager” at its Malabar Hill branch in Mumbai and has transferred some staff for conducting irregularities in the handling of fixed deposits. The bank admitted that some of its branch level employees committed financial fraud by creating fake overdraft facilities. •The bank has lodged a complaint with the central bureau of investigation in this regard, it said in a communication to exchanges. •According to the communique, the Malabar Hill Branch of the Bank received bulk term deposits from various entities and government organizations between January 30, 2014 and May 05, 2014. •“Subsequently, term deposits amounting to Rs 256.69 crorewere pledged to the bank by the same signatories to obtain overdraft facilities of Rs 223.25 crore. The funds were surreptitiously transferred out of the Bank by creating fake overdraft facility, resulting in a fraud on the Bank and the concerned entities/Government organizations,” the communication said. - 18. MUDGALCOMMITTEE TO DECIDE ON EXTENSION AUG 27 The MukulMudgalcommittee Wednesday rubbished media reports of its members interrogating International Cricket Council (ICC) chairman N. Srinivasanand his son-in-lawGurunathMeiyappaninChennaiand said it will meet Aug 27 to decide whether to seek more time from the SupremeCourtto submit its report on the spot fixing and betting scandal that hit the 2013 IndianPremierLeague (IPL). The Supreme Court, while setting up the committee in May, had asked the panel to submit its findings by the end of August. Justice (retd.) Mudgaltold IANS that the committee would decide next week if it needs more time to file the report. "We will meet Aug 27 to decide whether we need more time. Accordingly, we would seek an extension from the Supreme Court to submit the report," Mudgalsaid, adding that the committee has no intention to interrogate any Indian cricketer in England since it may disturb the struggling team's concentration.
