Observational Study Essay
Observational studies benefit us by providing essential evidence about our health and the best way to improve it. One way researchers do this, is by
using personal information for the public good. In order to do it the correct way they must meet be high in ethical guidelines. The National Ethics
Advisory Committee has listed the ethical guidelines as "respect for people, justice, fairness, and integrity" ("Code of Rights") as the common ethic
guidelines that every investigator should follow when performing an observational study. Considering that my project falls under the discipline of
Natural Science studies, these concept are important for my research because it helps the investigator follow ethical guidelines throughout the
observational studies. According to the National Ethics Advisory Committee, these guidelines are intended to facilitate high–quality studies, protect the
interests of participants and underpin public assurance of good study conduct. (the Guidelines). In order to ensure these studies to be equal and fair the
researcher has to be trained the correct way by following ethical guidelines. The guidelines emphasis the importance of ensuring confidentiality and
equality which means to protect the safety of the respondent and as well for the investigators in order to improve people's well being. Ensuring...show

Equality is very important in an observational study because the researcher won't have any preference over the study. One way to ensure equality is
by starting off and treating everyone fairly and ensuring equal access to opportunities. I will also ensure policies, procedures and processes that won't
discriminate the person being study. For example, if a patients is being treated with Antiretroviral therapy, I will ensure for them to be aware of the
polices, procedure, and process they will have to go through as anyone else who is taking the

Theater Observation Essay
All my life I have enjoyed the art of theater, so when my assignment was to watch a show I was excited. My friend Sigrid was doing a production in
the theater of the Florida International University that was a mixed medium show. Not only was it a play but it was also a dance and concert all at
the same time. Not technically a musical but it did have each element one at a time. The show was called A Sea Challenge, A Response to Global
Threat. The show dealt with real life events happening to our planet as we speak. It started with a demonstration of how the earth was hundreds of
years ago, with all of the animals happy and living their lives. It progressed and they showed the time fast forwarding to when cars were invented and
then airplanes,...show more content...
I felt so bad, she must have been so nervous. I can honestly say this play made me feel helpless as a human being, as they transitioned into showing
what us humans have done to our planet and how it not only effects us but our animals, nature and future children, it hit close to home. I've always
loved our planet and all of its animals, I was vegetarian for six years and proud and always spreading the word of recycling and love for our home. I
know how some people are and they really do not care about any of it and it's so sad. The play really made me feel for our planet and encouraged me
to really make a change and spread the word. One scene mentioned a careless human saying "The planet still has years before it really diminishes,
why should I care if I'm not going to be alive by then?" After every scene there would be a dance number between two girls and above us in the
actual theater would be actual singers making harmonies acapella and that's what the dancers would dance to. To be honest I thought I was listening to
a track, I only realized that they were singing when I turned around! They were amazing and I was so

Family Observation Essay
Context of Observation
With her mother's permission, I observed my cousin's 33–month–old female daughter named Clara. This observation occurred at my grandparents'
house, who are Clara's great–grandparents. My grandma frequently babysits Clara and her older and younger sisters, so she is familiar with the
house. It was Thanksgiving when I did the observation with Clara, so she was surrounded by a combination of familiar faces as well as people that
she infrequently sees. For example, I only see her during major holidays due to the fact I now live out of state, and while she has interacted with me, I
am more or less a stranger to her due to the infrequent nature of our interactions. All of the Oswald family members came to Thanksgiving this year, so
my grandparents small house was packed with many people. Additionally, it was constantly noisy in the small house, with lots of different activities
occurring throughout the day.
Observations
Attachment
To begin with, one of the most interesting things I observed with Clara is how clearly her behavior demonstrated a secure attachment with her parents.
While my grandmother's home was a familiar place to Clara, adding so many family members, and family members she did not know, made the
situation somewhat unfamiliar with her. It was interesting to see how she interacted with myself, my mother, and my fiancГ©, all of us whom do not
have much interaction with Clara, at the beginning of Thanksgiving. When we tried to interact with her, she would stare suspiciously at us, and then
run to her parents or grandmother. When we tried to interact with her in her "secure base", she would bury her head into the shoulder of whoever was
holding her.
Eventually, the cycle of going back to the secure base and exploring got bigger and bigger. As she, I assume, continued to get confirmation that the
unfamiliar situation was safe, and her secure base was there to protect her, she would feel more comfortable venturing out, exploring the house more,
and interacting with unfamiliar faces. She would check in with her parents, grandparents, or aunts by sitting on their lap for a little while, but as the
night went on, the duration between these check–ins became longer, and they also became

Naturalistic Observation Essay
Naturalistic Observation In order to study human development and perform naturalistic observation I went to the mall. I selected a 9–year–old white
girl as the subject for my observation. I observed the subject for 30 minutes. During my observation the subject was not interrupted and was not aware
of my study. The girl was spending time with her mother and brother at the mall. She was enjoying herself. She played some games with her brother.
The games included jumping and running. During one of the games the girl had a short conversation with her brother. After that the girl started
drawing pictures in her notebook. Mother of the subject had a very satisfied expression on her face...show more content...
During my observation the girl demonstrated that she was able to work in a team with her brother. She was friendly and well socialized. According to
Erikson's stages of social and emotional development this kind of behavior means that the girl was on the 'school age' stage. It is absolutely normal to
be on this stage of social and emotional development at the age of 9. After my observation I came to the conclusion that the subject meets the
milestones and stages for the physical, cognitive, social, and emotional development. Judging from the drawing that the girl made we can assume that
the girl is gifted. According to my naturalistic observation there is nothing unusual in the development of the girl. According to her age she is
absolutely adequate. The observation was a very interesting and informative process. It gave me the opportunity to apply different theories of
development. The biggest advantage of this psychological method is the opportunity to observe the subject in the natural surrounding and watch his
natural behavior. To sum up, during my naturalistic observation I applied Piaget's theory of cognitive development and Erikson's theory of emotional
and social development. Both of these theories gave me the opportunity to understand the subject better. According to my observation, all physical
skills of the girl were developed properly. After analysis I came to the conclusion that the subject is on the

Art Observation Essay
My desired career is to teach elementary school with an art–focused curriculum. Therefor my observation was done at an elementary school. The art
lesson was planned for mid–day so when I arrived the students were already in the room. When I got there, I walked into the room and headed
straight to a table at the back of the room. The table sat surrounded by bookshelves that were set up in a wide U shape that wrapped around the
table. While I sitting I noticed the table had six chairs and the shelves were full of learning activity materials and other items that would lead one to
believe the table was there for group activities and learning. There where top and bottom cupboards along the right wall with a counter with a
student filing system. Along the left there were bottom cupboards with a fish tank on the counter. That was also lined with windows for allowing
natural lighting in the room. In the from left corner the teachers desk sat at an angle to face the center of the class. The student's desks were pushed
together in four tables of four, and one table of five. The tables were all angled and staggered in a way that every student could see the front of the
room. It was a great set up to create an interactive atmosphere among the students. Mrs. T and her students were just wrapping up their math lesson for
the day when I snuck into the back. To transition from math to art the students were told they were they had two minutes to file their math folders and

Observational Learning
Observational learning is when learning happens by observing other people's actions. Observational learning involves cognitive processes such as
attention, motor skills, motivation, and memory. For observational learning to take place the person who is observing the behavior needs to be paying
attention to it in order to learn it. Another important part of observational learning is being able to remember the behavior that you saw, so you can
repeat it. As well as being able to remember the behavior the person also needs to be able to perform the behavior for observational learning to occur.
Motivation plays a role in observational learning because you have to want to do the action for a reason. All these things are important in...show more

The examples from my life are just a very small bit of the different ways observational learning can be used. There are four important parts to
observational learning, attention, memory, motor skills, and motivation. Without one of those important parts, observational learning is unlikely to be
successful. The most basic things people do, are learned through observational research. Observational learning is an important part of everyone's

Self Observation Essay
Mike Zimmerman
Intro to Psyc 1010 Self Observation Paper
I observed my study habits for п¬Ѓve days for my self observation. I was interest in this subject because school is very important to me, and I wanted
to see how much I actually do study, and possibly increase it. My research was pretty easy to do, and in the following report I wanted to explain the
process and outcome of that data. I donКјt think the К»Hawthorne effectКј affected the outcome of my data. I did not change any study habits, and
simply recorded the data after the study session was complete. I study because of the positive reinforcement associated with achieving good grades.
Achieving good grades is a of course a secondary reinforcer, because the better grades I...show more content...

Observation Assignment Essay example
Objectives
The purpose of this observation assignment was to investigate and interpret the different types of interactions between the individuals and groups
present, as well as the environment in which these interactions take place. The various power relationships and sense of hierarchy in addition to the
status and authority among the different individuals are also extremely pertinent to this assignment, as the dissection of such interactions and
relationships may implicate certain socially constructed gender roles placed on these individuals and society as a whole. The field observation was
conducted at the restaurant Pancakes on the Rocks in Sydney. The role adopted, was that of observer as participant. Group structures and...show more

Results
The seemingly intimate couples observed were quite interesting. Instead of being seated opposite each other, most couples chose to sit next to each
other so as to be within closer proximity of one another. The couples that did sit opposite each other spent much of their time bent over or leaning
across the table so as to whisper or talk in a more secretive and intimate manner with their partner. The observed body language of these couples was
that of an inclusive "please do not bother us" attitude. Their behavior compared to the rest of the occupants in the restaurant was very subdued and
much more private. The amount of bodily contact was also much greater than in other groups of participants. Other than their initial glances around the
restaurant when they were first seated, almost none of the couples made a habit of surveying the restaurant, as were observed quite frequently with the
other members of the study. Also noted was the tendency for the females within the younger–adult relationships to take leave to the toilet almost as
soon as the couple was seated. In some cases, the male ordered the female's drink while she was still in the toilet. Almost always, no matter the age
of the couple, alcoholic beverages were preferred to order. During the meal the couples were much more inclined to share food as well, picking at each
other's food. The cases in which

Observational Assessment
The purpose of this observational assessment is to ensure my students understand what is being taught. I teach third grade math which has many new
concepts, so I need to be sure they are grasping these unfamiliar topics. By paying attention to these various measurements, I will be able to determine if
the student is comprehending the lesson. How a student answers a question asked will tell me how much they understand. Also, the types of questions
they are asking me will assist me in determining what they have mastered and what they have not. Furthermore, a student that can start and complete an
assignment on their own truly understands the new information that was taught, while a student that has difficulty getting started will need additional

Child Care and Observation Essay
Observation is very important in young children because that is how you get to know a child better. While observing how a child interacts with their
peers, adults, and how they behave in different settings, you are getting to know the child without speaking to them.
It may be important to observe a child but at the same time it may mislead you into being judgmental, too soon. For instance, if you observe a child
misbehaving, not getting along with the other children or talking back to the teacher, you might get the impression that he/she is a 'bad' child and you
might treat and act differently with that particular child.
From my personal experiences, I have to come to the conclusion that it doesn't always work the way I believe...show more content...
At the daycare, I try not to let my observations take over a situation. If I see hit Gaspar rather then jump to conclusions and scold Vincent, I talk to the
both of them and ask questions, like, ?Why did you hit him?? ?What made you so angry that you felt you had to hit him?? ?How did that make you
feel?? so on and so forth.
Observations are very important but it is not good to be judgmental when observing because you may be observing a child who in reality is a good
kid but is acting aggressively because he/she is having a bad day and you might just categorize the child wrongfully.
1. Taylor is trying to fill a bucket with water. It has a hole in the bottom. He begins to fill it and water dribbles out he gets frustrated and begins to cry
loudly.
Taylor feels helpless in this situation and is unhappy that things are not going her way. She needs to know that there are other options. The way I
would handle it is by telling her, ? Taylor, there is no need to cry, there is a hole in the bottom of the bucket and that is why the water is coming
out. I understand that you might be a little frustrated because you want to play wit the water but let?s not cry. I have a solution, why don?t we go
inside and see if we can fix it. If it is not fixable then we can go and look for another bucket so we can play with the water.

Observational Study Essay

  • 1. Observational Study Essay Observational studies benefit us by providing essential evidence about our health and the best way to improve it. One way researchers do this, is by using personal information for the public good. In order to do it the correct way they must meet be high in ethical guidelines. The National Ethics Advisory Committee has listed the ethical guidelines as "respect for people, justice, fairness, and integrity" ("Code of Rights") as the common ethic guidelines that every investigator should follow when performing an observational study. Considering that my project falls under the discipline of Natural Science studies, these concept are important for my research because it helps the investigator follow ethical guidelines throughout the observational studies. According to the National Ethics Advisory Committee, these guidelines are intended to facilitate high–quality studies, protect the interests of participants and underpin public assurance of good study conduct. (the Guidelines). In order to ensure these studies to be equal and fair the researcher has to be trained the correct way by following ethical guidelines. The guidelines emphasis the importance of ensuring confidentiality and equality which means to protect the safety of the respondent and as well for the investigators in order to improve people's well being. Ensuring...show more content... Equality is very important in an observational study because the researcher won't have any preference over the study. One way to ensure equality is by starting off and treating everyone fairly and ensuring equal access to opportunities. I will also ensure policies, procedures and processes that won't discriminate the person being study. For example, if a patients is being treated with Antiretroviral therapy, I will ensure for them to be aware of the polices, procedure, and process they will have to go through as anyone else who is taking the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Theater Observation Essay All my life I have enjoyed the art of theater, so when my assignment was to watch a show I was excited. My friend Sigrid was doing a production in the theater of the Florida International University that was a mixed medium show. Not only was it a play but it was also a dance and concert all at the same time. Not technically a musical but it did have each element one at a time. The show was called A Sea Challenge, A Response to Global Threat. The show dealt with real life events happening to our planet as we speak. It started with a demonstration of how the earth was hundreds of years ago, with all of the animals happy and living their lives. It progressed and they showed the time fast forwarding to when cars were invented and then airplanes,...show more content... I felt so bad, she must have been so nervous. I can honestly say this play made me feel helpless as a human being, as they transitioned into showing what us humans have done to our planet and how it not only effects us but our animals, nature and future children, it hit close to home. I've always loved our planet and all of its animals, I was vegetarian for six years and proud and always spreading the word of recycling and love for our home. I know how some people are and they really do not care about any of it and it's so sad. The play really made me feel for our planet and encouraged me to really make a change and spread the word. One scene mentioned a careless human saying "The planet still has years before it really diminishes, why should I care if I'm not going to be alive by then?" After every scene there would be a dance number between two girls and above us in the actual theater would be actual singers making harmonies acapella and that's what the dancers would dance to. To be honest I thought I was listening to a track, I only realized that they were singing when I turned around! They were amazing and I was so Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Family Observation Essay Context of Observation With her mother's permission, I observed my cousin's 33–month–old female daughter named Clara. This observation occurred at my grandparents' house, who are Clara's great–grandparents. My grandma frequently babysits Clara and her older and younger sisters, so she is familiar with the house. It was Thanksgiving when I did the observation with Clara, so she was surrounded by a combination of familiar faces as well as people that she infrequently sees. For example, I only see her during major holidays due to the fact I now live out of state, and while she has interacted with me, I am more or less a stranger to her due to the infrequent nature of our interactions. All of the Oswald family members came to Thanksgiving this year, so my grandparents small house was packed with many people. Additionally, it was constantly noisy in the small house, with lots of different activities occurring throughout the day. Observations Attachment To begin with, one of the most interesting things I observed with Clara is how clearly her behavior demonstrated a secure attachment with her parents. While my grandmother's home was a familiar place to Clara, adding so many family members, and family members she did not know, made the situation somewhat unfamiliar with her. It was interesting to see how she interacted with myself, my mother, and my fiancГ©, all of us whom do not have much interaction with Clara, at the beginning of Thanksgiving. When we tried to interact with her, she would stare suspiciously at us, and then run to her parents or grandmother. When we tried to interact with her in her "secure base", she would bury her head into the shoulder of whoever was holding her. Eventually, the cycle of going back to the secure base and exploring got bigger and bigger. As she, I assume, continued to get confirmation that the unfamiliar situation was safe, and her secure base was there to protect her, she would feel more comfortable venturing out, exploring the house more, and interacting with unfamiliar faces. She would check in with her parents, grandparents, or aunts by sitting on their lap for a little while, but as the night went on, the duration between these check–ins became longer, and they also became Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Naturalistic Observation Essay Naturalistic Observation In order to study human development and perform naturalistic observation I went to the mall. I selected a 9–year–old white girl as the subject for my observation. I observed the subject for 30 minutes. During my observation the subject was not interrupted and was not aware of my study. The girl was spending time with her mother and brother at the mall. She was enjoying herself. She played some games with her brother. The games included jumping and running. During one of the games the girl had a short conversation with her brother. After that the girl started drawing pictures in her notebook. Mother of the subject had a very satisfied expression on her face...show more content... During my observation the girl demonstrated that she was able to work in a team with her brother. She was friendly and well socialized. According to Erikson's stages of social and emotional development this kind of behavior means that the girl was on the 'school age' stage. It is absolutely normal to be on this stage of social and emotional development at the age of 9. After my observation I came to the conclusion that the subject meets the milestones and stages for the physical, cognitive, social, and emotional development. Judging from the drawing that the girl made we can assume that the girl is gifted. According to my naturalistic observation there is nothing unusual in the development of the girl. According to her age she is absolutely adequate. The observation was a very interesting and informative process. It gave me the opportunity to apply different theories of development. The biggest advantage of this psychological method is the opportunity to observe the subject in the natural surrounding and watch his natural behavior. To sum up, during my naturalistic observation I applied Piaget's theory of cognitive development and Erikson's theory of emotional and social development. Both of these theories gave me the opportunity to understand the subject better. According to my observation, all physical skills of the girl were developed properly. After analysis I came to the conclusion that the subject is on the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Art Observation Essay My desired career is to teach elementary school with an art–focused curriculum. Therefor my observation was done at an elementary school. The art lesson was planned for mid–day so when I arrived the students were already in the room. When I got there, I walked into the room and headed straight to a table at the back of the room. The table sat surrounded by bookshelves that were set up in a wide U shape that wrapped around the table. While I sitting I noticed the table had six chairs and the shelves were full of learning activity materials and other items that would lead one to believe the table was there for group activities and learning. There where top and bottom cupboards along the right wall with a counter with a student filing system. Along the left there were bottom cupboards with a fish tank on the counter. That was also lined with windows for allowing natural lighting in the room. In the from left corner the teachers desk sat at an angle to face the center of the class. The student's desks were pushed together in four tables of four, and one table of five. The tables were all angled and staggered in a way that every student could see the front of the room. It was a great set up to create an interactive atmosphere among the students. Mrs. T and her students were just wrapping up their math lesson for the day when I snuck into the back. To transition from math to art the students were told they were they had two minutes to file their math folders and get Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Observational Learning Observational learning is when learning happens by observing other people's actions. Observational learning involves cognitive processes such as attention, motor skills, motivation, and memory. For observational learning to take place the person who is observing the behavior needs to be paying attention to it in order to learn it. Another important part of observational learning is being able to remember the behavior that you saw, so you can repeat it. As well as being able to remember the behavior the person also needs to be able to perform the behavior for observational learning to occur. Motivation plays a role in observational learning because you have to want to do the action for a reason. All these things are important in...show more content... The examples from my life are just a very small bit of the different ways observational learning can be used. There are four important parts to observational learning, attention, memory, motor skills, and motivation. Without one of those important parts, observational learning is unlikely to be successful. The most basic things people do, are learned through observational research. Observational learning is an important part of everyone's Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. Self Observation Essay Mike Zimmerman Intro to Psyc 1010 Self Observation Paper I observed my study habits for п¬Ѓve days for my self observation. I was interest in this subject because school is very important to me, and I wanted to see how much I actually do study, and possibly increase it. My research was pretty easy to do, and in the following report I wanted to explain the process and outcome of that data. I donКјt think the К»Hawthorne effectКј affected the outcome of my data. I did not change any study habits, and simply recorded the data after the study session was complete. I study because of the positive reinforcement associated with achieving good grades. Achieving good grades is a of course a secondary reinforcer, because the better grades I...show more content... • 9. Observation Assignment Essay example Objectives The purpose of this observation assignment was to investigate and interpret the different types of interactions between the individuals and groups present, as well as the environment in which these interactions take place. The various power relationships and sense of hierarchy in addition to the status and authority among the different individuals are also extremely pertinent to this assignment, as the dissection of such interactions and relationships may implicate certain socially constructed gender roles placed on these individuals and society as a whole. The field observation was conducted at the restaurant Pancakes on the Rocks in Sydney. The role adopted, was that of observer as participant. Group structures and...show more content... Results The seemingly intimate couples observed were quite interesting. Instead of being seated opposite each other, most couples chose to sit next to each other so as to be within closer proximity of one another. The couples that did sit opposite each other spent much of their time bent over or leaning across the table so as to whisper or talk in a more secretive and intimate manner with their partner. The observed body language of these couples was that of an inclusive "please do not bother us" attitude. Their behavior compared to the rest of the occupants in the restaurant was very subdued and much more private. The amount of bodily contact was also much greater than in other groups of participants. Other than their initial glances around the restaurant when they were first seated, almost none of the couples made a habit of surveying the restaurant, as were observed quite frequently with the other members of the study. Also noted was the tendency for the females within the younger–adult relationships to take leave to the toilet almost as soon as the couple was seated. In some cases, the male ordered the female's drink while she was still in the toilet. Almost always, no matter the age of the couple, alcoholic beverages were preferred to order. During the meal the couples were much more inclined to share food as well, picking at each other's food. The cases in which Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. Observational Assessment The purpose of this observational assessment is to ensure my students understand what is being taught. I teach third grade math which has many new concepts, so I need to be sure they are grasping these unfamiliar topics. By paying attention to these various measurements, I will be able to determine if the student is comprehending the lesson. How a student answers a question asked will tell me how much they understand. Also, the types of questions they are asking me will assist me in determining what they have mastered and what they have not. Furthermore, a student that can start and complete an assignment on their own truly understands the new information that was taught, while a student that has difficulty getting started will need additional Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. Child Care and Observation Essay Observation is very important in young children because that is how you get to know a child better. While observing how a child interacts with their peers, adults, and how they behave in different settings, you are getting to know the child without speaking to them. It may be important to observe a child but at the same time it may mislead you into being judgmental, too soon. For instance, if you observe a child misbehaving, not getting along with the other children or talking back to the teacher, you might get the impression that he/she is a 'bad' child and you might treat and act differently with that particular child. From my personal experiences, I have to come to the conclusion that it doesn't always work the way I believe...show more content... At the daycare, I try not to let my observations take over a situation. If I see hit Gaspar rather then jump to conclusions and scold Vincent, I talk to the both of them and ask questions, like, ?Why did you hit him?? ?What made you so angry that you felt you had to hit him?? ?How did that make you feel?? so on and so forth. Observations are very important but it is not good to be judgmental when observing because you may be observing a child who in reality is a good kid but is acting aggressively because he/she is having a bad day and you might just categorize the child wrongfully. 1. Taylor is trying to fill a bucket with water. It has a hole in the bottom. He begins to fill it and water dribbles out he gets frustrated and begins to cry loudly. Taylor feels helpless in this situation and is unhappy that things are not going her way. She needs to know that there are other options. The way I would handle it is by telling her, ? Taylor, there is no need to cry, there is a hole in the bottom of the bucket and that is why the water is coming out. I understand that you might be a little frustrated because you want to play wit the water but let?s not cry. I have a solution, why don?t we go inside and see if we can fix it. If it is not fixable then we can go and look for another bucket so we can play with the water. 2. A new child enters the center and speaks no English. He is crying after his mom just left. How do you
