Design thinking is a process for practical, creative resolution of problems or issues that looks for an improved future result. It is the essential ability to
combine empathy, creativity and rationality to meet user needs and drive business success. Unlike analytical thinking, design thinking is a creative
process based around the building up of ideas. There are no judgments early on the design thinking (Simon, 1969, p. 55). Design thinking includes
imagination and reason, a combination of convergent and divergent thought, and creativity. Design thinking might be thought of as dialectic, or

Deep understanding of the context of client and user needs is generated through analytical observation or ethnographic research that task seek to
understand the fundamental use and usability needs of the customer or user and the meaning–based needs (Archer, 1984, 64). In the observation phase,
data is collected to elicit the stories that help to understand culture and meaning in variety of forms: field notes, focus groups, interviews, transcripts,
photographs, video and audio tapes, participant or non–participant observation, and formal ethnographic (Beckman & Barry, 2007).
The second stage of design thinking is frameworks the design problem: this phase requires processing and a large amount of information –which is
collected from the observation phase– but at the same time being able to see what is missing for the customers and users information. The ultimate
purpose of the framing phase is to reframe the design problem, to come up with a new story to tell about how the user might solve his or her problem,
or to come up with a new way of seeing problem, to identify interesting dimension, to identifying and formulation the goals, to identifying external and
internal constrains (Oxman, 1997, p. 344), to create design brief –outline programme– and time lines and providing the boundaries of the design field
(Archer, 1984, p. 67; Cross, 2006, p. 32).

Fallacies are divided into two main categories: irrelevant premises and unacceptable premises. A fallacy that falls under the irrelevant premises is
appeal to the person. Appeal to the person is rejecting the claim not because of the claim itself, but because of the person who makes the claim. In
the workplace, someone could suggest a pleasing idea, but because of the individual it came from, an idea that could have been exertive is now
useless. Another fallacy is appeal to popularity, arguing that a claim must be true solely because a significant number of people believe it.
Because the majority says something, does not mean that it is always right. What an individual believe is extraneous. Something could happen at
work where there is a counterfactual mistake, but because merely everyone believes it, it can produce many mistakes. Appeal to tradition is
another fallacy that an individual can examine while in a work setting. Many people believe only what is connected to their traditions and beliefs.
This is fallacious because everyone has a different belief and while in a work setting, you are going to work with people who have very different
belief systems. While applying a person's guilt, anger, resentment, pity, etc. to get what you want, you are appealing to emotion. A person is

Similarities and Differences
Prior to completing this paper, I thought that critical thinking and creative problem solving were very different. However, I find that they are very
much alike. Critical thinking and creative problem solving follow very similar steps to reach a solution.
Conceptualizing and preparing are the beginning phases at which time one realizes there is a problem. Stage two is the applying and analyzing or
incubation stage. After success has been reached at this stage, the process proceeds to the synthesizing or illumination stage. This could also be
considered the Aha stage where an idea comes to light. The last stage is the evaluation or verification to determine the success of the solution.
One difference that should be discussed is that the creative process appears to be more open and looks for more than one resolution to a problem. An
example of this is the story at the end of chapter nine. The question presented was "Show how it is possible to determine the height of a tall building
with the aid of barometer" (Dacey & Lennon, 1998, p. 185). The professor expected an answer using physics logic, but the student was creative
and thought outside the box. By doing this, there were many answers to the question. The critical thinking process is rigid and expects to find only one
resolution.

Creative thinkers are curious, imaginative, inventive, explorative and open minded. Almost 20 years ago, my husband of 20 years passed away.
A few years later, my father passed away also. They were the only 2 men that I had known in my life, so it was an incident in my life that left
gaping holes. At the time, I loved in North Carolina and that is also the place that both my late husband and father resided at the time of their

A person will be prejudiced to certain opinions without exploring all sides of an issue. People create barriers that stop the gathering of information and
analyzing that are key to being a critical thinker. A few of the resistances that foster narrow–mindedness are denial, the refusal to believe something
despite overwhelming evidence, avoidance, not seeking out opposing views but staying with only those that agree with your position on an issue,
and ignorance, not seeking out information that is available(Boss, 2010). The two resistances that I have used are avoidance and conformity. These

As I reread this topic several times and tried to bring it to life to write an intelligent paper on it, I had to search my memory for the actions that made
me think, learn, act and react. So, I took a trip down memory lane and thought back to my childhood and started thinking of my elementary school

further, there is another form of conditioning known as aversive conditioning this happens when you begin to associate a negative act as a
reaction to doing something wrong. An example would be, when we are in our teen years, and all our friends are smoking, and it is our turn to do
the nasty deed, we vacillate, "to do or not to do". We internally hear all the negatives regarding smoking, but we see our friends saying "just come
on, do it". We know if we are caught doing this act, there will be much negative reaction from our parents, in the form of a huge punishment, so the
big question we ask ourselves, is peer pressure worth it, or should I just say no. If I smoke, I pay a consequence in getting grounded, if I say no,

My job now isn't bad, but it takes forever to get there, because I do have a car. I need a job that closer to home and that would give me more hours. I
could gather all the information, weigh the pros and cons and come to a sound decision. Putting my personal feelings aside and avoid errors in
judgment. Sometimes I need to think without my emotions. It would help me not to use snap judgments, negative labeling and stereotypes in my thought

solving involving mathematics can use sense perception as a way of knowing. In these problems, real life situations allow for the organization of ideas

concrete problems. For example, calculating the replanting of trees in a forest would depend on the circumstances surrounding the problems and
factors would be dependant on the situation. Is creating a personal solution to the problems more effective than searching for existing solutions? In

I Am An Over Thinker
My brain constantly races, not necessarily stressfully, but it's like my thoughts never rest. I have been told for years that I overthink things. And by
things, I mean every meaningful or unnecessary thing, even down to which flavor Gatorade I should buy before practice. I usually end up picking
the light blue kind after a big debate. Making the decision to pick one word that describes me is tough, but the one word that describes me perfectly is
"over–thinker," although I am currently overthinking my word choice. I am often deemed worried, stressed, or anxious; although I do not think I
necessarily always am just because my mind races. I do stress, however, over the fact that I am an over–thinker. Overthinking is most probably the one
thing I overthink most. It exhausts my mind and is sometimes a major distraction from things that deserve my focus. Days, weeks, months, and even
years go by and some things never fail to haunt me. Decisions I made and events in the past still come into my mind when I try to sleep at night.
