I am applying for promotion because I wish to continue my development and better myself within my fire service career but also to have an
opportunity to positively lead others encouraging growth and excellence through my hard work and dedication to the service.
During my time at Swindon RDS I have demonstrated leadership and support of my colleagues during some very challenging times including a major
disciplinary process involving management of the section, this put the whole watch into a difficult position and it affected both performance and
morale severely, I used my time not only to support the parties directly involved in the process but understanding that the implications of the process
affected everyone I actively led and supported the watch as a whole, often liaising between management, the watch and other departments to ensure the
watch continued to work together as a complete unit and the negative effects were minimised as much as possible....show more content...

(National Eagle Scout Association) my role was to help retain new Eagle Scout to stay active with scouting and not just be done. The way I
accomplished this was by putting together service events and had them help organize certain parts of it and act as team leaders as well. After each
event, we would meet together and discuss what went well and what didn't go well and what we can do to improve for the next project we would do.
With the alumni committee, I am one of the founding members of it for the council. My role with them was more with working with the venturing
scout relations of the committee and also in charge of the scholarship board that we put together. In the alumni committee, I would help recruit older

Over the past two weeks, I spent the majority of my time in the field learning about the different types of work the department performs and
developing a working knowledge of our operational and safety procedures. During this time frame, I worked alongside many of our crews and
developed a working relationship with them. I was involved with the restoration process for Y–50. I worked midnight shifts alongside splicers to splice
the newly installed section for Y–50. From this task, I learned about the tedious process to splice together a transmission cable and the many steps
involved. I also reviewed chapter two of the EPRI Underground Transmission Systems Reference Book (Green Book), which discuss the different types
of transmission cables and the components that comprises the cable. Besides feeder Y–50, I had the opportunity to see a leak on feeder 38B11. Feeder
38B11 is a 138kV feeder which runs between the Bensonhurst and Greenwood Substation. The leak was discovered by a PFT search

Feeder 25 is a 345kV feeder which runs between Gowanus and Goethals substation. The leak search was divided into two teams, one for the Staten
Island side of the feeder and the other for the Brooklyn side, which I was part of. The crews and I drove to each manhole location for feeder 25,
lifted the manhole cover and performed a visual inspection to check for oil. The experience showed me the appalling conditions of our manholes.
During our inspections, we came across a manhole which contained water mixed with oil, we took oil sampled and reported the spill to the spill desk.
