Personal Narrative: All About Me
All About Me
Before I was born, my parents used to call me goblin. This was because I ended up being born
around an hour after Halloween night, and at the time i was expected to be born right on
Halloween. Since then it has been 14 years and I am now a freshman at Turpin high school. I
have an awesome family that consists of four people. It's me, my younger brother Michael, and
my parents. Michael is an eighth grader at Nagel, and just recently turned 13. My parents work
together in their own company where they recruit people for jobs. Also, the two families (the
Kotts & Meeks) that live on either side of my house are pretty much like my second family. I am
closest with Elizabeth, who is 17, and Sara who is 16. I love to go on different...show more content...
One of my strengths when it comes to English is being able to comprehend what I am reading. On
the other hand, I struggle with concluding my thoughts when it comes to writing things. I hope I
can work on making a good conclusion so that I can succeed better in writing essays and other
writing pieces. When I am learning, it is easier for me to process things when I am reading
something directly or when the teacher is talking. I also like songs because they make things
easier to remember. One thing that is not good for me though is a video. More specifically, a
video where the speaking is speaking in a monotone voice. While I am watching the video my
brain will completely zone out and go to something else. This school year I hope to maintain at
least a 3.5 GPA, and never turn in any later work. TO do this, I am going to write everything down
in my planner so that I will not forget any homework assignments. I will also try very hard not to
procrastinate, especially when it comes to studying for a test, or finishing a projects. My hope is
that by the end of my high school career, I will know what I want to do in life, and what college I
will go to. I also hope to learn more about how to pay bills and do other adult

Essay About Myself as a Writer
I don't consider myself a very good writer. I write when I am made to or when I have something
that I need to say that I can't just tell someone. I keep a diary. Usually my diary is just a record of
what I have done that day. It's not so much about my feelings. I don't really like talking about my
feelings, usually because most of the time I am confused about what exactly I am feeling. I tend to
keep the feelings that I do have to myself, to protect myself from getting hurt.
I didn't have that many close friends in high school. I always was just kind of there. I was no one
important. Everyone seems to have his or her place in this world of high school and it seemed that
my place was on the outside that I...show more content...
When I started my high school, I found my current best friend, Marie. We are still friends to this day;
she just left for college at George Mason. So once again I'm not with my best friend.
I'm not trying to make my life all depressing because it hasn't been all bad. And I realize that
people have had things a lot worse happen to them, in their lives, and I should be thankful for
what I have. But no matter what I have I just never seem truly happy. I always have this front up,
and it seems like everything is going great, but deep inside, I'm falling apart. This comes out in
my writing, and I think that writing is a good release from all of this. I always try to do my best
when it comes to my class work and my writing, but I know that my writing isn't the best by any
means. I always find it important to the best job that I can do, on school work and also in life.
I think that a lot of what got me through writing papers in middle and high school was my mom.
She was so great about reading over and correcting my papers. She stayed up many nights doing
that for me. Not because she had to, but because she wanted to help me. There were so many other
things she could have been doing, but instead she was helping me, and that means a lot to me. I'm
kind of nervous about doing this all on my own. I'm excited thought o see what I can do on my
own. I am so excited about starting new here, with a clean slate. I think that

What I Learned About Myself Essay
This class has taught me a lot about myself in such a brief period of time. I never thought I could
dig as deep as I did, and have a better understanding of who I am as a person just by writing a single
essay. I was not expecting the amount of self–awareness that I gained through this class. I really
enjoyed the hermit crab essays, because they really guided me to find my true feelings. It was hard
for me to get started writing at first and then once I got started, it was almost impossible to stop. I
love the feeling that I am in control of what I am writing and there are no restrictions and that I
can be vulnerable in my writing. This class really helped me show the vulnerable side of who I
am. I was sometimes moved to tears while I was writing because, I realized things about myself
that I never thought to be true before. I would get so excited that I would read it to my boyfriend,
family and friends. This class was in no way easy, but it was definitely worth it for many reasons.
I learned how to become a better writer, I learned about myself as a person, and I constructed
pieces of writing that I didn't know I was capable of. Some assignments became easier as time
went on because I became a stronger writer. However, I think the hardest one for me was having to
write about the room I was in. It didn't interest me because it didn't help me dig deeper into my
feelings or anything of that matter. I also didn't enjoy having to respond to different pieces of
writing, because it

Narrative Essay Kindergarten
All I wanted when I was little was to have beautiful long hair. All of my dolls had hair down to
their waist , and I longed to have hair like them. Unfortunately for me, my hair did not grow very
fast... at all. I was practically bald until I was three; and my hair was only about to my chin when
I was ready to start kindergarten. So there I was, on my first day at Foreign Language Academy. I
was in SeГ±ora Vargas's Kindergarten class holding on to my mom, dreading the moment she
would have to leave. I had been really excited about starting school and getting to wear my navy
blue dress and my hellokitty backpack. Actually being in the classroom, however, incredibly nerve
racking. Most of the parents were mingling and asking questions to the teacher, while the kids tried
to find their place. Some kids had already began to play games with one another. Others, like me,
were more shy, still clinging to their parent. In all the commotion, I noticed a girl who had the longest
hair in the entire class of kindergartners. She looked a lot like me except she had freckles, a pink
cast on her arm, and the hair I had ever seen. Her hair was the same color as mine, but about triple
the length, and with more curl in it. Jealousy immediately swept over me. It seemed like this girl
had everything I had ever wished for in my entire life. I also thought casts were really cool at that
time because I did not really understand that broken bones hurt, or that you couldn't really move

It's All About Me
"It's All About Me" It's All About Me is an enlightening documentary exploring the diversity of the
different generations, spanning over four decades. The show is a probing and controversial view at
the difference in the generations through various changes throughout recent history in trends, culture,
and traits. Antoine Gaber along with a cast of various generations metaphorically journey through
time to explore how Gen X's nurturing and education morphed into an inflated, entitled persona of
today's youth. Through multiple interviews from every generation a viewer is able to decipher the
mass diversity between how Gen X's mentality was in relation to how it became in Gen Y and then
how it is currently in Gen Z. The show touches on multiple...show more content...
I came from a poor childhood and wanted better for my own children, but I wanted to instill my
parents solid work ethnics and respect for others into my children. My children have chores to
teach responsibility and work ethic and are taught to respect their elders, as well as good manners. I
have noticed that a lot of children have lost these basic social etiquette. For example, I had a
principle call and tell me that any other child would of received punishment for something my sons
had done, but due to the fact that they remained polite, well–mannered and respectful he was just
giving them a warning that time. His comment was "It is a relief to see that some children are
still being raised with basic manners". I found that quite sad and it explained why I was hearing
children be respectful so infrequently. I have noticed over the past several years as my children
have aged into teenagers that the younger ones seem to exude a sense of entitlement and that the
world or I owe them for being alive and in my presence. Granted so far they only express themselves
like this while at home. It never fails to appall me, due to the fact that I would have been smacked
down if I disrespected an adult in any form or

Ten Characteristics That Describe Me And Who I Am
All about Me Ten characteristics that describe me and who I am are:
1. I am normally shy around people who I don't really know or someone I have never met before.
But once I am around them for a while I eventually open up, normally I am a shy person. I don't
like getting up in front of classes to give speeches.
2. Compassionate would be another characteristic because I always want to help people. I love
working at a nursing home and helping the residents and making sure they get the help that they need.
3. Having responsibility or being responsible is another characteristic because I am always
completing things ahead of time. I always keep my check book in order and I know if it seems
like I will spend too much money I will look at and see if I really need to spend the money or can
I save it for something else, or even wait till the next pay check. My assignments for school are
normally completed before they are due, but there is sometimes when that doesn't happen but, life
gets in the way sometimes.
4. Intelligent because going through high school I always had good grades. I was on the honor
rolls and in National Honor Society. I had a 3.67 cumulative GPA. So I would say I was intelligent,
but give me a car to take apart I would not be very intelligent.
5. I would say that I am an honest person. I dislike lying very much. Telling the truth is something
that I feel is the right thing to do.
6. I am respectful because working at a nursing home

My Collage: What People Assume About Me?
The outside of my collage represents what people assume or may assume about me. Some of
these things are true however, not everything that people will assume about you will always be
negative. Some of the things that people assume about me are true. For example, I enjoy writing
code for software for computers and playing video games. I tend to enjoy activities and hobbies
that people consider are for nerds only. I took a two year electrical engineering and robotics class
in high school. I enjoyed it a lot. People usually assume that I'm always angry about something. I
admit that I do look angry most of the time but that's just how I look. I'm often labeled as being
shy but I don't really have much to talk about with others. I would rather talk with others that are
interested in the same things I am. It is better to communicate with people that are interested in the
same subjects that you are also interested in instead of seeming like you are forcing yourself to
communicate with people that you don't have anything in common with. People often assume that
I don't have any friends or very few of them. I have enough close friends that I can talk with and
have a great time. Most of us still play video games and some of us know a good...show more

Some of the assumptions that people make about are correct. People may assume these things
about me because my appearance causes them to make assumptions. I wear glasses so that might
be the main reason why people assume that I'm smart and know a lot about computers. Not
everyone will assume the same things about me. There are things that people don't know about me.
For example, I can incredibly lazy. I tend to slack off at times. If a homework assignment is boring
to me, I will slack off and procrastinate. I don't enjoy tedious tasks that don't benefit me or busy
work. If I'm doing something, I want to learn from it to increase my

Descriptive Essay About Myself
I find it extremely tough to talk about myself and my personal traits. In order for me to dIscuss
who I am in an accurate manner then I must provide some basic background information on
myself and talk about the Environment I grew up in. This way people can get a better
understanding of why I am the way I am. My Background is so essential In making me myself
because If I had been born under any different circumstances or grew up any differently I would be
a different person than I am today. I was born inAberdeen Scotland but raised in Fort Bend County
Texas. Aberdeen and Fort Bend both have great opportunities but differ in many ways. One way in
which they differ is that Fort Bend is very culturally diverse while in Aberdeen most of...show more

Her family communicates to one another using spanish or sometimes english. I have always
grown up in a family that speaks only english so I find it interesting to go over to other people's
houses and hear them communicating in another language. On top of all of this meeting different
people has also opened my mind to new ideas. For example, in school when we work in group
projects we collaborate and communicate with people who think differently than us then work
together to figure out whose ideas will work the best and how to improve them.
Another factor that plays a part in why I am shaped how I am is my family's economic
circumstances. I have always had access to anything I needed and for that I have extreme
gratitude because I know some people have a lot of difficulty in life. Since I was born into a
family with such good economic circumstances I have been lucky to have lots of opportunities.
One Opportunity I had as a child was participating in taekwondo. I did taekwondo until I reached a
blackbelt which took years of hardwork and dedication. I had to memorize forms, Spar with other
competitors and break boards in order to continue to move up to the next level. Taekwondo also
helped keep me in good shape and fit when I was younger. Another Opportunity I am grateful for is
the skill of playing the piano. At first I was not all that enthusiastic about playing it but my parents
has signed me up and insisted I

What Is My Name Essay
A name is not just what you're called, it is who you are. It is what you stand for and ultimately
defines you as a person. Growing up, I used to think my name did not fit me and that nothing that
my name stood for had anything to do with me. Now that I am older, I understand the real meaning
of my name and how the traits that are connected with my name relate to the person that I have
become and continue to develop into. My name represents who I am and who I plan to be.
According to kabalarians.com, the name Riley represents a seek in change, new opportunities and
new challenges. With this description, I feel as though my name fits who I am. Growing up my life
changed frequently; even though I hated how much it did change back then, it has made me the
person I am today. With change, I would challenge myself to adjust to the change. This has reflected
in my everyday life, because I challenge myself to do better and succeed. In sports, I have

It also means that I tell the truth and I can be blunt. Most of the time, when asked for my input I
give my honest opinion and will not back down. In many situations in my life, it has been very
important to give my thoughts on a situation that would change my life. For example, when my
parents got divorced I had to choose which parent I wanted to live with and I couldn't choose just to
make that one parent happy. When a friend needs me, I will help them and give them the answer that
they may or may not want to hear. However, it helps them come up with a decision on what they
need to do. Some could say that being blunt is a bad thing, however when a friend asks for advice it
is better to give the answer straight up than to "beat around the bush" and give them the answer that
they may want to hear. With the traits that Colleen brings, I feel that the traits fit me very

memory is off what my dad said to me when I asked him why him and mom were getting divorced

and said "no you don't". This is an important thing about me as it is my first memory. 3. I love
animals no matter what type, I have always loved animals. This is because we've always had
animals in the house since I was born, cats dogs, fish, and many others. 4. I was born on wednesday
march twenty–seventh on the week of easter. So it's important as it is the day I was born but it has
some freaky coincidences. One is my brother and I are both born on the week of easter. The second
is my mom, dad and I are all born on a wednesdays. Finally my mom is born on september

Essay About Myself
There are three very important aspects that play a major rule in my life. They can be categorized as
intellectual, social, and spiritual. My intellectual self is interesting because I am mainly
right–brained which means that I tend to use my creativity more than my mathematical skills, also
making me a visual learner. My social self consists of friends, family, and my surroundings. I spend
most of my time at home with my family. Whenever I am with my friends, I observe their behaviors
and listen to their opinions. I am more of an independent type of person. Being with different people
has influenced me into appreciating different cultures and beliefs. I have learned things that have

I find that I can only recall long–term memories if they are important to me, or if they are dramatic
experiences. A few examples of my childhood memories are my mother reading to me, my
grandfather playing his guitar, and my dad relentlessly teaching me how to ice skate, no matter
how many times I fell. The people who affect my social life the most are my family and friends. I
have an extremely close family that has played a major role in my life. They are whom I spend
most of my spare time with. My family usually gathers every weekend for dinner. I am also very
open to different religions, cultures, and practices because I know many people with different
backgrounds and beliefs. Since I've been influenced by various people, I've learned at a very
young age to never judge people by how they look, dress, feel, or act. I am very fortunate to have
learned these lessons, because many people still do not understand the importance of accepting
differences. In a group, I prefer to listen to what others have to say, and then contribute to the
discussion. I try to listen so I am able to compare them to my own thoughts. I enjoy working in a
group, because it gives everyone an opportunity to incorporate their own ideas. My social self is
most greatly influenced by my family and friends. I believe that my spiritual self is the most
important out of the three. Although I have a certain religion that I belong to and practice, I believe

Culture defines people's values, beliefs, and personal interests. Culture is important because it allows
people to maintain a unique identity society. Many cultures have common interests, while others
may have customs that differ greatly from that of another. Technology has had a huge impact on
present day cultures. Many culture have been altered including my own, and some have been
created due to the rise of technology. Cultures differ so greatly that someone belonging to one

In the past, things were primarily about skin color, and issues regarding people of a particular skin
color were handled by such, and not ethnicity. Black people were black people, whites were whites,

identity, and I can make choices for my best interest, and not for the majority.
In spite of their differences, both African and African–American culture have been able to connect in
certain ways in recent years, as well as other cultures. Technology, specifically social media has
allowed my generation to connect with one another even with our cultural differences. There is a
chemistry that exists within my generation that my parent's generation never could have imagined
was possible. The International Association of Business Communicators says "At its core, social
media are about sharing information across boundaries. We can now find out what we want from
whomever we want. Social media is breaking down hierarchical, regional, age and cultural
boundaries" (IABC). Things have changed socially, through digital means, and it's a big part of what
makes me and my generation unique. Today, people in the United States can interact and

Reflective Essay About Myself
Walking into my fifth grade classroom for the millionth time, I searched around the room to see
if there was anyone like me. A girl with chocolate skin. For as long as I can remember, I was the
only one in my grade, ever since I started school. But this did not mean I did not have friends.
Caterina and I were best friends that year. She was from Venezuela, had white olive skin with
long blonde hair, and light eyes. One school day, when we were walking to P.E., she said to me "I
like your hair because it stays in place." A little taken back, I was not sure if this a compliment or
not, but I said thank you anyway. Her comment had stayed with me for the rest of the day. I began
to wonder why my hair grew the way it did and if I could change it. This was, thus the beginning
of my insecurities. Going to school every few months with a different hairstyle would raise a few
questions for my classmates. Different styles, such as, box braids and marley twists, would
change my attitude because I no longer looked the way I felt most of the time, ugly. But because
I knew my look was only temporary, I did my best not to draw attention to myself. As I advanced
grades, I always hoped there would be someone like me. Not necessarily student. After fifth grade, I
figured I might as well conquer eighth grade alone. It would at least be nice to have a teacher to
talk to about when I get angry about each day instead of keeping everything bottled up. A person "...

Interview About Me Essay
Interview about Me Rubi Garza Texas A&M International University The purpose for this interview
assessment is to measure an individual's personality by having two interviewees who know them
very well answer questions about them. The Informant Report Data approach and the qualitative
method are used for this test. The reliability, validity, and generalization of the test are examined
separately in order to see how effective they are. The results provide characteristics of the

degree of reliability and validity. The generalizability of the assessment was found to be moderately

Are They Talking About Me?
Assume that every moment people everywhere are talking about you. The whispers and stares
that people give are meant for you. This is how people with social anxiety disorder, or social
phobia, feel whenever they are vulnerable and exposed to others. It is a terrible ordeal for those
who suffer from this because it interrupts and restrains them for functioning properly in their daily
lives. This raises a question of how something like this comes about. What are some possible
causes of this and how can one overcome this? There are many apparent studies done that used
social and physiological factors as possible causes of social phobia. To begin with, social phobia is an
anxiety disorder that prohibits one to socialize with others due to...show more content...

understand its causes. It seems all factors combine in whimsical way to form anxiety in a person. One
has to take all factors in hand to truly understand anxiety in people.
A person's physiology also has a lot to do with the conception of one's anxiety. There has been
research done by Jerome Kagan, Ph.D. at Harvard University that showed about 10–15% of children
from birth to adolescence were irritable infants that made them shy and fearful as toddlers and stay
reserved and introverted in their primary school years (Wardy, 2002). This shows that anxiety
persists in an individual as they grow older. This actually suggests that an infant can be born with
irritability and fear which pertains to the growth in anxiety as they mature. Additionally, toddlers are
at age of learning and understanding their milieu and if certain preventive cautions are taken to
change their irritability and fear early on, then it stays with them as they grow mature. Kagan's
research also suggests that "physiological trait in certain children: they had a higher resting rate,
which rose higher when they were stressed" (Wardy, 2002). This explicates that some children stay
stressed longer and take a slower time to calm down which emphasizes their anxiety even more.
Consequently, according to Clinical

I 'm not perfect, but I 'm becoming the best possible version of myself. At first I was very

something was wrong with me, it wasn't just the world. I always felt different, the way I process
emotions and interact with people was a little abnormal. This became more apparent when I entered
college.
In 2014, I was officially diagnosed with Bi–polar Disorder. I thought "you know what I have this
mental illness, I can't live life. I was scared and confused. I pushed my boyfriend, friends, and mother
away. The only thing I had left were my negative thoughts and countless bottles of alcohol that
made going to sleep a little easier. There was a point of time where I was so overwhelmed with
anxiety that I feared leaving my bedroom. I wanted to take my life and tried several times. The
saddest part of it all was I never really wanted to kill myself, I just thought it was my only
opposition to escape the pain. I

My Personal Identity Essay
A person's identity is shaped by many different aspects. Family, culture, friends, personal interests
and surrounding environments are all factors that tend to help shape a person's identity. Some
factors may have more of an influence than others and some may not have any influence at all. As a
person grows up in a family, they are influenced by many aspects of their life. Family and culture
may influence a person's sense of responsibilities, ethics and morals, tastes in music, humor and
sports, and many other aspects of life. Friends and surrounding environments may influence a
person's taste in clothing, music, speech, and social activities. Personal interests are what truly set
individuals apart. An individual is not a puppet...show more content...
Society has had a limited impact on my lifestyle, mostly because I despise trends. The largest trends
I despise are rap and hip–hop and the clothing, attitudes, and type of speech that that type of 'music'
is breeding. I chose to steer away from that crowd, but it may also be because I live my life off of
adrenaline. My high on life is the energy I have when I get my blood pumping, my heart
pounding, and my adrenaline raging. Most aspects of my individuality reflect that very well. I
love hard, aggressive music, and also guns, but my passion in life is extreme sports, whether it be
on a dirt bike, a bmx bike, a snowmobile, or a snowboard. I have a strong set of morals and ethics
that I have partly adopted from my parents, but some are also partly my own. My morals mostly
consist of karma (being kind, caring, helpful, truthful, and considerate to others), not littering
(especially in nature), respecting nature, keeping a clean and welcoming home, success that is
measured with happiness and not possessions, and having strong family ties. I feel that I am very
strongly rounded individual who is going to go far in life. Many people would agree with that,
although some people just think that I am an absolutely crazy person who has a death wish and will
not go anywhere but to the hospital or the morgue. Educational experiences also tend to influence a
person's identity. I have not had too many educational

Essay about My Life
My Life
I was born in San Jose, Costa Rica, and moved to California when I was very young. Before I moved
to California my dad traveled back and forth for 2 or 3 yrs from California and back to Costa Rica.
He spent most of his time working in the Fresno area, in the cities of Tulare, and Visalia. He says
he spent his time working in any available job including some farm labor jobs and went back to Costa
Rica to spend time with us. After the second time he left Costa Rica to come and work he did not
go back. At that time, amnesty was given to immigrants in California, and he moved up north to the
Bay area to find a steady job. That is when he saved enough money for my mother, my two siblings,
and I to join him in California.
My first...show more content...
I was in ESL programs until I entered junior high school. Learning the language, and trying to keep
up with the class work was a challenge for me. Having friends who spoke my language, and the
English language as well was an advantage I had. Having that extra help and support really made my
school experience challenging, but exciting as well.
Remembering the support I received from those friends creates a need in me to do the same for other
people. I don't only believe that the support that I can give to migrant students as a Mini–Corps
student will help them in succeeding in school, but I believe that an appreciation for school can
be gained as well, and hopefully bring insight for continuing their studies beyond high school. As
I improved in my English I also grew an interest in writing. I enjoyed my English classes, along
with my math classes too. My interest grew and grew, and I joined summer girl programs. After
participating two year, I became a mentor to those new peers coming into the program. I worked
with teachers in Science, and in Math classes. I also participated in the volleyball activities, and
group activities. This is when I realized I wanted to work with youth my whole life. My interest in
English, and my interest in being a role model to youth made me decide to become an English
teacher, especially working with students whose first language is not English.
Now, I am a college student. I first went to UC Santa Barbara, where I dealt with more

The Most Important Thing You Know About Me
The most important thing you need to know about me is that I am very family–oriented. My family
means everything to me. I am a stay–at–home mother of three children, two boys and a girl who are
seven, three, and two respectively. My husband, a firefighter in Mobile, and I have been married
for over four years. Going back to school was a huge decision to make; but, I wanted to better myself
for my family. I have always wanted to work in the medical field, so choosing a degree in nursing
was easy. I graduated from Baker High School in 2006, then I attended the University of South
Alabama for two semesters, and then I decided to take a break to focus on my family. After my
first son was born, I stayed home with him for a year, then I went to work as a preschool teacher.
I love working with children, so my goal is to work in the labor and delivery department as a
Registered Nurse or work in the nursery with the newborn babies. After I finish my Associate's
Degree in Nursing, I plan on going back to school to get my Bachelor's Degree and then, eventually,
my Master's Degree in Nursing.
I love reading fiction more than any other kind of book. I have read all of the Twilight and Hunger
Games books and I am currently reading the Divergent series. I have also read other books, like The
Notebook and The Giver among many other fiction books. One of my most favorite books is To Kill
a Mockingbird. I have also enjoyed some non–fiction like The Diary of Anne Frank. I like reading

Narrative Essay About Me
Narrative Essay about me
The age of 16 is the prime of being a teenager. It is the age in which some of the most beautiful
events happen and that would serve to remind us how wonderful it was when we were young and
vibrant. At the age of 16, a boy or girl gets to connect with people who may or may not last
forever. The age of 16 is the peak of the adolescent. It is the transition between adolescent and
young adult hood (Botwinick No.Page.). One realizes that adulthood is soon kicking the door and
it is a time that one strikes a difference between good and bad choices. At this crucial age, my life
took the most drastic turn ever. I moved from the Kenya, Africa to theUnited States.
The feeling was totally the most confusing. At such an age...show more content...
Everything would be such a new and exciting experience. I would be traveling in the air for about
16 hours. I had so many questions in my mind. The day came and my curiosity of the travel ended. I
landed in the United States.
The first scene was exciting and amusing as I had anticipated. I had never seen so many white
people in life. Every child looked like a doll. Some people were too tall. The first thing that came
to my mind was a sense of freedom. Life suddenly changed. I was in another country so developed
and so different from Kenya, that I almost thought heaven was either alike or just a little better.
I was afraid to speak. I could only feel bold to speak to my mother because I thought only she
could understand anything I said. I could overhear people speak but could not comprehend most
of what they said. I was not used to people speaking English with such a soft and quick tone.
Slowly the reality of how new the place was new to me started hitting me. I could not speak freely
and neither did I hear exactly what people were talking about.
I did not have friends. I had now moved to a new school. Even though I could see other black
kids, I had the feeling that everybody else knew that I was from Africa. I was afraid to speak
because I did not trust my words. What if I said something and everybody looked at me with weird
faces. It was not what I expected. Everything intimidated me. The school system there was very
different from back in Kenya. The

essay about myself
Hi,
I am an international student from Czech Republic and I am applying for college preparatory
boarding school in USA. This is my short essay (100–200 words), topic is "Tell us about yourself
and why you would like to become a part of our school family."
My story is similar like the story of thousand of other children: My father struggled with alcohol
and drug problems which caused him to leave my mother and me, so I grew up with only my
mother. Nevertheless, I realized what I want from my life.
Throughout my life, I have heard people constantly repeat that children who grow up with only one
parent end up unsuccessful, on drugs or even in prison. I have decided that I do not want that for
me; I will not follow my father's...show more content...
I couldn't get used to the surroundings and couldn't sleep much for days. I also disliked the
unfamiliar food given at the boarding house. I missed my family so much and became depressed.
But my parents supported me. They phoned me often, even though they were busy with work.
When I was seeking an advice about school, they suggested me with good ideas. My father mailed a
box filled with Japanese sweets, to the Japanese–food–hungry me. Without my parents support, I
would have been depressed for the whole 4 years at the boarding house.
Lastly, I recognized bad characteristics of myself at the boarding house, where many other
students live. I'm very stubborn. I get stubborn when I am choosing for something. For example, I
had a small quarrel with my roommates about a shower time because I was being adamant with
changing it. Another characteristic of myself I had realised is that I can get irritated quite easily. I
get irritated when something is distracting me when I am concentrating. For example, I said some
rude words at my friend who just came into my room when I was concentrating on my test studies.
On top of that, I became aware that I am lazy. Once I was scolded for not doing the weekly duty
allotted. I have recognized many bad parts of my identity, and I wish to change them in the future.
To conclude, I came to value friends and family with my boarding experience. The things I value is
a important part of my identity. I also started to want to

About Me Essay

  • 1. Personal Narrative: All About Me All About Me Before I was born, my parents used to call me goblin. This was because I ended up being born around an hour after Halloween night, and at the time i was expected to be born right on Halloween. Since then it has been 14 years and I am now a freshman at Turpin high school. I have an awesome family that consists of four people. It's me, my younger brother Michael, and my parents. Michael is an eighth grader at Nagel, and just recently turned 13. My parents work together in their own company where they recruit people for jobs. Also, the two families (the Kotts & Meeks) that live on either side of my house are pretty much like my second family. I am closest with Elizabeth, who is 17, and Sara who is 16. I love to go on different...show more content... One of my strengths when it comes to English is being able to comprehend what I am reading. On the other hand, I struggle with concluding my thoughts when it comes to writing things. I hope I can work on making a good conclusion so that I can succeed better in writing essays and other writing pieces. When I am learning, it is easier for me to process things when I am reading something directly or when the teacher is talking. I also like songs because they make things easier to remember. One thing that is not good for me though is a video. More specifically, a video where the speaking is speaking in a monotone voice. While I am watching the video my brain will completely zone out and go to something else. This school year I hope to maintain at least a 3.5 GPA, and never turn in any later work. TO do this, I am going to write everything down in my planner so that I will not forget any homework assignments. I will also try very hard not to procrastinate, especially when it comes to studying for a test, or finishing a projects. My hope is that by the end of my high school career, I will know what I want to do in life, and what college I will go to. I also hope to learn more about how to pay bills and do other adult Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Essay About Myself as a Writer I don't consider myself a very good writer. I write when I am made to or when I have something that I need to say that I can't just tell someone. I keep a diary. Usually my diary is just a record of what I have done that day. It's not so much about my feelings. I don't really like talking about my feelings, usually because most of the time I am confused about what exactly I am feeling. I tend to keep the feelings that I do have to myself, to protect myself from getting hurt. I didn't have that many close friends in high school. I always was just kind of there. I was no one important. Everyone seems to have his or her place in this world of high school and it seemed that my place was on the outside that I...show more content... When I started my high school, I found my current best friend, Marie. We are still friends to this day; she just left for college at George Mason. So once again I'm not with my best friend. I'm not trying to make my life all depressing because it hasn't been all bad. And I realize that people have had things a lot worse happen to them, in their lives, and I should be thankful for what I have. But no matter what I have I just never seem truly happy. I always have this front up, and it seems like everything is going great, but deep inside, I'm falling apart. This comes out in my writing, and I think that writing is a good release from all of this. I always try to do my best when it comes to my class work and my writing, but I know that my writing isn't the best by any means. I always find it important to the best job that I can do, on school work and also in life. I think that a lot of what got me through writing papers in middle and high school was my mom. She was so great about reading over and correcting my papers. She stayed up many nights doing that for me. Not because she had to, but because she wanted to help me. There were so many other things she could have been doing, but instead she was helping me, and that means a lot to me. I'm kind of nervous about doing this all on my own. I'm excited thought o see what I can do on my own. I am so excited about starting new here, with a clean slate. I think that Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. What I Learned About Myself Essay This class has taught me a lot about myself in such a brief period of time. I never thought I could dig as deep as I did, and have a better understanding of who I am as a person just by writing a single essay. I was not expecting the amount of self–awareness that I gained through this class. I really enjoyed the hermit crab essays, because they really guided me to find my true feelings. It was hard for me to get started writing at first and then once I got started, it was almost impossible to stop. I love the feeling that I am in control of what I am writing and there are no restrictions and that I can be vulnerable in my writing. This class really helped me show the vulnerable side of who I am. I was sometimes moved to tears while I was writing because, I realized things about myself that I never thought to be true before. I would get so excited that I would read it to my boyfriend, family and friends. This class was in no way easy, but it was definitely worth it for many reasons. I learned how to become a better writer, I learned about myself as a person, and I constructed pieces of writing that I didn't know I was capable of. Some assignments became easier as time went on because I became a stronger writer. However, I think the hardest one for me was having to write about the room I was in. It didn't interest me because it didn't help me dig deeper into my feelings or anything of that matter. I also didn't enjoy having to respond to different pieces of writing, because it Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Narrative Essay Kindergarten All I wanted when I was little was to have beautiful long hair. All of my dolls had hair down to their waist , and I longed to have hair like them. Unfortunately for me, my hair did not grow very fast... at all. I was practically bald until I was three; and my hair was only about to my chin when I was ready to start kindergarten. So there I was, on my first day at Foreign Language Academy. I was in SeГ±ora Vargas's Kindergarten class holding on to my mom, dreading the moment she would have to leave. I had been really excited about starting school and getting to wear my navy blue dress and my hellokitty backpack. Actually being in the classroom, however, incredibly nerve racking. Most of the parents were mingling and asking questions to the teacher, while the kids tried to find their place. Some kids had already began to play games with one another. Others, like me, were more shy, still clinging to their parent. In all the commotion, I noticed a girl who had the longest hair in the entire class of kindergartners. She looked a lot like me except she had freckles, a pink cast on her arm, and the hair I had ever seen. Her hair was the same color as mine, but about triple the length, and with more curl in it. Jealousy immediately swept over me. It seemed like this girl had everything I had ever wished for in my entire life. I also thought casts were really cool at that time because I did not really understand that broken bones hurt, or that you couldn't really move Get more content on HelpWriting.net

The show is a probing and controversial view at the difference in the generations through various changes throughout recent history in trends, culture, and traits. Antoine Gaber along with a cast of various generations metaphorically journey through time to explore how Gen X's nurturing and education morphed into an inflated, entitled persona of today's youth. I came from a poor childhood and wanted better for my own children, but I wanted to instill my parents solid work ethnics and respect for others into my children. My children have chores to teach responsibility and work ethic and are taught to respect their elders, as well as good manners. I have noticed that a lot of children have lost these basic social etiquette. For example, I had a principle call and tell me that any other child would of received punishment for something my sons had done, but due to the fact that they remained polite, well–mannered and respectful he was just giving them a warning that time. His comment was "It is a relief to see that some children are still being raised with basic manners". I found that quite sad and it explained why I was hearing children be respectful so infrequently. I have noticed over the past several years as my children have aged into teenagers that the younger ones seem to exude a sense of entitlement and that the world or I owe them for being alive and in my presence. Granted so far they only express themselves like this while at home. It never fails to appall me, due to the fact that I would have been smacked down if I disrespected an adult in any form or Get more content on HelpWriting.net

I am normally shy around people who I don't really know or someone I have never met before. But once I am around them for a while I eventually open up, normally I am a shy person. I don't like getting up in front of classes to give speeches. 2. Compassionate would be another characteristic because I always want to help people. I love working at a nursing home and helping the residents and making sure they get the help that they need. 3. Having responsibility or being responsible is another characteristic because I am always completing things ahead of time. I always keep my check book in order and I know if it seems like I will spend too much money I will look at and see if I really need to spend the money or can I save it for something else, or even wait till the next pay check. My assignments for school are normally completed before they are due, but there is sometimes when that doesn't happen but, life gets in the way sometimes. 4. Intelligent because going through high school I always had good grades. I was on the honor rolls and in National Honor Society. I had a 3.67 cumulative GPA. So I would say I was intelligent, but give me a car to take apart I would not be very intelligent. 5. I would say that I am an honest person. I dislike lying very much. Some of these things are true however, not everything that people will assume about you will always be negative. Some of the things that people assume about me are true. For example, I enjoy writing code for software for computers and playing video games. I tend to enjoy activities and hobbies that people consider are for nerds only. I took a two year electrical engineering and robotics class in high school. I enjoyed it a lot. People usually assume that I'm always angry about something. I admit that I do look angry most of the time but that's just how I look. I'm often labeled as being shy but I don't really have much to talk about with others. I would rather talk with others that are interested in the same things I am. It is better to communicate with people that are interested in the same subjects that you are also interested in instead of seeming like you are forcing yourself to communicate with people that you don't have anything in common with. I am very fortunate to have learned these lessons, because many people still do not understand the importance of accepting differences. In a group, I prefer to listen to what others have to say, and then contribute to the discussion. I try to listen so I am able to compare them to my own thoughts. For as long as I can remember, I was the only one in my grade, ever since I started school. But this did not mean I did not have friends. Caterina and I were best friends that year. One has to take all factors in hand to truly understand anxiety in people. A person's physiology also has a lot to do with the conception of one's anxiety. There has been research done by Jerome Kagan, Ph.D. at Harvard University that showed about 10–15% of children from birth to adolescence were irritable infants that made them shy and fearful as toddlers and stay reserved and introverted in their primary school years (Wardy, 2002). This shows that anxiety persists in an individual as they grow older. This actually suggests that an infant can be born with irritability and fear which pertains to the growth in anxiety as they mature. Additionally, toddlers are at age of learning and understanding their milieu and if certain preventive cautions are taken to change their irritability and fear early on, then it stays with them as they grow mature. Kagan's research also suggests that "physiological trait in certain children: they had a higher resting rate, which rose higher when they were stressed" (Wardy, 2002). One realizes that adulthood is soon kicking the door and it is a time that one strikes a difference between good and bad choices. At this crucial age, my life took the most drastic turn ever. I would be traveling in the air for about 16 hours. I had so many questions in my mind. The day came and my curiosity of the travel ended. I landed in the United States. The first scene was exciting and amusing as I had anticipated. I had never seen so many white people in life. Every child looked like a doll. Some people were too tall. The first thing that came to my mind was a sense of freedom. Life suddenly changed. I was in another country so developed and so different from Kenya, that I almost thought heaven was either alike or just a little better. I was afraid to speak. I could only feel bold to speak to my mother because I thought only she could understand anything I said. I could overhear people speak but could not comprehend most of what they said. I was not used to people speaking English with such a soft and quick tone. Slowly the reality of how new the place was new to me started hitting me. I could not speak freely and neither did I hear exactly what people were talking about. I did not have friends. I had now moved to a new school. My father mailed a box filled with Japanese sweets, to the Japanese–food–hungry me. Without my parents support, I would have been depressed for the whole 4 years at the boarding house. Lastly, I recognized bad characteristics of myself at the boarding house, where many other students live. I'm very stubborn. I get stubborn when I am choosing for something. For example, I had a small quarrel with my roommates about a shower time because I was being adamant with changing it. Another characteristic of myself I had realised is that I can get irritated quite easily. I get irritated when something is distracting me when I am concentrating. For example, I said some rude words at my friend who just came into my room when I was concentrating on my test studies. On top of that, I became aware that I am lazy. Once I was scolded for not doing the weekly duty allotted. I have recognized many bad parts of my identity, and I wish to change them in the future. To conclude, I came to value friends and family with my boarding experience. The things I value is a important part of my identity. I also started to want to Get more content on HelpWriting.net
