Persuasive Essay On Cruelty To Animals
Some people think that dog fights are okay. However, think that is it wrong and the dogs should not be put through that. It makes them aggressive
and makes it to where they cannot find a home. Not finding a home for a dog can be very sad. Only because if they do not find a home they can
possibly be put down. Seeing a dog get put down is really heartbreaking. Charges can be very bad depending on what you do. Inn California, cruelty to
animals is defined as "Maliciously and intentionally maims, mutilates, tortures, or wounds a living animal, or maliciously and intentionally kills
an animal; or overdrives, overloads, drives when overloaded, overworks, tortures, torments, deprives of necessary sustenance, drink, or shelter,
cruelly beats, mutilates, or cruelly kills any animal or causes or procures any animal to be so treated." Animals shall be seized and impounded and
ownership forfeited. These crimes may be charged as either a misdemeanor or felony, with punishment of a fine up to $20,000 and/or
imprisonment up to 1 year. If a defendant is granted probation for a conviction, the defendant must pay for and successfully complete counseling as
determined by the court. It is also a misdemeanor to carry or causes to be carried in or upon any vehicle or otherwise any domestic animal in a
cruel or inhumane manner. Exemptions are made for farming, hunting and research. The different types of animal abuse varies but the main one that
everyone knows of is dog fights. People think that dog fights are fun, exciting, or just a thrill, but when you start fighting the dogs and making them
aggressive, that prevents them from finding a loving caring home. When a dog fight gets busted and they get all the dogs out of there it would be
hard to find them a home because of their aggression. This is sad because this more than likely means that they will have to put the dog down. I
honestly do not agree with putting the dog down. Sometimes they do not want to put in the effort to make the dog better so they just take the easy
way out and just put the dog down. Animal abuse is a serious topic that occurs every day. This happens every day, everywhere. Together people could
change the world. Animal abuse is a major cause all around

Persuasive Essay On Animal Cruelty
Animal Cruelty is a problem that many ignore. People are oblivious to these animals and the negligence their owners show. Animal cruelty is an
underlying problem in today's society, and the only way to counteract these problems, is for this generation to do something about it. Many people
do not report cases of animal cruelty. Reports of animal cruelty are less common than crimes against people. This is because the cases do not go
through state agencies. The animals that come to mind when someone mentions animal cruelty is often Dogs and cats. These animals do have a
higher percent rate, with dogs at 70.1%, cats at 20.9% and all other animals at 24.1%. The percent's come from cases that people report. If people
were to fill all cases of animal cruelty, the rates would be much more different. A common form of negligence is people taking their animal to a place
far from home to just leave them there. Animal control pick up these animals everyday and send them to shelter. For the most part the animals have a
healthy portion of food and they have shelter from the environment. Most shelters are kill shelters. No–Kill shelters become less common to their
counterpart. Animals not adopted within a certain period of time undergo euthanasia. This keeps room for more animals. No–kill shelters protect the
animals and help rehabilitate them. The other 24.1% is the factory animals. The purpose of a factory animal's life is a food source. So the owners
mistreat their animals because the animals purpose is to be a food source. It is almost as if they do not matter. They deserve animal rights just as
much as the other animals do. All animals are affected by animal cruelty, even if the animal does not experience the cruelty on a personal level.
Although the ones that experience the cruelty have greater issues after the abuse. Other animals like pit bulls getting a bad name by their owners
being negligent. Pit bulls can be aggressive; they do have an aggressive nature about them. This is only when they are provoked, but these dogs are not
dangerous. If the dog is taught right than the aggression is non–existent. If the owner is negligent to the animal and abuses the dog, it often brings out
the more mean side of the dog. The

Shelby Ellwanger English 10 Honors Mrs. Kirkpatrick 30 November 2017 Animal Jail Imagine a baby tiger running around the savannah. He
looks like he is having a blast, being able to roam free. Suddenly, a man comes out of nowhere and captures the tiger and puts him in a cage in the
back of a van. A few days later the tiger is released into a new unfamiliar habitat with walls blocking him off from the rest of the world. That is
where the tiger will spend the rest of his life. This is called animal captivity. Places like zoos, amusement parks, circuses, and aquariums capture
animals from the wild so they can make money off of people that pay to see these animals. Wild animals do not belong in cages. They belong in the
wild where they can't be restricted. They deserve to run free, just like humans do. Elephants are one of the worst treated animals in zoos and
circuses. Their life spans are dramatically shorter than elephants who live in the wild. Out of 321 elephants that are/were being held captive, at least
half of them were dead by the age of 23, while elephants living in the wild can live up to 60 years. "[T]he decades long effort by zoos to preserve and
protect elephants is failing, exacerbated by substandard conditions and denial of mounting scientific evidence that most elephants do not thrive in
captivity," (Seattle Times). Dr. Bekoff, the former University of Colorado professor, found an investigation that the Seattle Times had done and found

Something that I haven't consider is how the way they kill the animals to get the meat. And how they are treated. They should at least not kill them like
that. It horrible the way they do. They are not thinking what pain and suffer the animals go through when they are killing them savagely. And how they
treat them is no way any human should be treating an animal. They should really consider other ways of doing it but not in a savagely way.
When chickens are put in cages they are all being stuffed together and they can even stretch out their wings or even some of them don't even get to
see the sun of light or even smell fresh air from outside because they are all in cages. When they get them out, some farmers throw them around until
they are dead. They will bash their heads with their cages. Or some of the farmers will slice their throat. When they kill a baby chicken, they don't even
let them grow. Ones they are hatch they get killed. Some of the farmers throw the chickens all together in a bag so they could suffocate or they will
throw them into a machine so they could be killed. It's horrible because they take them away from their mother when they hatch. When the cows are
killed it is horrible they put them a machine that spins them around and then they slice their throat. They're still alive when they throw them and live
them to die. You could hear themsuffering. They don't even bother cleaning up after them they just leave them all together. Some

Persuasive Essay On Animal Abuse
Why would anyone abuse an animal? Animal abuse is rather common, you could be doing it even if you don't think you are. There are many animals
that deal with abuse or neglect, about 1,423 animals a year. That's in the U.S. alone. Animals are living creatures, just like you, and they're not cheap.
Neglect is another version of abuse, and it can come in many forms. Neglect could be starving them, not giving them medical care, not paying attention
to them, etc, etc. Animals are just like humans, I mean, sure they can't make their own meals, and they can't drive a car, but that doesn't mean they have
fewer rights than you do. If an animal is abused or neglected the animal will be taken and the owner should be charged. If someone abuses an...show

This is the simplest thing to understand. You must take care of your pets, money is only an object. Your pet is family, your pet will be with you
through everything if you treat them correctly. Again, pets aren't cheap. Food for a dog or cat can cost $5.00– $30.00 alone. A pet is like a child. They
depend on you to keep them alive and healthy.
There are many animals who deal with abuse everyday, and that is not okay. If an animal is neglected or abused the pet will be taken away and the
caretaker will be charged $1,500. Animals are very loyal, such as dogs, dogs are one of the most loyal animals you can own. When abused, they
don't know where they went wrong. They only know that you are mad at them. Animals, such as humans, shouldn't be abused or neglected. Most
animals who are abused or neglected are usually abused unintentionally, but the second most are abused on purpose. The people who abuse animals
on purpose sometimes deal with mental illnesses, were abused as children, or have a hard time dealing with stress or anger. Animals are just like
humans who have been abused. They are usually skittish and shy. People tend to see animals differently than humans, but they are the same in my
eyes. For example, if I locked you in my basement, starved, and beat you, I'd be charged with attempted murder and kidnapping. Pets have the same
rights as you to live freely, but people don't see it. You are able to live on your own and take care of yourself, but they

Imagine being thrown in cage, beaten, starved or forced to do something for no reason... other than someone else's entertainment. We have all seen
those ASPCA commercials showing depressing pictures of beaten and starved animals asking for help, yet animal cruelty/abuse is still a major
problem. Even though on average, 1,920 animal cruelty cases are reported in the media each year, thousands of cases are unreported or unnoticed
by the public (Animal Cruelty Facts and Stats). Regardless of animal cruelty being a felony which can result in jail time and thousands of dollars
in fines, it is still something which occurs on a daily basis across the United States and it needs to be addressed in affective ways. To understand
the issue, we must define key terms related to animal cruelty. Animal cruelty is defined " legally... as any act of violence or neglect that inflicts
suffering or death on an animal" and it consists of two parts: passive and active (Animal Cruelty). Passive cruelty is when animals are neglected by
their owners, usually unknowingly or unwillingly. For example, when a person hoards dozens of animals at a time and doesn't have the means to
care for every single one of them, the animals are withheld the necessary care like food, water, shelter, veterinary care, etc. Active cruelty, on the
other hand, is when an animal is abused with the intention of inflicting injury or death. This is seen in bloodsport, like dogfighting, in torture,
beating, mutilation, poisoning, or shooting or when the animal is kept in a confined cage (Animal Cruelty). Active cruelty is also seen in puppy
mills or in situations that turn a profit, like trafficking or animal breeding. The USDA provides many guidelines regarding the care standards of the
animals in the breeding mills, however most of them have up to a thousand breeding animals so their care comes second to the profit they make off
of the offsprings. As early as five BC, Greek scientists have cut open live animals to study their inner workings and used them to test whether or not
drugs were safe to administer to humans. In 1876, England passed the Cruelty to Animals Act, which gave researchers certain guidelines to abide to in
order to get a license to test on

Over the years, real life animals have been used for entertainment purposes, it was most likely to engage the audience in learning about that specific
animal and it helps grow love for that animal. Today, animals are seen doing show stopping tricks whether it be on TV, circuses, or theme parks.
However, are we unintentionally exploiting these animals to situations that they should not have to deal with? Specifically, cases of wild animals that
follow their primal instinct to survive in their selective habitats. The audience witnessing these commercials, ads, and shows may feel adoration for
these animals but the facts are that for these wild animals confinement is detrimental, their quality of life diminishes, and stunts performed are unnatural.
Ultimately, animal cruelty is unprovoked harm inflicted on an animal. However, that begs the question of what should be considered animal cruelty?
Today, fields like medicine and cosmetic brands are creating new products and therefore need to test it out before sold for human use. As a
consequence, many individuals question the integrity of testing on animals and begin to question the treatment of animals overall. With that said, how
much of this cruel treatment from the entertainment industry can these animals cope with?
For instance, beloved orcas at SeaWorld like Tilikum and Sakari had to endure years of stress due to the small tanks that they were housed in. These
tanks are about the size of a penny compared to the vast ocean

Animal cruelty is defined as a crime of inflicting pain, suffering, or death on an animal beyond necessary means for normal discipline. This crime
comes in many different forms; it is not only limited to neglect and domestic animal abuse, but it can also be seen in today's "entertainment" industry.
Although it is frequently overlooked, animals are being mistreated in various famous places that attract large crowds: SeaWorld, zoos, and the circus.
The use of animals for entertainment purposes should unequivocally constitute animal cruelty.
Animals involved in the industry suffer tremendously. During an interview with PETA, Heather Rally, a wildlife veterinarian shared her views on
SeaWorld, "There is no doubt that all marine mammals bred in SeaWorld aresuffering" she admitted (Martin). There is plenty of evidence to support
the notion that the animals at SeaWorld are suffering both emotionally and physically. Sarah Fischbeck worked atSeaWorld San Diego for six years and
was exposed to the dark, brutal side of the emplacement. She assured that if people knew or saw what she had seen, SeaWorld would not be able to
sell another ticket (Schelling). Because orcas are snatched from their families and compelled to live in habitats and social situations that bear scant
resemblance to their natural environment and order, they become stressed and aggressive. In the wild, whales swim up to a hundred miles a day, but at
SeaWorld that would be completely unattainable because they are

Now, I'm not an advocate for animal cruelty in any way, but this dog has been known to be rather clumsy. From falling down stairs to face planting
after tripping over his own feet, my dog is clumsier than most humans. The many times my family and I have had a good laugh or a moment of fear

was raised with this dog, along with a cat that did not like me when I was younger because of my tendency to pull his tail and ears. My dog taught
me how to love animals through their ups and downs, because there were many downs on the rollercoaster that comes with owning a dog. As a
young rescue, he was extremely nervous to be in a new environment. We did not know whether or not he was abused before he was rescued, but his
nervous tendencies made us believe that something must have happened to make him behave in such a way. By nervous tendencies, I don't mean
avoiding human contact or being violent, no instead he decided to relieve himself on my dads shoes almost the minute we got him home for the
first time. This would be one of the first of many times that we would laugh through our slight annoyance of what this dog has done. I became the
one to feed and bathe the dog, take him outside when he needed to go and take him on the occasional walk (by occasional I mean almost never)
around the block. Owning a dog taught me my first lessons in responsibility. I had to remember to feed him when it was time and bathe him if he
started to stink, even though my parents would do it for me if I forgot or refused. It was my job to pick up any accidents made in the house even if I
didn't want to. I learned to love something other than my family and myself. As I grew older, he grew with me, getting older everyday. He slowed
and eventually lost interest in playing fetch. He began to sleep more than he already did, which was a lot. But he was still my dog, he still had a
bright personality and lit up at the opportunity to eat something that wasn't his daily dose of dog kibble. He was still my family. Slowly he became

Paul McCartney once said, "if slaughterhouses had glass walls, we would all be vegetarian." There are many different forms of animal cruelty, ranging
from labs, to farms, to even circuses. People have been using animals for a long time, they have controlled them for even longer. But despite that, there
have still been some positive outcomes from this otherwise dark subject. Some people support the things that are happening to these animals. But
others make it their mission to stand up for the animals that are mistreated everyday. Animal cruelty can mean many things to many different people, it
can be a controversial topic, with many different sides and stories to it, it has a long history, much of it being good, much of it bad.
There are more types of animal cruelty then one could even imagine. Many people do not consider that what they are eating, or wearing, or using, or
enjoying came at the cost of an animal. According to Rachel Hajar, one form of animal cruelty that has been put into the spotlight in recent years is
animal testing (Alternative to Animal Testing 39). Animals are brought into labs and spend their entire lives there being tortured, used, and
experimented on. It's estimated that each year, more than 100 million animals are used for experimenting. They use all sorts of animals, including
dogs, cats, rabbits, hamsters, monkeys, fish, and more. They are forced to live in cages, confined, and isolated. Another form of animal cruelty can be

If animals could talk, what would they say? They would stand up for themselves. As you read these, another innocent animal is being abused,

zoos and circuses are abused. They are used for testing, although there are many other alternatives. Companies use them for their leather and fur
products. Circuses force them to do tricks and keep them in cages. There are millions of animals abused worldwide even though you may not notice
it. Signs of abuse range from a pet not getting the needed water or food, to being physically beaten and abandoned. People neglect animals all the time.

Although, the animals are not alive when they are skinned down still does not make it okay. The animals are put to sleep in order for them to do
this. Also, it probably wouldn't work if they were alive because the animals would try to run. Believe it or not, cats and dogs are used for their skin
in Asia for products that are sold to the United States (Is It True That Some). The clothing company Gucci announced they would stop selling fur

Carding, brings to light one of the solutions to stop animal cruelty that has been ignored lately. Most U.S. communities require a licensure for all
dogs starting at 4 to 6 months of age, but in my opinion it might be even more beneficial to require licensure as soon as a pup's eye are open, or when
a dog first changes owners, establishing ownership at the earliest practical time. Also, an anti–abandonment program can be beneficial, if we focus on
finding the owner rather than impounding the free–roaming pet. Such an approach would reduce the need for more animal shelters, and also will be a
solution to the extensive expenses for impoundment and euthanasia. In this article the authors state that: "The right to keep a pet also put a
responsibility to the owner to prevent his animal from harming or annoying people and degrading the environment. Clearly, many pet owners do not
accept their responsibility." Also he points out that "Veterinarians and other health authorities who bear official responsibility for animal control rarely
give adequate attention to free–roaming animals." That being said, I strongly agree that free–roaming animals should be taken away from their owners,
who clearly do not have any intention to take care of them. According to the above article, free–roaming animals increase the animal violence, not only

About 1 million animals per year are abused because of domestic violence that occurs in the home where they live. "Animal cruelty can be either
deliberate abuse or simply the failure to take care of an animal. Either way, and whether the animal is a pet, a farm animal or wildlife, the victim can
suffer terribly. Don't despair, though–anyone can take steps against cruelty." People should stop animal cruelty because hurting the animals can make
the animals population go down and it can also make the animals stressed and upset.
One reason animal cruelty should stop is because it can cause the animal's population to decrease.

home–improvement store in Tucson." The dog could of have had died while it was hanging from the tree. But the dog only had a minimal injury.
Conversely, this quote shows that zoos are good for the animals and the people because the people get to learn about the animals. "Jack Hanna, a
part–time Jupiter resident and one of the world's best–known animal experts, has a message... Zoos, are necessary and indispensable....The primary
responsibility of zoos, is educating the people who visit annually. 35 percent said the zoo reinforced their existing beliefs about conservation. It's that
kind of personal connection that makes people want to protect animals and conserve their environments." Visitors who visit the zoo do not see a
problem with

Persuasive Essay On Cruelty To Animals

  • 1. Persuasive Essay On Cruelty To Animals Some people think that dog fights are okay. However, think that is it wrong and the dogs should not be put through that. It makes them aggressive and makes it to where they cannot find a home. Not finding a home for a dog can be very sad. Only because if they do not find a home they can possibly be put down. Seeing a dog get put down is really heartbreaking. Charges can be very bad depending on what you do. Inn California, cruelty to animals is defined as "Maliciously and intentionally maims, mutilates, tortures, or wounds a living animal, or maliciously and intentionally kills an animal; or overdrives, overloads, drives when overloaded, overworks, tortures, torments, deprives of necessary sustenance, drink, or shelter, cruelly beats, mutilates, or cruelly kills any animal or causes or procures any animal to be so treated." Animals shall be seized and impounded and ownership forfeited. These crimes may be charged as either a misdemeanor or felony, with punishment of a fine up to $20,000 and/or imprisonment up to 1 year. If a defendant is granted probation for a conviction, the defendant must pay for and successfully complete counseling as determined by the court. It is also a misdemeanor to carry or causes to be carried in or upon any vehicle or otherwise any domestic animal in a cruel or inhumane manner. Exemptions are made for farming, hunting and research. The different types of animal abuse varies but the main one that everyone knows of is dog fights. People think that dog fights are fun, exciting, or just a thrill, but when you start fighting the dogs and making them aggressive, that prevents them from finding a loving caring home. When a dog fight gets busted and they get all the dogs out of there it would be hard to find them a home because of their aggression. This is sad because this more than likely means that they will have to put the dog down. I honestly do not agree with putting the dog down. Sometimes they do not want to put in the effort to make the dog better so they just take the easy way out and just put the dog down. Animal abuse is a serious topic that occurs every day. This happens every day, everywhere. Together people could change the world. Animal abuse is a major cause all around Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 3. Persuasive Essay On Animal Cruelty Animal Cruelty is a problem that many ignore. People are oblivious to these animals and the negligence their owners show. Animal cruelty is an underlying problem in today's society, and the only way to counteract these problems, is for this generation to do something about it. Many people do not report cases of animal cruelty. Reports of animal cruelty are less common than crimes against people. This is because the cases do not go through state agencies. The animals that come to mind when someone mentions animal cruelty is often Dogs and cats. These animals do have a higher percent rate, with dogs at 70.1%, cats at 20.9% and all other animals at 24.1%. The percent's come from cases that people report. If people were to fill all cases of animal cruelty, the rates would be much more different. A common form of negligence is people taking their animal to a place far from home to just leave them there. Animal control pick up these animals everyday and send them to shelter. For the most part the animals have a healthy portion of food and they have shelter from the environment. Most shelters are kill shelters. No–Kill shelters become less common to their counterpart. Animals not adopted within a certain period of time undergo euthanasia. This keeps room for more animals. No–kill shelters protect the animals and help rehabilitate them. The other 24.1% is the factory animals. The purpose of a factory animal's life is a food source. So the owners mistreat their animals because the animals purpose is to be a food source. It is almost as if they do not matter. They deserve animal rights just as much as the other animals do. All animals are affected by animal cruelty, even if the animal does not experience the cruelty on a personal level. Although the ones that experience the cruelty have greater issues after the abuse. Other animals like pit bulls getting a bad name by their owners being negligent. Pit bulls can be aggressive; they do have an aggressive nature about them. This is only when they are provoked, but these dogs are not dangerous. If the dog is taught right than the aggression is non–existent. If the owner is negligent to the animal and abuses the dog, it often brings out the more mean side of the dog. The Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Persuasive Essay On Animal Cruelty Shelby Ellwanger English 10 Honors Mrs. Kirkpatrick 30 November 2017 Animal Jail Imagine a baby tiger running around the savannah. He looks like he is having a blast, being able to roam free. Suddenly, a man comes out of nowhere and captures the tiger and puts him in a cage in the back of a van. A few days later the tiger is released into a new unfamiliar habitat with walls blocking him off from the rest of the world. That is where the tiger will spend the rest of his life. This is called animal captivity. Places like zoos, amusement parks, circuses, and aquariums capture animals from the wild so they can make money off of people that pay to see these animals. Wild animals do not belong in cages. They belong in the wild where they can't be restricted. They deserve to run free, just like humans do. Elephants are one of the worst treated animals in zoos and circuses. Their life spans are dramatically shorter than elephants who live in the wild. Out of 321 elephants that are/were being held captive, at least half of them were dead by the age of 23, while elephants living in the wild can live up to 60 years. "[T]he decades long effort by zoos to preserve and protect elephants is failing, exacerbated by substandard conditions and denial of mounting scientific evidence that most elephants do not thrive in captivity," (Seattle Times). Dr. Bekoff, the former University of Colorado professor, found an investigation that the Seattle Times had done and found that in the last 50 years Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Speech On Animal Cruelty Animal Cruelty Something that I haven't consider is how the way they kill the animals to get the meat. And how they are treated. They should at least not kill them like that. It horrible the way they do. They are not thinking what pain and suffer the animals go through when they are killing them savagely. And how they treat them is no way any human should be treating an animal. They should really consider other ways of doing it but not in a savagely way. When chickens are put in cages they are all being stuffed together and they can even stretch out their wings or even some of them don't even get to see the sun of light or even smell fresh air from outside because they are all in cages. When they get them out, some farmers throw them around until they are dead. They will bash their heads with their cages. Or some of the farmers will slice their throat. When they kill a baby chicken, they don't even let them grow. Ones they are hatch they get killed. Some of the farmers throw the chickens all together in a bag so they could suffocate or they will throw them into a machine so they could be killed. It's horrible because they take them away from their mother when they hatch. When the cows are killed it is horrible they put them a machine that spins them around and then they slice their throat. They're still alive when they throw them and live them to die. You could hear themsuffering. They don't even bother cleaning up after them they just leave them all together. • 6. Persuasive Essay On Animal Abuse Why would anyone abuse an animal? Animal abuse is rather common, you could be doing it even if you don't think you are. There are many animals that deal with abuse or neglect, about 1,423 animals a year. That's in the U.S. alone. Animals are living creatures, just like you, and they're not cheap. Neglect is another version of abuse, and it can come in many forms. Neglect could be starving them, not giving them medical care, not paying attention to them, etc, etc. Animals are just like humans, I mean, sure they can't make their own meals, and they can't drive a car, but that doesn't mean they have fewer rights than you do. If an animal is abused or neglected the animal will be taken and the owner should be charged. If someone abuses an...show more content... This is the simplest thing to understand. You must take care of your pets, money is only an object. Your pet is family, your pet will be with you through everything if you treat them correctly. Again, pets aren't cheap. Food for a dog or cat can cost $5.00– $30.00 alone. A pet is like a child. They depend on you to keep them alive and healthy. There are many animals who deal with abuse everyday, and that is not okay. If an animal is neglected or abused the pet will be taken away and the caretaker will be charged $1,500. Animals are very loyal, such as dogs, dogs are one of the most loyal animals you can own. When abused, they don't know where they went wrong. They only know that you are mad at them. Animals, such as humans, shouldn't be abused or neglected. Most animals who are abused or neglected are usually abused unintentionally, but the second most are abused on purpose. The people who abuse animals on purpose sometimes deal with mental illnesses, were abused as children, or have a hard time dealing with stress or anger. Animals are just like humans who have been abused. They are usually skittish and shy. People tend to see animals differently than humans, but they are the same in my eyes. For example, if I locked you in my basement, starved, and beat you, I'd be charged with attempted murder and kidnapping. Pets have the same rights as you to live freely, but people don't see it. You are able to live on your own and take care of yourself, but they Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. Persuasive Essay On Animal Abuse Imagine being thrown in cage, beaten, starved or forced to do something for no reason... other than someone else's entertainment. We have all seen those ASPCA commercials showing depressing pictures of beaten and starved animals asking for help, yet animal cruelty/abuse is still a major problem. Even though on average, 1,920 animal cruelty cases are reported in the media each year, thousands of cases are unreported or unnoticed by the public (Animal Cruelty Facts and Stats). Regardless of animal cruelty being a felony which can result in jail time and thousands of dollars in fines, it is still something which occurs on a daily basis across the United States and it needs to be addressed in affective ways. To understand the issue, we must define key terms related to animal cruelty. Animal cruelty is defined " legally... as any act of violence or neglect that inflicts suffering or death on an animal" and it consists of two parts: passive and active (Animal Cruelty). Passive cruelty is when animals are neglected by their owners, usually unknowingly or unwillingly. For example, when a person hoards dozens of animals at a time and doesn't have the means to care for every single one of them, the animals are withheld the necessary care like food, water, shelter, veterinary care, etc. Active cruelty, on the other hand, is when an animal is abused with the intention of inflicting injury or death. This is seen in bloodsport, like dogfighting, in torture, beating, mutilation, poisoning, or shooting or when the animal is kept in a confined cage (Animal Cruelty). Active cruelty is also seen in puppy mills or in situations that turn a profit, like trafficking or animal breeding. The USDA provides many guidelines regarding the care standards of the animals in the breeding mills, however most of them have up to a thousand breeding animals so their care comes second to the profit they make off of the offsprings. As early as five BC, Greek scientists have cut open live animals to study their inner workings and used them to test whether or not drugs were safe to administer to humans. In 1876, England passed the Cruelty to Animals Act, which gave researchers certain guidelines to abide to in order to get a license to test on Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. Persuasive Essay On Animal Cruelty Over the years, real life animals have been used for entertainment purposes, it was most likely to engage the audience in learning about that specific animal and it helps grow love for that animal. Today, animals are seen doing show stopping tricks whether it be on TV, circuses, or theme parks. However, are we unintentionally exploiting these animals to situations that they should not have to deal with? Specifically, cases of wild animals that follow their primal instinct to survive in their selective habitats. The audience witnessing these commercials, ads, and shows may feel adoration for these animals but the facts are that for these wild animals confinement is detrimental, their quality of life diminishes, and stunts performed are unnatural. Ultimately, animal cruelty is unprovoked harm inflicted on an animal. However, that begs the question of what should be considered animal cruelty? Today, fields like medicine and cosmetic brands are creating new products and therefore need to test it out before sold for human use. As a consequence, many individuals question the integrity of testing on animals and begin to question the treatment of animals overall. With that said, how much of this cruel treatment from the entertainment industry can these animals cope with? For instance, beloved orcas at SeaWorld like Tilikum and Sakari had to endure years of stress due to the small tanks that they were housed in. These tanks are about the size of a penny compared to the vast ocean Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. Persuasive Essay On Animal Cruelty Animal cruelty is defined as a crime of inflicting pain, suffering, or death on an animal beyond necessary means for normal discipline. This crime comes in many different forms; it is not only limited to neglect and domestic animal abuse, but it can also be seen in today's "entertainment" industry. Although it is frequently overlooked, animals are being mistreated in various famous places that attract large crowds: SeaWorld, zoos, and the circus. The use of animals for entertainment purposes should unequivocally constitute animal cruelty. Animals involved in the industry suffer tremendously. During an interview with PETA, Heather Rally, a wildlife veterinarian shared her views on SeaWorld, "There is no doubt that all marine mammals bred in SeaWorld aresuffering" she admitted (Martin). There is plenty of evidence to support the notion that the animals at SeaWorld are suffering both emotionally and physically. Sarah Fischbeck worked atSeaWorld San Diego for six years and was exposed to the dark, brutal side of the emplacement. She assured that if people knew or saw what she had seen, SeaWorld would not be able to sell another ticket (Schelling). Because orcas are snatched from their families and compelled to live in habitats and social situations that bear scant resemblance to their natural environment and order, they become stressed and aggressive. In the wild, whales swim up to a hundred miles a day, but at SeaWorld that would be completely unattainable because they are Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. Persuasive Essay On Animal Cruelty Now, I'm not an advocate for animal cruelty in any way, but this dog has been known to be rather clumsy. From falling down stairs to face planting after tripping over his own feet, my dog is clumsier than most humans. The many times my family and I have had a good laugh or a moment of fear could fill a short novel. He has been a source of happiness for my family and myself and has kept me running even when I felt I was at my lowest. I was raised with this dog, along with a cat that did not like me when I was younger because of my tendency to pull his tail and ears. My dog taught me how to love animals through their ups and downs, because there were many downs on the rollercoaster that comes with owning a dog. As a young rescue, he was extremely nervous to be in a new environment. We did not know whether or not he was abused before he was rescued, but his nervous tendencies made us believe that something must have happened to make him behave in such a way. By nervous tendencies, I don't mean avoiding human contact or being violent, no instead he decided to relieve himself on my dads shoes almost the minute we got him home for the first time. This would be one of the first of many times that we would laugh through our slight annoyance of what this dog has done. I became the one to feed and bathe the dog, take him outside when he needed to go and take him on the occasional walk (by occasional I mean almost never) around the block. Owning a dog taught me my first lessons in responsibility. I had to remember to feed him when it was time and bathe him if he started to stink, even though my parents would do it for me if I forgot or refused. It was my job to pick up any accidents made in the house even if I didn't want to. I learned to love something other than my family and myself. As I grew older, he grew with me, getting older everyday. He slowed and eventually lost interest in playing fetch. He began to sleep more than he already did, which was a lot. But he was still my dog, he still had a bright personality and lit up at the opportunity to eat something that wasn't his daily dose of dog kibble. He was still my family. Slowly he became what my family and I call "old man." When we pass by him in the house or Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. Persuasive Speech About Animal Cruelty You want to know something horrify and heartbreaking? People say they love animals but that's false. Something that animal lovers don't know is that 56 billion farmed animals are killed every year by humans and 200 million animals are reported killed by hunters in the United States every year. Treating animals for their fur and bones is not good for them and us. There meat can cause cancer, using their belongings is depressing and there should be more compassionate for them. I see animals as humans because they can feel happiness, sadness, anger and lastly pain. • 12. Persuasive Essay On Animal Cruelty Animal Cruelty Paul McCartney once said, "if slaughterhouses had glass walls, we would all be vegetarian." There are many different forms of animal cruelty, ranging from labs, to farms, to even circuses. People have been using animals for a long time, they have controlled them for even longer. But despite that, there have still been some positive outcomes from this otherwise dark subject. Some people support the things that are happening to these animals. But others make it their mission to stand up for the animals that are mistreated everyday. Animal cruelty can mean many things to many different people, it can be a controversial topic, with many different sides and stories to it, it has a long history, much of it being good, much of it bad. There are more types of animal cruelty then one could even imagine. Many people do not consider that what they are eating, or wearing, or using, or enjoying came at the cost of an animal. According to Rachel Hajar, one form of animal cruelty that has been put into the spotlight in recent years is animal testing (Alternative to Animal Testing 39). Animals are brought into labs and spend their entire lives there being tortured, used, and experimented on. It's estimated that each year, more than 100 million animals are used for experimenting. They use all sorts of animals, including dogs, cats, rabbits, hamsters, monkeys, fish, and more. They are forced to live in cages, confined, and isolated. Although we have laws against animal abuse, the epidemic isn't really taken as seriously through all of Texas. Great organizations such as the San Antonio Humane Society, are only the small portion of individuals wanting to make a difference in the fight against animal cruelty. I feel as if the main council of Texas is only briefly looking over the actual problem occuring in our cities. How would we be able to fund these organizations? I realize that the financing would be a problem to come by, but if the main capital paid more attention to this dilemma, then everyone else would also understand Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Carding, brings to light one of the solutions to stop animal cruelty that has been ignored lately. Most U.S. communities require a licensure for all dogs starting at 4 to 6 months of age, but in my opinion it might be even more beneficial to require licensure as soon as a pup's eye are open, or when a dog first changes owners, establishing ownership at the earliest practical time. Also, an anti–abandonment program can be beneficial, if we focus on finding the owner rather than impounding the free–roaming pet. Such an approach would reduce the need for more animal shelters, and also will be a solution to the extensive expenses for impoundment and euthanasia. In this article the authors state that: "The right to keep a pet also put a responsibility to the owner to prevent his animal from harming or annoying people and degrading the environment. Clearly, many pet owners do not accept their responsibility." Also he points out that "Veterinarians and other health authorities who bear official responsibility for animal control rarely give adequate attention to free–roaming animals." That being said, I strongly agree that free–roaming animals should be taken away from their owners, who clearly do not have any intention to take care of them. According to the above article, free–roaming animals increase the animal violence, not only human to animal, but even Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 19. Persuasive Essay On Animal Abuse About 1 million animals per year are abused because of domestic violence that occurs in the home where they live. "Animal cruelty can be either deliberate abuse or simply the failure to take care of an animal. Either way, and whether the animal is a pet, a farm animal or wildlife, the victim can suffer terribly. Don't despair, though–anyone can take steps against cruelty." People should stop animal cruelty because hurting the animals can make the animals population go down and it can also make the animals stressed and upset. One reason animal cruelty should stop is because it can cause the animal's population to decrease. People at the Fuzhou Zoo were throwing bricks at two kangaroos to make them jump."They had been minding their own business......show more content... They are being cruelty to the animals by doing things to their body. Someone had hung a dog from a tree behind a store. The teen climbed up and freed the dog from material wrapped around its neck. Pima Animal Care Center says the dog suffered minimal injury from the hanging. "Officials say a teen rescued a dog that she found hanging from a tree behind a home–improvement store in Tucson." The dog could of have had died while it was hanging from the tree. But the dog only had a minimal injury. Conversely, this quote shows that zoos are good for the animals and the people because the people get to learn about the animals. "Jack Hanna, a part–time Jupiter resident and one of the world's best–known animal experts, has a message... Zoos, are necessary and indispensable....The primary responsibility of zoos, is educating the people who visit annually. 35 percent said the zoo reinforced their existing beliefs about conservation.
