What Can We Do to Stop Global Warming
What can we do to Stop Global Warming? Climate change may be a big problem, but there are many little things we can do to make a difference. If
we try, most of us can do our part to reduce the amount of greenhouse gases that we put into the atmosphere. Many greenhouse gases come from
things we do every day. As we have learned, these greenhouse gases trap energy in the atmosphere and make the Earth warmer. Some of these gasses
occur naturally while others are caused by humans. The most common of these gasses that are causing the earth to heat up is the gas carbon dioxide
(CO2). According to the ICCP the CO2 emissions have grown between 1970 and 2004 by eighty percent. Emissions rose by 15.8 percent from 1990
through 2004 and emissions and...show more content...
One third of the landfills in the United States have closed since 1980, and more than half the cities on the East Coast will run out of room in their
landfills by 1990. In New York, 14 sites have closed in the past 10 years. (Squidoo) With all of these places either closing or being full very soon
we are running out of space to put all the trash. Some say that we should just burn our garbage but when garbage is burned, it can release dangerous
gases into the air. Each year Americans throw away 1.6 billion pens, 2 billion razors, 220 million tires, and enough aluminum to rebuild the entire U.S.
commercial airline fleet. Dr. Timothy F. Ball is one skeptic ofglobal warming and has published articles in the Canada Free Press and other news
papers. Dr. Ball has a Ph.D. in climatology from the University Of London England. Scientists like Dr. Ball believe that global warming is a myth,
he believes that the climate changes we have been experiencing in the last few decades are well "within natural variability and explained quite
easily by changes in the sun." He says there is nothing unusual going on with regards to global warming because it does not exist. Dr. Ball is quoted
in the Canada Free Press news paper (CFP) saying that the belief of global warming "is the greatest deception in the history of science." Also, that
"We are wasting time, energy and trillions of dollars." (CFP) This Dr. of climatology believes

Global Warming is the gradual increase in the overall temperature of the earth 's atmosphere generally attributed to the greenhouse effect caused by
increased levels of carbon dioxide and other pollutants. These pollutants are produced by factories, cars, and even people and animals. Global Warming
is a major concern because it affects all life forms and is changing the earth entirely. As the problem continues to grow, individuals must do their part to
help prevent it. The biggest pollutants in our atmosphere are Carbon dioxide, Methane, and nitrous oxide. Carbon dioxide is released into the
atmosphere by burning fossil fuels such as coal, natural gas and oil for energy. Electricity production is the biggest cause of carbon emissions in the
United States. Transportation is the second biggest cause of emissions and factory production is the third biggest cause. Humans and animals also
play a small role in carbon emissions because we exhale carbon dioxide. Transportation mainly consists of personal automobiles which is why the
search for a new way to power cars is so important. To help prevent carbon emissions many new cars use electric to help produce less carbon
emissions and reduce the burning of fossil fuels. These cars are charged at home, but still require electricity made from power plants which are burning
fossil fuels and producing carbon emissions.

Global Warming Essay
Global warming is the process in which the Earth's temperature starts increasing. This happens because industry, fossil fuels, agricultural processes
caused by human, natural, and other gas emissions, this factors increase greenhouse gases, greenhouse gases are made up of carbon dioxide, methane
and nitrous oxide. The greenhouse gases stay in the atmosphere and prevent the suns warming rays to leave the Earth. So the sun's warming rays stay
inside the Earth increasing its average temperature. Global warming isn't the end of the world, it's just a natural process in which the Earth cleans or
rinse organisms.
Now a days the Automobiles, heat from homes and businesses, and factories are responsible for about 80% of today's carbon dioxide...show more

Lastly many bodies of water become polluted thanks to all the gasses in the atmosphere that mix with the clouds and fall as acid rain polluting rivers,
and lakes and killing many animals. All of theses factors change our daily life and can ruin whole species, and all of this is because of temperature
changes.
Many scientific methods of controlling or lowering the Earth's temperature are being researched; these can also be called geoengineering.
Geoengineering is a method in which scientists can change the levels of greenhouse gases directly or indirectly. Also there could be methods that
prevent greenhouse gasses to be emitted. There have never been any geoengineering solutions done on a global scale since it has to be almost proof
less. But there have been some ideas that are being use on a small scale like the iron fertilization; this is a process in which iron is injected into the
oceans to speed up the reproduction of plankton which breath carbon dioxide and emit oxygen, this is one solution that seems to have the least side
effects thanks to the reason I just presented and also due to that plankton are the base of many marine animals food chain. So this method is being
widely researched to see if it can be done on a global scale. Not only is lowering the levels of gases in the air important, but also lowering the level of
gases we emit, and there have been many scientific breakthroughs like solar energy or cars that run

Reducing Global Warming Essay
Reducing Global Warming Our planet, Earth, is surrounded by a shield of atmospheric gases consisting primarily of nitrogen and oxygen. The sun
produces radiation which is most intense at short wavelengths. The atmosphere is almost transparent to this radiation and is absorbed by the earth's
surface. When the land and sea are warm they radiate the energy they have absorbed at a longer wavelength, some is reabsorbed and re–radiated back
to earth by atmospheric gases. Although eventually escaping into space, it is retained long enough to warm the atmosphere. This is the greenhouse
effect, and the gases causing it are greenhouse gases.
Without global warming, the earth's...show more content...
When forests are cleared or burnt CO2, methane and nitrous oxide are released into the atmosphere. Each year, deforestation contributes 23–30 percent
of overall CO2 in the atmosphere by countries such as Brazil, Indonesia, Burma, Mexico and Thailand. Therefore, while more and more carbon dioxide
is being released into the atmosphere, there are less and less forests to remove it. Deforestation both releases huge amounts CO2 into our atmosphere
and destroys our means of absorbing and storing this substance. The destruction of the earths forests not only contribute to global warming, but also
undermine the long–term ability of the Earth's atmosphere to neutralize green house gases. The Earth's defence mechanism against pollutants are called
'trace radicals;' gas molecules which interact with greenhouse gases, making them harmless. There are limited quantities of these trace radicals in the
atmosphere, and as more greenhouse gases are released more trace radicals are used up. This diminishes the Earth's ability to stabilize the atmosphere.
The causes of deforestation are varied. The most important include logging, the conversion of forested land for agriculture and cattle raising,
urbanization, mining and oil exploitation. However there has been a tendency of

How to Stop Global Warming Essay
Each year, over 7.2 billion tonnes of carbon dioxide is released into the atmosphere by human activity. That is the equivalent of 110 million airplanes
all being in the air at once! These disturbing numbers are the foremost cause of global warming, and have been steadily growing over the past few
decades. Global warming is caused by this recent surge of greenhouse gasses which consists primarily of carbon dioxide.
Carbon dioxide isn't harmful to the atmosphere in the amount that is produced naturally from decaying trees, volcanic eruptions, etc., because the
forests act as a natural recycling system. However, humans burning fossil fuels, demolishing forests, and using chemical fertilizers are causing an
enormous surplus of carbon...show more content...
The core purpose of carbon dioxide existing in the atmosphere is to trap the heat acquired from sunlight and not let it past the atmosphere. It's because
of the carbon dioxide in the atmosphere that Earth's atmosphere is warm enough to sustain human life. When there is a large increase in the proportion
of carbon dioxide in the air, the quantity of heat caught by the carbon dioxide also increases. This in turn contributes to the total rise in the surface
temperature of the earth. Due to this rise in temperature in ice in the Arctic is melting, which is causing the sea level to rise.
Dr. Leonard Berry from the FAU Climate Change Initiative stated that "The ocean has risen six inches over the course of the last twenty–five years"
("Water..." n.pag.).
A major contributor to global warming is fossil fuels. Fossil fuels are used for everything from generating electricity from turbines to powering
vehicles. In the last few centuries the economy has been growing so rapidly that the need for energy from fossil fuels has reached new heights. Upon
the burning of fossil fuels, numerous gases like carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, etc., are released. A substantial amount of carbon dioxide being
released into the atmosphere is from the burning of fossil fuels. Evidence acquired from several studies report that since the early nineteenth century,
there has been over a 30 percent increase in the carbon dioxide content in the atmosphere.

How To Get Rid Of Global Warming Essay
There has been many different thoughts about global warming and if it is really as bad as people say. There is a lot of questioning about the
seriousness of the problem and what we should do to make it go away. I'm here to say this problem is real and there are many things we can do to get
rid of it.
Before I get to what we should do to rid the problem, first you need to understand what global warming actually is, and what causes it. Global warming
is not necessarily just warming, but global climate change in general. As more and more years go by, theearth's overall temperature increases, but that
doesn't mean it doesn't get cold. The overall high increases, but the overall low decreases as well. There are many causes that end up in global
warming, some are because of us, and some are simply because of the Earth just getting old and used up.
One major cause of global warming is transportation. We use transportation more and more as we grow up, whether it be adolescents going to
school, adults going to their jobs, or businesses trying to get their products all over the world. We do this on our regular schedule and we don't even
think about it. The main issue with transportation leading to global warming is the fact that every car that isn't a hybrid or electric relies on gas to run
its motor, and what that gas does is usually bad. The gas gets used up by the motor and then...show more content...
The first way is to simply stop driving cars everywhere we go. If you are going somewhere close, walk or ride a bike or an electric scooter of some
sort, just don't rely on gas. The second way to get rid of this problem is to purchase a vehicle that is either a hybrid or an electric vehicle; it may cost
more to buy, but it will save you gas money and also help save the world from global warming. Many of the problems we have with our global
warming today are very avoidable and need to be steered clear of in order to keep our planet

Preventing Global Warming Essay
Global Warming Global warming is a grave issue that is affecting not only the United States, but the whole world as well. Various international
strategies need to be implemented so that these issues can be tackled. If taken seriously, the issue of global warming can not only be overcome, it can
be prevented as well.
Global warming is an event that will affect many people and animals all over the world. Humans will be affected the most due to global warming
because of things like temperature increase. Many people believe that global warming began since the industrial revolution during the 18th century.
During this time heat–trapping gases began to load in the atmosphere, gases such as carbon dioxide and methane. Global warming will...show more

Insulate homes, clean air conditioning filters and install energy efficient showerheads. Also, install a solar heated system to provide hot water. This will
protect the environment a lot. Recycle every home's waste newsprint, cardboard, glass and metal, then replace current washing machines with a
low–energy, low–water–use machines as it can save power and water. Buy food and other products with reusable or recyclable packaging instead of
those in non–recyclable packaging. Replace every home's refrigerator with a high–efficiency model. Use an electric or push mower instead of a
gasoline–powered mower to cut lawns. Plant native, drought–resistant trees and shrubs around your home and install an outdoor air conditioning unit.
If all these methods are used, then global warming will eventually cease to exist.
When it comes to election time, the United States always brings the topic of global warming into the discussion. Although it is widely discussed by
the candidates, after the politician is elected, it seems as if the issue disappears into thin air. The candidate preaches he will do this and he will do that,
but in the end, nothing is seemingly done. Global warming is a serious issue that needs to be dealt with, not just talked about. Governments should
increasingly look towards wind power and other renewable energy sources to combat increasing greenhouse gases and global warming. If every country

Solutions to Global Warming
There are many solutions to reduce the amount of green house gases in the atmosphere, which causes Global Warming.
A main culprit for global warming is the use of CFC's (chlorofluorocarbons). If the use of CFC's was reduced, the number of greenhouse gases will be
reduced by a great deal (however there are many other thing that cause dramatic amounts of greenhouse gases including carbon dioxide and nitrous
oxide). The items that contain CFC's are regular house hold items, but they can have a devastating effect on the amount of greenhouse gases in the
atmosphere. They are found in aerosols, plastic foam and fridges. However now that the scientists have a greater...show more content...
Deforestation of tropical rainforests like the Amazon causes the amount of carbon dioxide in the air to increase, due to less photosynthesis taking
place. Also when these trees are cut down they are then burnt which also adds to the amount of carbon dioxide in the air. So reducing the amount of
trees cut down each year in rainforests like the Amazon will have a massive affect on the COВІ levels in our atmosphere. However this may cause
problems such as Brazil wanting money from logging and mining etc. therefore trees will need to be cut down. To overcome this problem though
sustainable forestry could be taken into consideration, where for every tree cut down one or even two new trees are planted.
The best way of reducing the output of carbon dioxide is to reduce the amount of fuel which being burnt, by exploring other ways of producing
energy such as using wind turbines or solar panels. Encouraging people to become more energy efficient helps too, by buying washing machines,
refrigerators and other machines that are more energy efficient. Newer washing machines consume a third of the amount of energy compared to the
models made 15 years ago. People can save energy without having to pay a great deal, in doing so the emission of power from power stations would
be able to reduce by half. By doing these simple things the amount of fossil

the change is then felt through out the spheres. Humans need to understand that the change they cause can have a potential for a disastrous affect on
the environment. From injecting the atmosphere with greenhouse gas, or deforestation, all the unnatural things done to the environment will have an

The rest of the world is still living the ways of the past by only producing enough energy for life. While the industrialized world is producing gases that
not only hurt their nation's inhabitants, but the rest of the world inhabitants as well. Inhabitants are not just humans, but animals and plants that make
up the world. With increasing gas emissions the powerful nations of the world are making a weaker world environment.
Automobiles are a major producer of greenhouse gas. One gallon of fuel burned puts five pounds of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. Let's say that
an average car gets 25 miles to the gallon, and that car has a ten gallon tank. Every time a car gets filled up with gas, another fifty pounds of carbon
dioxide have been put back into the atmosphere, and that is just one car. The automobile industry is very important to the world economy, so I am
not saying that we should stop making cars, but there are other solutions. The recent trend of hybrid electric cars that get up to fifty miles to the
gallon are becoming more popular. Also public transportation is very important. City dwellers that live downtown, do not need to drive their cars to
work. Every major city has a form of public transportation that can get anyone around the city, and for that gallon of gas a bus burns the same five
pounds reaches the atmosphere, but instead of one

"Global warming is too serious for the world any longer to ignore its danger or split into opposing factions on it."
–– Tony Blair, speech, Sept. 27, 2005
According to the latest scientific data there is a direct human influence on the climate system. An upward trend in global temperatures can be clearly
seen over the last three decades. The effects of this human induced climate destabilization can be seen in the present and are projected to worsen over
time, regardless of the level of carbon emitted into the future. This does not mean that global and regional systems should not be overhauled to reduce
carbon emissions. A rapid decrease in emissions is necessary to avert further warming of the planet and changes in the climate...show more content...
While posing significant threats to the stability of society, it is a driving force of this newfound development scheme. With changes in line with
sustainable development, great gains in living conditions can be seen.
In looking at the driver of climate change, fossil fuels, an obvious need for doing away with all fossil fuels can be seen.
Just as important to look at though, are the public health benefits that come from reducing the burning of fossil fuels. Smog and airborne particulate
matter are a huge health risk all over the world, from the smog filled skies of Beijing to the United States, where in 2013 118 of the 231 counties in
the United States exceeded the EPA's allowed level of ozone.[1] These dangers are a direct result of burning fossil fuels. Switching to
power–generation systems that do not emit will not only slow global warming, it will directly save lives and promote healthier activities.
The alleviation of poverty is one of the United Nation's direct responsibilities.[2] Taking a look at poverty one will find that about 1.3 billion people
in the world do not have access to electricity.[3] One solution to this would be to build large centralized coal plants, which would be the centers of
massive electricity transportation networks. This inefficient and unsustainable system is currently in place in much of the developed world. However
other solutions exist. There has been a great deal of work done on the link between renewable energy and

Essay on Fighting Global Warming
Global warming has become a major issue discussed over Medias and governments all over the world today. It is a problem that threatens the whole
world because of the destructive impacts it can have on us humans and to the environment. Global warming is not a new phenomenon. It is often
referred to as the gradual rise of the earths near surface temperature as a result of increased emissions of greenhouse gases from human activities. The
green house gases are carbon dioxide, methane, nitrogen, ozone and water vapor, they act as a blanket that traps enough heat from the sun to warm the
earth. This is the green house effect as it is essential to life, for without it the earth would be so cold and would be uninhabitable. If not enough are in

Exhaust from automobiles, smokes from coal fired power plants and deforestation are the major contributors to greenhouse gas emission. The largest
greenhouse gas emitters are the densely populated and more developed countries such as the United States, China and Russia. Motor vehicles are
the highest emitter of greenhouse gas, they produce high levels of carbon monoxide and nitrous oxide which is released into the atmosphere.
Another major source is the burning of fossil fuels (coal, oil and wood) by power plants to generate electricity. In 2003 the United States released
more than 5 million tons of gases from power plant alone. An increase of forest fires or deforestation for land clearing has lessened the amount of
trees. Trees play a vital role in trapping carbon dioxide, when deforestation occurs more carbon dioxide is released. The Amazon is the largest carbon
dioxide forest emitter (Protecting Forests). Any resource consuming method releasing quantities of carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide or even
water vapor contributes to the effect (Tapia 2007). These mass emissions of greenhouse gases cause the atmosphere to trap more heat thus leading to
the warming of the earth.
As the temperature rises the earth becomes hotter and hotter causing polar ice caps and glaciers across the globe to melt. The Intergovernmental Panel
on Climate Change (IPCC) is a scientific body tasked to evaluate the risk of climate change

'What It Will Really Take To Stop Global Warming' is an article from MacLeans that shows the how people are reacting to the global warming crisis,
how they aren't reacting, and what us as inhabitants of the Earth can do to prevent it. The data is slightly outdated, as it is almost ten years old, but
the topic and the information it holds is still as relevant today as it was nine years ago. It states that even with all the green products being released
into the market for purchase (green cars, green computers, etc.), offsetting our carbon footprint is harder than most initially thought. Carbon emissions
are skyrocketing beyond belief as we do relatively nothing to limit or control them as, for the most part, we believe that we can get rid...show more

All this has been shown to be false, as we have no concrete policies on carbon emissions and our emissions have not been cut, but instead risen 30%
since 1990. All countries emissions are overshadowed by China's, however, as they are the world's largest emitter of greenhouse gases, passing the US
sometime around 2008. Around 70% of the country's ginormous economy is fueled by coal, a fossil fuel. If Canada stopped using lights and stopped
emitting any greenhouse gases, the good that we would do for the world would be wiped out in little more than a month by China. Most scientists have
found that global warming is happening at a much faster rate than initially expected. A report from the Proceedings of the National Academy of
Science concluded that global emissions will double in just 21 years, instead of 53. And according to a scientist at NASA, James Hansen, the upper
limit of CO2 in the atmosphere is 30 parts per million above the safe limit of 350 per million. Though most of the information presented by the article
shows that climate change is a hard battle to win, it also shows that it is a battle that can still be won. Policies such as those implemented by B.C. that
tax carbon, invest in alternative energies, and create and invest in other changes that strike at the heart of the problem. In my opinion, global warming
is a battle that we as humans will ultimately lose. By now, the heat

With the speed of destruction of Earth?fs ecosystem, the survival of many species, including human beings, is threatened. In order to solve this danger,
we have to reduce the consumption of energy and use the alternative energy resources. If we calculate the present energy price, alternative energy must

I would like to propose some solutions: (1) reduce the use of fossil fuels; (2) find alternative energy...show more content...
(2) Find alternative energy resources
I cannot recommend nuclear power as an alternative energy resource because many people have experienced accidents and atomic bombs. However,
there are other alternatives such as wind power, tidal power, and solar power. Many people believe that these are expensive. Why not calculate the
cost of global warming into the expense of using fossil fuels? Which is cheaper? In some industrialized countries, those experimental power sources
have succeeded as profitable solutions. If we impose taxes on fossil fuels that will match the expenses we are going to pay to restore our planet,
people will be eager to change their use of fossil fuels to new alternative energy resources.
(3) Recycle usable resources
In many industrialized nations, they do not collect bottles, cans and newspapers for the purpose of recycling. However this is done in many cities in
the U.S. Why not do the same thing in other industrialized nations? In some states of the U.S., people pay five–cent deposit when they buy beer and
other beverages. In order to get the money back, people collect cans and bottles. Human beings are egoistic: we have to give ourselves some kind of
monetary incentive. And it works.
(4) Planting Trees to help combat global warming
As we know, trees and other plants absorb carbon dioxide as they grow. However, scientists found that the carbon–sink effect grows out of recent
evidence that

Greenhouse Effect Essay
I have noticed that climate change has been a big issue this year. I think it's very important to talk about Global warming and be aware of the causes
of it. We all should want to take care of this earth, because we are the ones living here. We should make people more aware of the greenhouse effect
and how it can affect us.
Consequently, in September of this year, Florida had some devastating hurricanes that wiped out thousands of homes, businesses, and schools.
According to Monmonier's book, "Coast lines: how mapmakers frame the world and chart environmental change," He predicted that the sea levels
were rising at an unprecedented rate, causing flooding around the world, including the coast of Florida and California (Monmonier pg. 131). The two
main causes of global sea level rise are thermal expansion of the warming of the oceans and the lack of land–based ice due to melting. Due to global
warming, our ice caps are melting, and our ocean temperatures are steadily increasing. (Monmonier pg. 131). So how can we help?
Second is air pollution, this is one of the biggest problems we are having today. Air pollution is caused by everything we do today. In theEarth's

Carbon dioxide, or CO2, is the most well known of the greenhouse gases and is produced in the greatest quantities by humans. In the United States
alone, coal power plants produce 2.5 billion tons of CO2 per year, and U.S. automobiles produce an additional 1.5 billion tons (NRDC). The links
between global warming and human emissions are present in the piles of data we have, and these links are becoming more evident each day, even
happening right before our eyes.
While we may have just started noticing the current warming trend, the greenhouse effect causing the increase in global temperatures is not a new

Global Warming and Climate Change Essay
Global warming and the greenhouse effect are issues discussed by scientists all the time. A natural process that keeps earths temperature at a livable
rate is called the greenhouse effect. The energy from the sun warms up the earth when the rays from the sun are absorbed by greenhouse gasses. The
gasses then become trapped in the atmosphere. Carbon dioxide, water vapor, methane and nitrous oxide are the most common greenhouse gasses.
Greenhouse gases cause the radiant heat of the sun to be trapped in the Earths lower atmosphere which causes global warming. If there weren't any
greenhouse gasses, the earth would be really cold due to very little sun rays being absorbed on the earth. Global warming can and...show more content...
Every time the temperature keeps rising, the more carbon dioxide will be released. When this process gets going, it is very hard to keep in control.
Methane is another greenhouse gas. Methane is a greenhouse gas whose molecules absorb heat trying to escape to space. Natural sources include
wetlands, swamps and marshes, termites, and oceans. (Methane) Methane gases are released into the atmosphere. Atmospheric methane has doubled
since the Industrial Revolution and has "contributed 20 percent to the enhancement of the greenhouse effect, second only to carbon dioxide".
(Methane) A major effect of global warming is there will be higher temperatures and it will affect how the water cycle works. Places on the earth
will receive more rain than others. There will be a great amount of evaporation going on from the rivers, lakes and oceans due to a increase in the
temperature. This could be a good thing for some people needing rain and a bad thing for other people who get to much rain. While the temperature
is on the rise there will be greater amount of rains all over. In return with all of the rains this could help farmers. It would extend the growing season
for crops. This would greatly help out the farmers because they would be making more money. While this is the positive side of the rain, this could
also hurt the farmers. There are some crops that out there that will die with to much rain. There

In discussions of global warming, the greenhouse effect is "the enhanced effect which is caused by the increase of greenhouse gases from human
sources" (Kudesia, 2008)
There are different theories about the primary causes of global warming. Eventually, the processes that happen in the environment are so complex that
analyzing causes and effects of global processes (global warming) leads scientists to debatable conclusions. "Scientists have known about the
greenhouse effect since 1824, when Joseph Fourier calculated that the Earth would be much colder if it had no atmosphere. This greenhouse effect is
what keeps the Earth's climate livable. Without it, the Earth's surface would be an average of about 60 degrees Fahrenheit cooler." (Society, 2010)
Most scientists agree on undeniable facts. Arguments begin upon the interpretation of these facts. Concentration of atmospheric carbon dioxide, which
scientists agree determines the temperature of the Earth, has increased from 275 parts per million before the Industrial Revolution to 360 parts per
million in 1996. The increase rate has also accelerated in this period of time (Isham, 2007). The main issue is not only scientific, but also political
contribution to the current warming of atmosphere.
In 1924 M. Milankovitch, a Serbian mathematician, developed a theory about the causes of the changes in the Earth's ice cover. He presumed that
small variations in Earth's orbit can lead to extreme

We Can Stop Global Warming Essay
We Can Stop Global Warming
Nowadays, the earth is presenting drastic changes. There are different factors that have influenced to provoke these changes. The man is one if not the
main responsible. With the modern world and its speed in which life is developed everyday, the man may not sometimes think of a long–term harm
that is provoking. It has been recognized that human activity is slowly increasing the atmospheric concentration of several gases that contribute to the
greenhouse effect. The greenhouse effect is the colloquial term to refer to enhanced global warming. The green house effect is what keeps the earth
habitable, without the greenhouse effect the temperatures would be too cold for human live.

We need to improve our inefficient use of energy, our choices about when and how to use energy. According to scientists we can improveenergy
efficiency by the following household advices: a) Turn off lights when you leave a room.
b) Buying energy– efficient appliances, such as, refrigerators, freezers, stove. c) Replace your 3 most–used light bulbs with compact fluorescents. If
every American home took this step, it would reduce this country's CO2 emissions by about 1%. d) Weatherize your home or apartment. Seal drafts
around windows and doors to avoid escapes. Make sure that your house has adequate insulation. e) Ask your local electric or gas utility perform an
energy audit of your house or apartment. Then put them the recommendations into practice.
Methane (CH4) is second only to CO2, as a contributor to global warming. Since CH4 has 25 times the heat trapping capability of CO2, and since
CH4 production is directly related to population growth, CH4 is a serious contributor to the greenhouse effect. The main CH4 releasers are the
garbage landfills. Scientists have suggest that we should reduce the amount of waste going to landfills, so less CH4 is produced from decomposing
garbage. Some methods that we use to lessen the production of garbage could be the 3 Rs which consist of reduce, reuse, and recycle, or by composting.
The 3 Rs method:

What Can We Do To Stop Global Warming

  • 1. What Can We Do to Stop Global Warming What can we do to Stop Global Warming? Climate change may be a big problem, but there are many little things we can do to make a difference. If we try, most of us can do our part to reduce the amount of greenhouse gases that we put into the atmosphere. Many greenhouse gases come from things we do every day. As we have learned, these greenhouse gases trap energy in the atmosphere and make the Earth warmer. Some of these gasses occur naturally while others are caused by humans. The most common of these gasses that are causing the earth to heat up is the gas carbon dioxide (CO2). According to the ICCP the CO2 emissions have grown between 1970 and 2004 by eighty percent. Emissions rose by 15.8 percent from 1990 through 2004 and emissions and...show more content... One third of the landfills in the United States have closed since 1980, and more than half the cities on the East Coast will run out of room in their landfills by 1990. In New York, 14 sites have closed in the past 10 years. (Squidoo) With all of these places either closing or being full very soon we are running out of space to put all the trash. Some say that we should just burn our garbage but when garbage is burned, it can release dangerous gases into the air. Each year Americans throw away 1.6 billion pens, 2 billion razors, 220 million tires, and enough aluminum to rebuild the entire U.S. commercial airline fleet. Dr. Timothy F. Ball is one skeptic ofglobal warming and has published articles in the Canada Free Press and other news papers. Dr. Ball has a Ph.D. in climatology from the University Of London England. Scientists like Dr. Ball believe that global warming is a myth, he believes that the climate changes we have been experiencing in the last few decades are well "within natural variability and explained quite easily by changes in the sun." He says there is nothing unusual going on with regards to global warming because it does not exist. Dr. Ball is quoted in the Canada Free Press news paper (CFP) saying that the belief of global warming "is the greatest deception in the history of science." Also, that "We are wasting time, energy and trillions of dollars." (CFP) This Dr. of climatology believes Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Using Hydropower Help Stop Global Warming Scientific Paper: Using hydropower to help stop Global Warming Thomas McBrien Prof. Hussain FCSC–101:W06 Global Warming is the gradual increase in the overall temperature of the earth 's atmosphere generally attributed to the greenhouse effect caused by increased levels of carbon dioxide and other pollutants. These pollutants are produced by factories, cars, and even people and animals. Global Warming is a major concern because it affects all life forms and is changing the earth entirely. As the problem continues to grow, individuals must do their part to help prevent it. The biggest pollutants in our atmosphere are Carbon dioxide, Methane, and nitrous oxide. Carbon dioxide is released into the atmosphere by burning fossil fuels such as coal, natural gas and oil for energy. Electricity production is the biggest cause of carbon emissions in the United States. Transportation is the second biggest cause of emissions and factory production is the third biggest cause. Humans and animals also play a small role in carbon emissions because we exhale carbon dioxide. Transportation mainly consists of personal automobiles which is why the search for a new way to power cars is so important. To help prevent carbon emissions many new cars use electric to help produce less carbon emissions and reduce the burning of fossil fuels. These cars are charged at home, but still require electricity made from power plants which are burning fossil fuels and producing carbon emissions. Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Global Warming Essay Global warming is the process in which the Earth's temperature starts increasing. This happens because industry, fossil fuels, agricultural processes caused by human, natural, and other gas emissions, this factors increase greenhouse gases, greenhouse gases are made up of carbon dioxide, methane and nitrous oxide. The greenhouse gases stay in the atmosphere and prevent the suns warming rays to leave the Earth. So the sun's warming rays stay inside the Earth increasing its average temperature. Global warming isn't the end of the world, it's just a natural process in which the Earth cleans or rinse organisms. Now a days the Automobiles, heat from homes and businesses, and factories are responsible for about 80% of today's carbon dioxide...show more content... Lastly many bodies of water become polluted thanks to all the gasses in the atmosphere that mix with the clouds and fall as acid rain polluting rivers, and lakes and killing many animals. All of theses factors change our daily life and can ruin whole species, and all of this is because of temperature changes. Many scientific methods of controlling or lowering the Earth's temperature are being researched; these can also be called geoengineering. Geoengineering is a method in which scientists can change the levels of greenhouse gases directly or indirectly. Also there could be methods that prevent greenhouse gasses to be emitted. There have never been any geoengineering solutions done on a global scale since it has to be almost proof less. But there have been some ideas that are being use on a small scale like the iron fertilization; this is a process in which iron is injected into the oceans to speed up the reproduction of plankton which breath carbon dioxide and emit oxygen, this is one solution that seems to have the least side effects thanks to the reason I just presented and also due to that plankton are the base of many marine animals food chain. So this method is being widely researched to see if it can be done on a global scale. Not only is lowering the levels of gases in the air important, but also lowering the level of gases we emit, and there have been many scientific breakthroughs like solar energy or cars that run Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Reducing Global Warming Essay Reducing Global Warming Our planet, Earth, is surrounded by a shield of atmospheric gases consisting primarily of nitrogen and oxygen. The sun produces radiation which is most intense at short wavelengths. The atmosphere is almost transparent to this radiation and is absorbed by the earth's surface. When the land and sea are warm they radiate the energy they have absorbed at a longer wavelength, some is reabsorbed and re–radiated back to earth by atmospheric gases. Although eventually escaping into space, it is retained long enough to warm the atmosphere. This is the greenhouse effect, and the gases causing it are greenhouse gases. Without global warming, the earth's...show more content... When forests are cleared or burnt CO2, methane and nitrous oxide are released into the atmosphere. Each year, deforestation contributes 23–30 percent of overall CO2 in the atmosphere by countries such as Brazil, Indonesia, Burma, Mexico and Thailand. Therefore, while more and more carbon dioxide is being released into the atmosphere, there are less and less forests to remove it. Deforestation both releases huge amounts CO2 into our atmosphere and destroys our means of absorbing and storing this substance. The destruction of the earths forests not only contribute to global warming, but also undermine the long–term ability of the Earth's atmosphere to neutralize green house gases. The Earth's defence mechanism against pollutants are called 'trace radicals;' gas molecules which interact with greenhouse gases, making them harmless. There are limited quantities of these trace radicals in the atmosphere, and as more greenhouse gases are released more trace radicals are used up. This diminishes the Earth's ability to stabilize the atmosphere. The causes of deforestation are varied. The most important include logging, the conversion of forested land for agriculture and cattle raising, urbanization, mining and oil exploitation. However there has been a tendency of Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. How to Stop Global Warming Essay Each year, over 7.2 billion tonnes of carbon dioxide is released into the atmosphere by human activity. That is the equivalent of 110 million airplanes all being in the air at once! These disturbing numbers are the foremost cause of global warming, and have been steadily growing over the past few decades. Global warming is caused by this recent surge of greenhouse gasses which consists primarily of carbon dioxide. Carbon dioxide isn't harmful to the atmosphere in the amount that is produced naturally from decaying trees, volcanic eruptions, etc., because the forests act as a natural recycling system. However, humans burning fossil fuels, demolishing forests, and using chemical fertilizers are causing an enormous surplus of carbon...show more content... The core purpose of carbon dioxide existing in the atmosphere is to trap the heat acquired from sunlight and not let it past the atmosphere. It's because of the carbon dioxide in the atmosphere that Earth's atmosphere is warm enough to sustain human life. When there is a large increase in the proportion of carbon dioxide in the air, the quantity of heat caught by the carbon dioxide also increases. This in turn contributes to the total rise in the surface temperature of the earth. Due to this rise in temperature in ice in the Arctic is melting, which is causing the sea level to rise. Dr. Leonard Berry from the FAU Climate Change Initiative stated that "The ocean has risen six inches over the course of the last twenty–five years" ("Water..." n.pag.). A major contributor to global warming is fossil fuels. Fossil fuels are used for everything from generating electricity from turbines to powering vehicles. In the last few centuries the economy has been growing so rapidly that the need for energy from fossil fuels has reached new heights. Upon the burning of fossil fuels, numerous gases like carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, etc., are released. A substantial amount of carbon dioxide being released into the atmosphere is from the burning of fossil fuels. Evidence acquired from several studies report that since the early nineteenth century, there has been over a 30 percent increase in the carbon dioxide content in the atmosphere. • 6. How To Get Rid Of Global Warming Essay There has been many different thoughts about global warming and if it is really as bad as people say. There is a lot of questioning about the seriousness of the problem and what we should do to make it go away. I'm here to say this problem is real and there are many things we can do to get rid of it. Before I get to what we should do to rid the problem, first you need to understand what global warming actually is, and what causes it. Global warming is not necessarily just warming, but global climate change in general. As more and more years go by, theearth's overall temperature increases, but that doesn't mean it doesn't get cold. The overall high increases, but the overall low decreases as well. There are many causes that end up in global warming, some are because of us, and some are simply because of the Earth just getting old and used up. One major cause of global warming is transportation. We use transportation more and more as we grow up, whether it be adolescents going to school, adults going to their jobs, or businesses trying to get their products all over the world. We do this on our regular schedule and we don't even think about it. The main issue with transportation leading to global warming is the fact that every car that isn't a hybrid or electric relies on gas to run its motor, and what that gas does is usually bad. The gas gets used up by the motor and then...show more content... The first way is to simply stop driving cars everywhere we go. If you are going somewhere close, walk or ride a bike or an electric scooter of some sort, just don't rely on gas. The second way to get rid of this problem is to purchase a vehicle that is either a hybrid or an electric vehicle; it may cost more to buy, but it will save you gas money and also help save the world from global warming. • 7. Preventing Global Warming Essay Global Warming Global warming is a grave issue that is affecting not only the United States, but the whole world as well. Various international strategies need to be implemented so that these issues can be tackled. If taken seriously, the issue of global warming can not only be overcome, it can be prevented as well. Global warming is an event that will affect many people and animals all over the world. Humans will be affected the most due to global warming because of things like temperature increase. Many people believe that global warming began since the industrial revolution during the 18th century. During this time heat–trapping gases began to load in the atmosphere, gases such as carbon dioxide and methane. Global warming will...show more content... Insulate homes, clean air conditioning filters and install energy efficient showerheads. Also, install a solar heated system to provide hot water. This will protect the environment a lot. Recycle every home's waste newsprint, cardboard, glass and metal, then replace current washing machines with a low–energy, low–water–use machines as it can save power and water. Buy food and other products with reusable or recyclable packaging instead of those in non–recyclable packaging. Replace every home's refrigerator with a high–efficiency model. Use an electric or push mower instead of a gasoline–powered mower to cut lawns. Plant native, drought–resistant trees and shrubs around your home and install an outdoor air conditioning unit. If all these methods are used, then global warming will eventually cease to exist. When it comes to election time, the United States always brings the topic of global warming into the discussion. Although it is widely discussed by the candidates, after the politician is elected, it seems as if the issue disappears into thin air. The candidate preaches he will do this and he will do that, but in the end, nothing is seemingly done. Global warming is a serious issue that needs to be dealt with, not just talked about. Governments should increasingly look towards wind power and other renewable energy sources to combat increasing greenhouse gases and global warming. • 8. Solutions to Global Warming Essay Solutions to Global Warming There are many solutions to reduce the amount of green house gases in the atmosphere, which causes Global Warming. A main culprit for global warming is the use of CFC's (chlorofluorocarbons). If the use of CFC's was reduced, the number of greenhouse gases will be reduced by a great deal (however there are many other thing that cause dramatic amounts of greenhouse gases including carbon dioxide and nitrous oxide). The items that contain CFC's are regular house hold items, but they can have a devastating effect on the amount of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. They are found in aerosols, plastic foam and fridges. However now that the scientists have a greater...show more content... Deforestation of tropical rainforests like the Amazon causes the amount of carbon dioxide in the air to increase, due to less photosynthesis taking place. Also when these trees are cut down they are then burnt which also adds to the amount of carbon dioxide in the air. So reducing the amount of trees cut down each year in rainforests like the Amazon will have a massive affect on the COВІ levels in our atmosphere. However this may cause problems such as Brazil wanting money from logging and mining etc. therefore trees will need to be cut down. To overcome this problem though sustainable forestry could be taken into consideration, where for every tree cut down one or even two new trees are planted. The best way of reducing the output of carbon dioxide is to reduce the amount of fuel which being burnt, by exploring other ways of producing energy such as using wind turbines or solar panels. Encouraging people to become more energy efficient helps too, by buying washing machines, refrigerators and other machines that are more energy efficient. Newer washing machines consume a third of the amount of energy compared to the models made 15 years ago. People can save energy without having to pay a great deal, in doing so the emission of power from power stations would be able to reduce by half. By doing these simple things the amount of fossil Get more content on HelpWriting.net

When one changes slightly the change is then felt through out the spheres. Humans need to understand that the change they cause can have a potential for a disastrous affect on the environment. From injecting the atmosphere with greenhouse gas, or deforestation, all the unnatural things done to the environment will have an unnatural affect that will have to be dealt with. Inhabitants are not just humans, but animals and plants that make up the world. With increasing gas emissions the powerful nations of the world are making a weaker world environment. Automobiles are a major producer of greenhouse gas. One gallon of fuel burned puts five pounds of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. Let's say that an average car gets 25 miles to the gallon, and that car has a ten gallon tank. Every time a car gets filled up with gas, another fifty pounds of carbon dioxide have been put back into the atmosphere, and that is just one car. The automobile industry is very important to the world economy, so I am not saying that we should stop making cars, but there are other solutions. The recent trend of hybrid electric cars that get up to fifty miles to the gallon are becoming more popular. Also public transportation is very important. City dwellers that live downtown, do not need to drive their cars to work. Every major city has a form of public transportation that can get anyone around the city, and for that gallon of gas a bus burns the same five pounds reaches the atmosphere, but instead of one Get more content on HelpWriting.net

"Global warming is too serious for the world any longer to ignore its danger or split into opposing factions on it." –– Tony Blair, speech, Sept. 27, 2005 According to the latest scientific data there is a direct human influence on the climate system. An upward trend in global temperatures can be clearly seen over the last three decades. The effects of this human induced climate destabilization can be seen in the present and are projected to worsen over time, regardless of the level of carbon emitted into the future. While posing significant threats to the stability of society, it is a driving force of this newfound development scheme. With changes in line with sustainable development, great gains in living conditions can be seen. In looking at the driver of climate change, fossil fuels, an obvious need for doing away with all fossil fuels can be seen. Just as important to look at though, are the public health benefits that come from reducing the burning of fossil fuels. Smog and airborne particulate matter are a huge health risk all over the world, from the smog filled skies of Beijing to the United States, where in 2013 118 of the 231 counties in the United States exceeded the EPA's allowed level of ozone.[1] These dangers are a direct result of burning fossil fuels. Switching to power–generation systems that do not emit will not only slow global warming, it will directly save lives and promote healthier activities. The alleviation of poverty is one of the United Nation's direct responsibilities.[2] Taking a look at poverty one will find that about 1.3 billion people in the world do not have access to electricity.[3] One solution to this would be to build large centralized coal plants, which would be the centers of massive electricity transportation networks. This inefficient and unsustainable system is currently in place in much of the developed world. However other solutions exist. • 11. Essay on Fighting Global Warming Global warming has become a major issue discussed over Medias and governments all over the world today. It is a problem that threatens the whole world because of the destructive impacts it can have on us humans and to the environment. Global warming is not a new phenomenon. It is often referred to as the gradual rise of the earths near surface temperature as a result of increased emissions of greenhouse gases from human activities. The green house gases are carbon dioxide, methane, nitrogen, ozone and water vapor, they act as a blanket that traps enough heat from the sun to warm the earth. This is the green house effect as it is essential to life, for without it the earth would be so cold and would be uninhabitable. If not enough are in ...show more content... Exhaust from automobiles, smokes from coal fired power plants and deforestation are the major contributors to greenhouse gas emission. The largest greenhouse gas emitters are the densely populated and more developed countries such as the United States, China and Russia. Motor vehicles are the highest emitter of greenhouse gas, they produce high levels of carbon monoxide and nitrous oxide which is released into the atmosphere. Another major source is the burning of fossil fuels (coal, oil and wood) by power plants to generate electricity. In 2003 the United States released more than 5 million tons of gases from power plant alone. An increase of forest fires or deforestation for land clearing has lessened the amount of trees. Trees play a vital role in trapping carbon dioxide, when deforestation occurs more carbon dioxide is released. The Amazon is the largest carbon dioxide forest emitter (Protecting Forests). Any resource consuming method releasing quantities of carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide or even water vapor contributes to the effect (Tapia 2007). These mass emissions of greenhouse gases cause the atmosphere to trap more heat thus leading to the warming of the earth. As the temperature rises the earth becomes hotter and hotter causing polar ice caps and glaciers across the globe to melt. Stop Global Warming 'What It Will Really Take To Stop Global Warming' is an article from MacLeans that shows the how people are reacting to the global warming crisis, how they aren't reacting, and what us as inhabitants of the Earth can do to prevent it. The data is slightly outdated, as it is almost ten years old, but the topic and the information it holds is still as relevant today as it was nine years ago. It states that even with all the green products being released into the market for purchase (green cars, green computers, etc.), offsetting our carbon footprint is harder than most initially thought. All this has been shown to be false, as we have no concrete policies on carbon emissions and our emissions have not been cut, but instead risen 30% since 1990. All countries emissions are overshadowed by China's, however, as they are the world's largest emitter of greenhouse gases, passing the US sometime around 2008. Around 70% of the country's ginormous economy is fueled by coal, a fossil fuel. If Canada stopped using lights and stopped emitting any greenhouse gases, the good that we would do for the world would be wiped out in little more than a month by China. Most scientists have found that global warming is happening at a much faster rate than initially expected. A report from the Proceedings of the National Academy of Science concluded that global emissions will double in just 21 years, instead of 53. And according to a scientist at NASA, James Hansen, the upper limit of CO2 in the atmosphere is 30 parts per million above the safe limit of 350 per million. Though most of the information presented by the article shows that climate change is a hard battle to win, it also shows that it is a battle that can still be won. Policies such as those implemented by B.C. that tax carbon, invest in alternative energies, and create and invest in other changes that strike at the heart of the problem. In my opinion, global warming is a battle that we as humans will ultimately lose. By now, the heat Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Governments are trying to reduce carbon–dioxide emissions. With the speed of destruction of Earth?fs ecosystem, the survival of many species, including human beings, is threatened. In order to solve this danger, we have to reduce the consumption of energy and use the alternative energy resources. If we calculate the present energy price, alternative energy must be more expensive than fossil fuels. However if we consider the negative price which is caused by global warming, this result might be different. Now I would like to propose some solutions: (1) reduce the use of fossil fuels; (2) find alternative energy...show more content... (2) Find alternative energy resources I cannot recommend nuclear power as an alternative energy resource because many people have experienced accidents and atomic bombs. However, there are other alternatives such as wind power, tidal power, and solar power. Many people believe that these are expensive. Why not calculate the cost of global warming into the expense of using fossil fuels? Which is cheaper? In some industrialized countries, those experimental power sources have succeeded as profitable solutions. If we impose taxes on fossil fuels that will match the expenses we are going to pay to restore our planet, people will be eager to change their use of fossil fuels to new alternative energy resources. (3) Recycle usable resources In many industrialized nations, they do not collect bottles, cans and newspapers for the purpose of recycling. However this is done in many cities in the U.S. Why not do the same thing in other industrialized nations? In some states of the U.S., people pay five–cent deposit when they buy beer and other beverages. In order to get the money back, people collect cans and bottles. Human beings are egoistic: we have to give ourselves some kind of monetary incentive. And it works. (4) Planting Trees to help combat global warming As we know, trees and other plants absorb carbon dioxide as they grow. However, scientists found that the carbon–sink effect grows out of recent evidence that

  • 16. Greenhouse Effect Essay I have noticed that climate change has been a big issue this year. I think it's very important to talk about Global warming and be aware of the causes of it. We all should want to take care of this earth, because we are the ones living here. We should make people more aware of the greenhouse effect and how it can affect us. Consequently, in September of this year, Florida had some devastating hurricanes that wiped out thousands of homes, businesses, and schools. According to Monmonier's book, "Coast lines: how mapmakers frame the world and chart environmental change," He predicted that the sea levels were rising at an unprecedented rate, causing flooding around the world, including the coast of Florida and California (Monmonier pg. 131). The two main causes of global sea level rise are thermal expansion of the warming of the oceans and the lack of land–based ice due to melting. Due to global warming, our ice caps are melting, and our ocean temperatures are steadily increasing. (Monmonier pg. 131). So how can we help? Second is air pollution, this is one of the biggest problems we are having today. Air pollution is caused by everything we do today. In theEarth's atmosphere, a process called the Greenhouse effect occurs, it acts as a shield to trap in the heat from the sun, so it prevents the heat from going back into space. Carbon dioxide, or CO2, is the most well known of the greenhouse gases and is produced in the greatest quantities by humans. In the United States alone, coal power plants produce 2.5 billion tons of CO2 per year, and U.S. automobiles produce an additional 1.5 billion tons (NRDC). The links between global warming and human emissions are present in the piles of data we have, and these links are becoming more evident each day, even happening right before our eyes. While we may have just started noticing the current warming trend, the greenhouse effect causing the increase in global temperatures is not a new phenomenon to hit the planet; in fact our planet would be a frigid 0 degrees Fahrenheit (‹F) instead of the current average temperature of 57‹F if there were no greenhouse gases in the atmosphere at all (NOAA). The heat–trapping abilities of greenhouse gases help make life on the planet Earth possible, but it is the man–made influx of greenhouse gases from the past two centuries.the majority of which is carbon dioxide.that has made the current warming trend different from previous ones. The average surface temperature has risen nearly 1.4‹F in the past 100 years, and North America has been one of the hardest hit areas (NOAA). In addition, seven of the eight warmest years on record have occurred since 2001, the warmest being 2005 (NOAA). Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 18. Global Warming and Climate Change Essay Global warming and the greenhouse effect are issues discussed by scientists all the time. A natural process that keeps earths temperature at a livable rate is called the greenhouse effect. The energy from the sun warms up the earth when the rays from the sun are absorbed by greenhouse gasses. The gasses then become trapped in the atmosphere. Carbon dioxide, water vapor, methane and nitrous oxide are the most common greenhouse gasses. Greenhouse gases cause the radiant heat of the sun to be trapped in the Earths lower atmosphere which causes global warming. If there weren't any greenhouse gasses, the earth would be really cold due to very little sun rays being absorbed on the earth. Global warming can and...show more content... Every time the temperature keeps rising, the more carbon dioxide will be released. When this process gets going, it is very hard to keep in control. Methane is another greenhouse gas. Methane is a greenhouse gas whose molecules absorb heat trying to escape to space. Natural sources include wetlands, swamps and marshes, termites, and oceans. (Methane) Methane gases are released into the atmosphere. Atmospheric methane has doubled since the Industrial Revolution and has "contributed 20 percent to the enhancement of the greenhouse effect, second only to carbon dioxide". (Methane) A major effect of global warming is there will be higher temperatures and it will affect how the water cycle works. Places on the earth will receive more rain than others. There will be a great amount of evaporation going on from the rivers, lakes and oceans due to a increase in the temperature. This could be a good thing for some people needing rain and a bad thing for other people who get to much rain. While the temperature is on the rise there will be greater amount of rains all over. In return with all of the rains this could help farmers. It would extend the growing season for crops. This would greatly help out the farmers because they would be making more money. While this is the positive side of the rain, this could also hurt the farmers. There are some crops that out there that will die with to much rain. There Get more content on HelpWriting.net

In discussions of global warming, the greenhouse effect is "the enhanced effect which is caused by the increase of greenhouse gases from human sources" (Kudesia, 2008) There are different theories about the primary causes of global warming. Eventually, the processes that happen in the environment are so complex that analyzing causes and effects of global processes (global warming) leads scientists to debatable conclusions. "Scientists have known about the greenhouse effect since 1824, when Joseph Fourier calculated that the Earth would be much colder if it had no atmosphere. This greenhouse effect is what keeps the Earth's climate livable. Without it, the Earth's surface would be an average of about 60 degrees Fahrenheit cooler." (Society, 2010) Most scientists agree on undeniable facts. Arguments begin upon the interpretation of these facts. Concentration of atmospheric carbon dioxide, which scientists agree determines the temperature of the Earth, has increased from 275 parts per million before the Industrial Revolution to 360 parts per million in 1996. The increase rate has also accelerated in this period of time (Isham, 2007). The main issue is not only scientific, but also political contribution to the current warming of atmosphere. In 1924 M. Since CH4 has 25 times the heat trapping capability of CO2, and since CH4 production is directly related to population growth, CH4 is a serious contributor to the greenhouse effect. The main CH4 releasers are the garbage landfills. Scientists have suggest that we should reduce the amount of waste going to landfills, so less CH4 is produced from decomposing garbage. Some methods that we use to lessen the production of garbage could be the 3 Rs which consist of reduce, reuse, and recycle, or by composting. The 3 Rs method:
