2. Developing.
Our activity will take us six days more or less. We want children
to create a campaign in order to encourage people to perform
good habits each day to look after the environment. Children
have to follow two simple steps to make their campaign.
The first step:
The first day, we will introduce the activity by showing some
videos to children about the pollution problems. In order to make
children aware of what it is happening in our world and so on. We
will ask them for a reflection about the videos.
3. The second day, children have to form pairs and choose a
name for their pairs/groups. Then, we will ask them about what
they believe that they can do to finish with this situation.
How can they contribute to look after the environment? They
have to design in pairs five examples, which they really believe
that are good habits to look after the environment; they can do it
writing or drawing the examples, as they prefer.
Once they have designed the five examples, the whole class
will do an assembly to talk about their ideas, and to solve any
doubt which have arisen during the activity and they will evaluate
the work of their classmates through a rubric which will take into
account some aspects.
4. We will explain them form the first moment how they should
act, how their behavior should be and so on. They can't make
hurtful comments to their classmates, and if they make them,
their qualification will be worse, because they have to work in
pairs and the respect to others is the main aspect.
We will tell them that they have to do a critical qualification
for their classmates. We will give them a rubric through which
they will be able to put a mark taking into account some aspects.
This rubric will be similar to the rubric which we use to
evaluate them in the final qualification. This previous qualification
will help them to improve their work before the final
qualification.
5. Children will give their examples to the couple of their right
and they will qualify them. In this way, children can't choose who
are going to qualify them or who aren't.
The rubric will take into account some aspects, such as:
The attitude.
The cooperative work.
The creativity of the examples.
The effort in the work.
The marks will be from 1 as minimum to 10 points as
maximum.
6. The second step:
The third day, we will show children tutorials about how to use
the three applications which we want they to use. The first app
will be Magisto, the second one will be YouTube, and the third one
will be Twitter. We will give children free time to understand how
to use them and to examine them, in order to solve any doubts
that they can have about them. Once they know how to use them,
we will ask them to record the good habits which they have
designed, in order to decorate them in Magisto, to upload them to
YouTube, and to tweet them with a slogan on Twitter. We will
create an account on each application, in order to the whole class
can use them to do their work. We will give them the email and
the password to access to the applications and they have to put
their names and the following hashtag: #SSAP, which means Social
Science And Pollution, when they finish their work, so that we can
differentiate each group.
7. Then, in the same pairs they have to record their good habits.
Every child has to record his partner twice and, finally, in his
fifth video they will have to ask their parents for help in order to
record it.
If children do not want to appear in the videos, or if any
parents do not let children appear in the videos, children can
create characters by drawings them to record the video, as many
characters as they prefer.
They can record the videos in the school, in the classroom or
in their house, as they prefer, and of course, it will depend on the
good habits they have designed.
8. Children will have three more days in order to prepare their
videos, to upload them to YouTube, and to choose or imagine an
slogan to put the tweets. Two days to prepare the individual
videos (a video of each child per day), and to upload them on
YouTube, and to put the tweets with the URL and the slogan and
one day to do the same process but with the common video.
Children have to think about how and where they are going to
record the videos and about the things which they need to do it.
The seventh and the eighth day, children will show their work
to the whole class for six minutes to explain their activity.
9. We will evaluate them also through a rubric. This one will be
similar to which they will use to evaluate the work of their
classmates but this one will be more complete. The rubric, which
we will use, will take into account some aspects, such as:
The attitude.
The cooperative work.
The creativity of the examples.
The effort.
The slogans.
The music.
The themes.
The appropriate use of the apps.
