for work, but lost their jobs.
5. What’s being done?
-Government has passed laws
against sleeping or sitting in most
public areas. This is to limit
tourists contact with the
homeless population.
-They issue tickets and kick them
out of parks and other areas
where they sleep.
-The homeless population is
essentially always on the move,
looking for places they can stay
without being harassed.
8. Cost of living in Hawaii
Average rent in Hawaii is $2300 a month.
-All expenses included the normal cost of living
in hawaii is around $6000.
Because of the outrageous cost of living the
homeless life just makes sense to some people.
Sleeping in a tent on the beach is free, and living
in a homeless shelter which includes meals can
be around $3 a day.
