Class Reunion Social Media Guide
1. Class Reunion Social Media Guide
University Advancement
Summary:
The Facebook pages for the reunion years provide members with updates and reminders on
reunion plans as well as other posts to keep the alumni engaged throughout the year. Aim
for two to three post each week per each page to maintain a constant, yet not overpowering
presence on Facebook feeds.
Here are some suggested weekly posts,
Modern Monday: Post about current happenings on campus. This will be a way for the
classes to stay connected with what new and exciting things are happening at Elon. This
could be a post about athletic wins, academic programs or alumni programs.
Tuesday: Tuesdays are a great day to plug in whatever reunion initiative we are working on
that week. This will be a way for the classes to get excited about upcoming reunion events.
Way Back Wednesday: Pictures from the yearbooks are great. Ask your supervisor for the photos
provided by library archives or look through the Phi Psi Cli yearbook. You can access Phi Psi Cli by
going to digitalnc.org and searching “Elon University.”
Throwback Thursday: Similar to Way Back Wednesday, another opportunity to post a
yearbook picture. This will be a way for the alumni to reminisce with fellow classmates.
Feature Friday: Great way to end the week by having alumni spotlights highlighting our
volunteers and other class members. Some of our most popular posts feature an Elon alum
and what they have been up to since graduation. Offer alumni an opportunity to send in
nominations of who they would like to see profiled.
Guidelines:
• Create a content plan and an organizational calendar.
• Be creative with your posts. Hashtags, photos, and links are encouraged.
• Take the proper steps to make sure your post is appropriate for each class year.
• Follow-up with previous posts often and make thoughtful notes about alumni responses.
