Know the value
of your business.
“Sell” your event to the venue. Know your
overall food and beverage spend, historical
guest room pick-up, ancillary spend, etc. The
more you know, the more leverage you’ll have!
Determine what
concessions matter.
Suite upgrades? Airport transfers? Food and
beverage discounts? Make a list of your event’s
must-haves vs. nice-to-haves, and approach
negotiations accordingly.
Take time to develop
relationships.
We all like working with people who are fun
to work with. Reach out personally, follow up
promptly, and build a relationship, it’ll make
contract negotiations much easier!
