Coast Guard Sector St. Petersburg – Ports and Waterways Safety Branch Chief – September 2012 – Present
Leadership representative for all Coast Guard ports and waterways safety and security activities along west
coast of Florida.
Evaluated marine event paperwork, mitigated risk with safety/security regulations, and issued appropriate
forms for a yearly average of 180 events ensuring minimal risk to boating public.
Led four member Marine Transportation System Recovery Unit ensuring preparedness for port-wide
emergency response operations.
Oversaw public outreach activities including high-profile base tours and open houses, port community
functions, and community service events.
Coast Guard Cutter BERTHOLF (WMSL 750) – Deck Watch Officer – May 2010 – September 2012
Responsible for the safety of 120 service members and the proper navigation of the newest $641 million
dollar ship in domestic and international waters, during search and rescue cases, and high speed narcotics
interdictions.
Weapons Department Head/Gunnery Officer: managed work lists, training and administration of 32 member
department in charge of the ships exterior maintenance and advanced weapons systems.
Intelligence Officer: managed gathering, collection, and processing of unit intelligence related to counter
narcotics and commercial fishing compliance missions; led to $500 million of illegal narcotics cargo
seized/abandoned and strict regulatory compliance of federal fishing laws.
Education Services Officer: mentored 50+ members on availability of military educational benefits, processed
120+ applications to guarantee $57k in tuition assistance to fellow servicemembers, and administered 145
examinations for enlisted promotions.
