Within the UAS MALE Project (P.1HH) I am in charge the Ground Control Station segment (GCS) as
GCS Technology Manager.
The key aspects of this activity are reported below:
To lead the coverage check between UAS requirements and GCS requirements.
To define and check the technical content of GCS deliverables and the relevant conformity.
To check that the GCS subsystems (Voice recorder, Environmental conditioner, etc.) are
adequate to the GCS requirements.
To plan and verify the GCS HW/SW development and delivery.
To develop and control the GCS Budget.
To control the Suppliers activity and the related deliverables.
To participate to the UAS test generation and analysis.
To lead the UAV graphical interfaces available on the GCS (HUD, MFD, MAP, etc.)
To support the UAS Simulator development.
To lead the Datalink protocol development based on STANAG 4586 issue 3.
To verify the GCS configuration and product Tree.
To support the UAV Flight Activity within the GCS staff.
To lead, from Piaggio side, the Certification GCS Panel.
To support the payloads integration within the GCS area (Mission and Armament System).
To lead the development of the Remote Control Station System.
To develop the on-ground Tools (Pre-Flight and Maintenance tool).
To lead the Training activity related the Ground Crew staff (GCS, Datalink, Mission System
operators).
To lead the GCS Environmental test activity.
To lead the CE Marking activity.
During this activity the GCS team was composed by 8 engineers (including not European
staff).

During the GCS (Ground Control Station) development activity within the P.1HH MALE Aircraft
based on the STANAG 4586 interoperability requirements I have managed, as Technical Leader, the
following aspects:
Development:
To develop the Conops (Concept of Operation) derived from the Shareholder GCS Requirements
To analyse, check and allocate the UAS requirements to the GCS requirements.
To design the requirements related the functional, environmental and performance GCS aspect in
accordance with the P.1HH UAS requirements (using DOORS tool).
To Develop the GCS–UAV Datalink Protocol requested for a MALE Command and Control
UAV.
To control and check the “As Design” and the “As Built” GCS configuration.
To lead the GCS Certification activity as Piaggio certifying staff member.
Operation:
To crate the GCS team (3 members) including the relevant training.
To lead the Piaggio HMI Panel composed by Pilots, UAV specialists and suppliers.
To develop the GCS HMI using Esterel SW (Scade Display) tools.
To manage the GCS HW/SW integration with the relevant supplier staff.
To develop and produce the Remote GCS able to support the FTI specialist activity.

I worked in an Aeronautical Company as Senior Avionic Engineer.
I was involved into the new Airplane Project (P.1XX) as Work Package responsible of Air Data
Sensors System, A/C Systems Integration Rig and also as responsible of the Requirements Management
implementation at Company level (DOORS Tools).
Basically, in this phase the activity was concentrated on the following aspects:
High Level Technical Requirements definition.
Drawing up of the architectural design.
Interactions between EASA and the Suppliers.
Technical discussion and meeting with the Suppliers.
Requirements Management implementation (DOORS Tool).

I worked in an Aerospace society (Thales Alenia Space located in Vimodrone IT) as Project Leader of
a satellite module (BepiColombo On Board Computer) involved in the first Mercury ESA deep space
mission (see www.esa.int for more details related the Bepi Colombo satellite mission).
During this time I have improved my skills regarding to following aspects:
I/O: The management of Input/output interfaces as required by the customer requirements.
Monitoring and Health: The analysis about primitive functions dedicated to the
controlling/monitoring systems, with particular awareness to safety and segregation
aspects.
Requirements Management: The drafting of technical specifications based on the
EASA requirements derived from functional requirements concerning satellite system
(DOORS Tool).

technical specification through the development of dedicated HW/SW items.
Suppliers Management: The management of “third-party” vendors to integrate with the
primary system.
To development and verify the HW and Complex HW based on: the Design Assurance
Guidance for Airborne Electronic Hardware (RTCA/DO-254).
To verify and test the HW based on: Environmental Qualification of Electrical/Electronically
based on (RTCA/DO-160E).

I worked in an Avionic society (Galileo Avionica located in Nerviano IT) as Project Leader in a
prototype Helicopter computer project named AW149 and EH101.
During this activity I have improved the skills regarding the following aspects:
I/O: The management of Input/output Interfaces as required by the customer
requirements.
Architectural Design of Avionics Systems: The Coverage of requirements resulting
from technical specifications through the implementation of dedicated HW/SW items.
Production Activity: To manage LRU (3/4 ATR Avionics Computers) from the
production, retrofitting and maintenance standpoint
Suppliers Management: The management of “third-party” vendors to integrate with the
primary system.
To develop and verify the HW and Complex HW respect to the Design Assurance
Guidance for Airborne Electronic Hardware (RTCA/DO-254).
To develop and verify the SW based on the Software Considerations in Airborne
Systems and Equipment Certification (RTCA/DO-178B level C).
To test and verify the HW within the RTCA/DO-160C.

2004 I collaborated to manage Insurance Software concerning
Bank flow data integrity, developed for ERGO spa.

2004 I worked as consultant in a team that have in charge
to support and improve a Billing software (called Portal developed in C) for the TIM (Telecom
media mobile) customer.
November the 3rd
2003 I started to work as Capgemini Consultant Engineer.
During the university studies that was started in in September 1994 I also worked as freelance
in several societies that operates in the computer science.
September 1992 - September 1994 I worked in a Company called Monitor Services located
in Milan. First as Technical Assistant and then as network problems solver.
During these two years I have acquired a complete and adequate formation Hardware and
Software of Net architectures like Novell and Windows, installing them in the customer’s
offices.
In March 1992 I started to work in Telepiù society located in Milan as technical adviser
concerning decoder installation.

1989 - 1990 I acquired my qualification of industrial expert in San Donato Milanese at I.T.I.S.
E. Mattei keeping grade 58/60.
1994 - 1995 I started to study in Physic faculty of Pavia University.

1996 - 1997 I changed university division from Physics to Engineering division.
On 28 April 2003 (session 2001- 2002) The Pavia University graduated me in Electronic
Engineer with specialization in microelectronic.
The Title of my Thesis was” DC/DC SYSTEMS FOR TELEPHONY OF 3rd
GENERATION “keeping grade 93/110.
26 July 2003 I did the state examination in order to obtain the qualification of Engineer
profession, I had positive result.
In January 2004 I attended a Business Objects course organized by CapGemini.
In March 2007 I attended Effective Presentation course organized by Infinity.
