Dear Sir/Madam,
The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) operates in 35 countries from
Central Europe to Central Asia supporting transition towards market economy as well as fostering
democracy and civil society. The EBRD is the largest single investor in the region and an important
pillar for mitigating the consequences of the recent global financial crisis. Ukraine is one of the
countries where EBRD is playing a crucial role, with the total value reaching EUR15bn. Being biggest
institutional investor in Ukraine, the Bank also looks to extend its reach beyond core investment and
technical co-operation projects and is working to support exceptional young talent in the market.
In this respect it was a great pleasure to host Bogdan Kryvosheia, who was at the EBRD
headquarters in April-May 2014 for a short-term internship at the Office of the Board Director for
Switzerland, Ukraine, Liechtenstein, Turkmenistan, Serbia, Montenegro, Moldova. During his time at
the Bank, Bogdan showed significant interest in the organisation, successfully completing
comprehensive overview of the Bank's operations, including its structure, workflow and decision
making processes.
At my request he prepared brief research paper on the macroeconomic situation in Ukraine within
the wider regional context. He also took active part in preparations of the Board Office for the
Executive Session on Ukraine. In addition Bogdan Kryvosheia contributed to the preparation of our
Office to the Annual Meeting of the Bank, which took place 14-16 May in Warsaw.
Mr. Kryvosheia demonstrated great awareness of other aspects of the Bank's operations, spending
short, but productive time with some departments within EBRD:
- Office of the Chief Economist
- Risk management team

In our communication and collaboration during his internship, Bogdan Kryvosheia proved to be fast
learner, team worker, very self-organized and easily integrated into working groups. During his
internship in the Bank, he demonstrated important professional qualities, including proactive in-
depth research skills, quick grasp of complex concepts, systematic approach to analysis, attention to
details, to name a few. These qualities indicate his strong analytical nature, which, combined with
his outstanding learning abilities, are essential for his further development in the financial sector.
I wish Mr. Kryvosheia future success and believe this internship will contribute to his knowledge
base and would significantly add to his professional experience.
