The number of universities in Indonesia in 2022 (BPS 2022), public universities
125 institutions and private universities 2990 institutions
Number of students 2022 ( PDDIKTI) 6 349 941 students
The number of lecturers 2021 (PDDIKTI end of 2021) 265.5 thousands, Around
82.6 thousand lecturers are on public campuses and 182.8 thousand lecturers
on private campuses.

7. 3.Regulation About Lecture and Researcher
1. Law of the Republic of Indonesia No. 14 of 2005 Concerning Teachers and Lecturers article 46 paragraph 2
says :
Lecturers have minimum academic qualifications:
a. Graduates of master's programs for diploma programs or Degree programs; and
b. Graduates of doctoral programs for Magister programs.
2. Presidential Decree of the Republic of Indonesia number 17 of 2019 concerning the positions of doctors,
dentists, clinical educators, lecturers, researchers, and engineers as certain positions with an age limit of
applicants of at least 40 (forty) years, the third article says:
“For the positions of Lecturers, Researchers, and Engineers as the FIRST Dictum number 4, number 5, and
number 6 with Strata 3 (Doctoral) educational qualifications.”
8. 3. Requirements to become a Reviewer Badan Riset dan inovasi Negara (BRIN) to assess the
feasibility of research proposals, research processes, research results, and research outputs in
accordance with the field of research and innovation funding, must be at least Ph.D (S3/Doctor)
4. Decision of the Director General of Higher Education of the Ministry of Education and Culture of
the Republic of Indonesia Number 65 / E / KPT / 2020 concerning Requirements and Procedures for
Opening Academic Study Programs at private universities, says:

11. 6. Objectives
1. Batara Foundation as an institution that will promote and attract students in
Indonesia to continue S2 (Masters) and S3 (Doctor) studies to Universiti Malaysia
Sabah
2. The Fakulty Kejuruteraan as a liaison institution between Batara Foundation and
UMS
3. Fakulty Kejuruteraan will coordinate with Conselor and fakulty – fakulty who are
at UMS to facilitate the completion of S2 (Masters) and S3 (Doctor) studies.
4. Details Partner Ship Program will be continued in the form of LOI, MOU, MOA and
other correspondence between the Batara Foundation and UMS
